I remember when the second verse of this song was the verse of the month in the Source magazine back in the days. Just from reading his verse without actually hearing the song made me go to the record store that day and buy this single. Classic.
AZ been cold since day 1. Here's some more AZ to check out: Gimme Yours, Mo Money Mo Murder ft. Nas, Sugar Hill, Uncut Raw, Your World Don't Stop, Gimme Yours ft. Nas, A.W.O.L., Animal, At Night, Paradise (Life), man... I could go on.
@@LITMOVIESCENES Didn't mess with the Stylistics loop either lol. Don't get me wrong, he bodied it lyrically as he always does, but those two beats didn't do it for me. The two samples had been used too many times by then.
AZ was Nas’s right hand man basically when Cormega went to jail. Nas and Cormega fell out because Steve Stoute got him out of the Firm. Nas, AZ, Foxy and Cormega was the original Firm group. Cormega and Nas fell out for years over that situation. Cormega was lacing Nas in diss records. He gave Jay-Z the info he needed to diss him on the Takeover. But back to AZ, he’s one of the greatest to touch the mic. Got to react to Life’s a Bitch with Nas & AZ.
AZ is my number one and always has been. This cat has everything I crave. Filthy jazz/Motown sampled beats, insane lyrical skill and cadence. The pinnacle of OG hip hop. That Queens/Brooklyn scene. The best. Queens Bridge 41st side .
"Sick as hell sicker than sickle cell.....anemia" First off that's a tongue twister which I always enjoy...but also the way he broke up the sentence chaining them across two bars. Not exactly a new innovative technique but neither is the dunk yet when I see one executed perfectly in a basketball game I still get up off my seat.
Glad I was raised in the 90s when songs like this first came out. Az, Nas, Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Pac, Big L, Pun, etc. helped us teens to navigate the streets. For us growing up in that 90s era, this was survival music. And it was extra dope cause we didn’t have the internet to just grab these songs & albums, you actually had to go in the store and buy them, or know somebody that had the tape/cd, and made you a dub (a copy). I miss those days. Hiphop was really respected & represented on a much higher level. ✌🏾
I was fortunate, that I was born in the late 70's and when I was coming of age, late teens and my 20's, was during the golden age of hip hop 1993 -- 2003, so much great content
Az is one of the more underrated MCs. His beat selection, his story telling ability and his word game is so dope 🎙💯. Az feat Nas - How Ya Living is a very dope track
YO KingAhmadTv, THE SAME FEELING THAT U ARE EXPERIENCING NOW IS THE SAME FEELING I FELT IN '95 WHEN THIS FIRST CAME OUT & I STILL GET THAT FEELING TODAY. THE TRUE DEFINITION OF "TIMELESS MUSIC"!🎶💯
I appreciate that you see why a lot of older cats not super impressed by Drake. Not that Drake ain’t got no tracks or music. He’s good and I get it for this generation that loves it but he just ain’t got nothing on the content side for me.
AZ is underrated because; 1. Rapped with NAS 2. People thought he was from Queens. 3. Timeframe he finally released/ wack label. But he’s truly a crown jewel and here’s why….. He studied the God’s flow pattern extensively! Dope MC!!!!
Thanks for doing this! I remember hearing this all the way back in 2001 in college and I felt like I was the only one who ever heard this. It's so cool that there are communities building around this.
AZ & Pete Rock had a chemistry for 6 years before they made this. Check out Gimme Yours from the same album. They reconnected for AZ’s sequel to this album, Doe Or Die II, and made Check Me Out… STILL FLAMES!
SUPER LEGEND! Finally a reaction to my fav rapper all time right here! AZ one of the greatest and flyest mc's period! Too many weaker rappers get mentioned before this dude, THIS MAN IS DUE FOR SOME RESPECT! Hope u react to more of his shit like Problems, Your World Don't Stop (Buckwild Remix), The Come Up, Uncut Raw, At Night, The Format, it goes on! BIG THANK U FOR THIS HOMIE
I can't believe I missed this! One of the best songs I feel was ever made. Love AZ. Bro your channel is the best. I am sure I am many years older than you but your channel reminds me of being in middle school and high school cooling with the boom box and my boys analyze music just the way you do. Thank you bro and thank you to your parents for bringing you in this world. We need more humans like you out here
A yo....l love your reaction videos brah. I'm soooooo glad you about to dig into your AZ bag!! He's top 5 lyrically. SERIOUSLY!! Do more AZ.......... you'll get a lot of views brother. Keep doing your thing!!
Ayo King Ahmad, one of the reason why you enjoy Bars like these...............It could be you just "Rather Unique". Blessings 2 You & Yours.....and may your 3rd Eye open even wider. HIP HOP MUSIC 4 LIFE !!!!!
Someone finally showing love to da man. Az . underrated legend. Nas aint put him on his features for nothing. When i go listen nas and az pieces its mainly for AZ verse
Wait! That’s Pete rock. Let’s me know I really loved this joint cuz I was super heavy on dj premier around the time this came out. I ain’t like nothing damn near if it wasn’t preemo. Lol.
you are a W man. I can binge this content. You really appreciate the craft and what hip hop is all about. Keep it up man. The reaction scene is dense rn, but you will shine through many others.
I’ve been listening to AZ since fall of ‘93 and to this day every time I listen 🎧 to him I hear something I’ve never heard before even if it’s on a track I’ve played 1000 times. No Capp.🥂
Whenever someone asks what’s my favorite rhyme in any song I always come back to “I got a style sick as hell sicker than sickle cell anemia slaughter your circulatory like leukemia,” when I first heard that shit when this came out I had to stop the tape and rewind. Yeah. Tape lol
I love that you listen to the old shit.. but if cats don't know the slang from back then, the meaning gets lost.. keep bumping these tracks.. this whole album is top-notch!!!
AZ is one of the most underrated of all time in many ways. His lyrical flow, bar composition, and story telling ability is on another level.
AZ needs to be mentioned in top 10s
The Underateness is real ! That's not even a real word, but f**k it, lol.
He's def been in my top 10 for a minute. One of Brooklyn's finest.
He's a top 5 for me
AZ flow is so damn smooth. He def is one of most underrated MC's of the 90s. He is nice for real!
Pete Rock on the beat and scratches. Legend producer.🔥🤙🏼❤️
Pete Rock killed the beat and they scratching is impeccable!
AZ- The format is sick af.
Pieces of A Man and Aziatic were his best albums
Word..Dj Premier 🔥🔥
Yup there’s so many but I would go with the format next
Without question
The come up as well
AZ "Uncut Raw" First track on this same album. Absolute must.
No doubt 💪🏾
You aint never lie son
AZ & Pete Rock, can't fail!
AZ’s verse on “Life’s a Bitch is arguably the best opening verse of all time. Doe or Die album is a bonafide classic
True! I still have that verse memorized 25 years later. Lol that's classic shit
Agreed..
Facts!!!
Nah P got the best openers of all time “I put my lifetime in between these papers lines’ is just one

