Most of the engines working 300 ton trains over the Mendips on a SO ( Summer operation ) timetable had the roof vents open, when passing my parents house in Shelton Mallatt, I was fortunate in the fact, that I allowed was on the footplate At Shepton station and the footplate was baking...so any air coming into the cab was welcome.!!
Hi Jen, I'm enjoying your videos from over here in Los Angeles. I Just wanted to say that at 16:04, at least in the US, the pony trucks are the rear ones, under a cab, and the front ones are 'pilot' trucks...Also, again, over here a 4-6-0 is either a 'ten wheeler' or a 'Casey Jones' [really K.C. Jones].. No idea whether or not Brits recognize these terms, though..One more nit pick is the color is closer to Brunswick green (nearly black), not lime green which would be somewhat lighter than your engine. But your reviews are very thorough which is very alluring. M
Must agree with the coupling of the engine/tender, good old simple method, really hate having to pick loco and tender together, if the loco pickup are well designed, no need for tender too, I built hundreds of kits, with loco pick-up s only, no returns, all customers happy,... This Bachmann model is really very good and getting old too, the Hornby version is twice the price, but this loco is solid and realiable.....just purchased the 2-6-0 version, great runner and details...
I think the website you were using to research them was confusing the Standard 4mt 2-6-0s Moguls with the Standard 4-6-0s as the 2-6-0s Moguls were built at Horwich, Doncaster and Derby. With the 4-6-0s being built at Swindon and they were partly based of the GWR Manors as being lighter 4-6-0s compared to the Standard 5MTs. 75069 is currently being overhauled at the Severn Valley Railway and should be back running this year in BR lined black. Great video and it is a great model for its age. Hornby do a Standard 4-6-0 model which recent models come out this year.
What a coincidence Jenny I've had my same model running around the layout tonight, thanks for sharing this video, John

Thanks. Pilot truck isn't really a term that gets used over here.

Enjoying, your video on the 4mt.nice looking loco definitely better in green!.
The green does work well on all of the BR standards.
Looks nice. Im getting same one
Only the Standard 4mts that we’re allocated to the Southern Region had BR1B tenders
As with the 2-6-0 version too, as no water trough's on the Southern....
