Bride cries when she sees her paralyzed father stand for the first time

- Former IndyCar driver, Sam Schmidt was paralyzed from the neck down in 2000. Savannah was only 2 years old when it happened and has never known a time when her father could stand. On her wedding day, they shared an extremely special dance together.
We were lucky enough to witness and document this incredible moment for the family. It wasn't easy holding the camera still with tears in our eyes, but we did our best.

I love that he did this with his daughter but looks at his wife's face, she is so happy to be dancing with her husband, getting to hold him. I am pretty she does everything for him and she is so happy to have this moment.

Oh God this was brutal. To see him - husband, father, man - restored. Feeling like a man again, not a patient or an invalid. To stand tall above the heads of your family - to feel like a protector again, even if just for a moment. You can see his soul restored! Such a poweful video
Ok, I was already crying when he danced with his daughter but I completely lost it when he started dancing with his wife. 😭😭

Such a courageous and loving dad. The whole family knows what sacrifice is all about. Can you imagine how many times they had to be there, not just for dad, but to encourage each other to press through all those years. I have a daughter too. Someday I plan on officiating her wedding. What a day that will be. God bless this family.

Sam Schmidt was from an era when race car drivers really were brave souls who chased crazy speeds. His bravery and stamina has always been a huge inspiration to me. He continues to do great things in racing, and as seen here, great things for people. He's a true class act and a born racer.

this is so beautiful and i am so glad he got to dance with his daughter on her special day but my love mainly goes to the wife who has had to deal with raising there daughter and helping him with everything, you cant buy love like that and to me it shows that she is one of the rare ones who understands that love isnt always happy, love can be hard and difficult but is always worth it
