It's 2024...I am 72 and grew up listening to Merle. Miss him and George and so many others. So thankful to have this platform to keep their music alive and available anytime the mood hits.
Just saw this on Willie's 91st birthday. Merle is my favorite ever. He would borrow minnows when I was 15 on Lake McClure in '74. Had a houseboat across the dock from us. Always replaced them and then some. I didn't even realize then.....how much he would mean to me later. Thanks Willie for doing this for our friend
The worst part of getting old is NOT being frail, nor having more aches and pains. The absolute worst is losing your old friends. Getting old ain't for wimps.
True willie he won't b gone while us fans keep his music alive an while his sons keep paying tribute an singing his song yippees for writing this willie❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Merle considered Willie one of his closest friends, and Willie felt the same about Merle. Willie honoured his friend of 50 years the best way he knew how, by singing a hauntingly beautiful song together with Merle's youngest son, Ben, who sings backup and plays guitar throughout the song.
Willie can write a song about every single situation in life! What a talent...this is a good example of Willie singing about a friend of his who passed away. NO ONE WE LOVE is ever really gone, because they live on in our hearts and minds forever!
Who's gonna make a song for Willie when he is gone (hope that is a long time away.) Since most of the old country legends are already ''gone''. Anyway you will be always on our minds.❤
I love it. I live in America's Midwest, I wrote in my roaddust on my trailer, "R.I.P. MERLE the day he died. Nobody, even truckers knew what it meant. A Gay new world.

The guitar riff at the end by Ben Haggard, Merle's son... WOW! It gets me in the "feels." I shut my eyes and just see Merle effortlessly playing that jazzy riff on his Tuff-Dog Telecaster. Instead, it's Merle channeling through his son, and it couldn't be more beautiful. It's a signature style all to Merle, and thankfully his DNA is living large in Ben as well.

Well said
Good luck Willie!
Maybe the most moving song since George Jones' "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes"
I felt same with George singing who is gonna fill those shoes!
I totally love Merle lol! And tried to do a tribute lol
agree, i just listened 5 times, just amazing
Sadly little did George know that it would be a bunch of pop country frat boys that were going fill them.
*going to
Country music was Merle. The men and women from that era made real country music.
You’re absolutely right. Country is getting filled with rap and I hate it.
They don't make them like that anymore! There's been a murder on Music Row :-(
You are so right!!
How very true
