Depends on the engine. Mine is fine doing that. If you have a dry vacuum pump you can damage the fins it by doing so too much. Otherwise, it harms nothing and keeps the mags from firing.
Not to worry, all things were taken care of before flight. We knew we would have to take these on and off multiple times before the end of the project.

Did you not have to gap the plugs first? When should people do that versus not?
Need to gap and use anti-seize on the plugs.