Lyrically AZ could hang with anybody as you can see his style mimics Rakim easily a top ten MC
Anybody!!! Real talk!
actually his main influence was Kool G Rap he said it himself... listen again and think about it
I used to get laughed at for saying az was spitting just as hard as nas
@@kanidanieldariusdad he was though. He was always Nas’ equal on a track. ALWAYS!!
@@kanidanieldariusdad Cormega spits harder than Nas

AZ so underrated
Facts 💯
Pure lyricist
Frequent Nas collaborator. But he’s nice in he’s own. Sugar Hill. Someone said Format, that’s nice too.
Az is one of the more underrated MCs. His beat selection, his story telling ability and his word game is so dope 🎙💯. Az feat Nas - How Ya Living is a very dope track
AZs flow is identical to Nas, he’s just got a very different voice. I mean this in a good way!
Peep game. That's Big Daddy Kane on the hook sample.

How AZ is not considered the greatest is beyond me, as he is no question the G.O.A.T
AZ a legend inspired a lot of people like Eminem’s first album infinite was based off az style
Brooklyns own baby shoutout to East NY
Pete Rock did the beat his signature is putting his own vocals in the background.

AZ - "Problems"....you'll have the chorus stuck in your head for WEEKS
In all honesty, you need to just dive into AZ's full catalog; his features, solo projects, newer songs...clearly one of the 5-10 best to ever do it
