Yes I agree like why take this you tubers side? One scoop of sugar like she must eat the coffee grounds for breakfast. She’s so darn particular I hope no one listens to her reviews because there just another opinion among millions.
Then what’s the point of buying the machine if it’s going to cost you to waste more money by adding more coffee into it? I have a regular mr coffee with the switch and have no problems with weak coffee. I feel that simpler is better
+bestkitchenreviews you wanna try some strong coffee? add this and your coffee will be strong www.bonescoffee.com/products/bones-coffee-companys-high-voltage-2x-caffeine?variant=25257763265&gclid=CL_O1deuk9MCFZKCswodb_cJ2Q
Thanks for the review. One thing I noticed on this particular machine is that the showerhead is pretty small. Ideally you want a coffeemaker with larger showerhead because the more surface area of the ground coffee the hot water comes in contact with initially - it makes for a stronger, more flavorful pot of coffee.
The strength of the coffee in a drip machine is based solely on the coffee to water ratio, not necessarily the machine Mine is great and the coffee is always strong. The NCA ( National Coffee Association) recommends 2 Tablespoons per every 6oz. Sounds like a lot but most coffee shops use this ratio. You can do 2 TBLS per 8oz if the former is too strong.
Nice review. One of my friends has this coffee maker and I've had a decent cup of coffee from it a few times. The trick for a stronger cup of coffee is to use the strong setting and use 6-8 scoops with the 1/8 cup (29.5 ml) coffee measure for a full 12 cup pot. She and I both grind our beans fresh & like strong coffee. Most of the drip pots I've used seem to make a little weaker coffee than other methods, but are probably more convenient. Anyway, good review of how it actually works. Keep up the good reviews. Thank you.
Thank You for the Pro-Tip, I just received one for Christmas. It really did look a bit weak following it's Own Instructions lol!!! I put 8.5 Spoonfuls into a 10 cup batch...Hopefully I didn't overdo it😅😅...
+TJB3NC - The coffee she's using, Lavazza Ground House Blend Coffee - 10 ounce, costs about $11/can on the low side. So, unless she's willing to brew chicory root coffee, she's not going to use any more than necessary. Usually, I just use Yuban low grade arabica bean coffee and kill off the ick with CoffeeMate.
That's exactly what she needs to do. People misunderstand that strong switch, that has more to do with a more "burned in" taste. You can't make stronger what doesn't exist, you need more coffee. The "strong" just "cooks" what you have a bit more.
Stronger setting does work. For people that don’t understand, it simply pours the water out very slowly. Making the water have longer contact with coffee
try black silk from folgers for a smooth refined strong coffee flavor, the regular mr coffee pot does a great job brewing this type of coffee, and at a great price for folks who drink a lot of coffee.
I just received this someone gave it to me nothing wrong with it it came in the chrome one you said I did the vinegar Ritz and with two extra rinces afterwards made a fresh pot this morning and it works great I love this coffee maker I decided I like the strong brew it tasted wonderful
Well I love mine. My husband and I use ours twice a day. And we use the strong brew in the morning and the normal in the evenings. This is a great coffee pot.
I do like that the "strong" & "regular" lights turn off when brewing is done. I have a Krups coffee maker and if you are out of earshot when the brewing buzzer goes off and come back in to check -- there are no indicator lights. Too bad about the weak coffee tho...
Thanks for the review. I just bought this unit last night from Walmart after doing online pricing research in order to buy local rather than order online and wait X-days. The ceiling was $50 to replace an old GE unit that kicked the bucket after 30+ years. I haven't opened the coffee maker box yet because I've been doing some additional research. Consumer Reports doesn't give very high marks to anything in the under-$100 category. CR does recommend the Cuisinart Perfect Temp DCC-2800 model with the KitchenAid KCM1202OB being next in line. Although, if you read the reviews on the manufacturer websites, Amazon, and elsewhere, it seems even these relatively well rated coffee makers have issues for some people. Worst case scenario, I'll just keep making coffee by bringing water up under a boil and using tongs to steep a big tea ball infuser filled with coffee wrapped in a paper filter.
Double interesting that you've been having problems with this model if that's what you meant. I've been using this Mr. Coffee maker model since May 2016 and I haven't had any problems with it. The one ding I think CR or someone else had against it is that it doesn't brew coffee at the optimal temp, which is supposed to be 195-F. Based on my analog meat thermometer test, it brews the coffee around 180-F. Even so, the coffee has been fine and it's not like I'm a connoisseur brewing Starbucks. Yuban is low tier arabica or just false advertising, but with some CoffeeMate to kill the ick and preserve the caffeine, it's all I can justifiably afford at the moment.
Btw, keep your receipt and write your bottom box info in the manual in case you ever have to call Mr. Coffee about a problem that requires a fix or swap. The unit is warrantied against defects for 1 year. Although, if you buy it at Walmart, they offer a 2 year warranty backup/extension for $3. The Walmart extended warranty covers the same things and a few others not covered by Mr. Coffee in the 1st and 2nd year. So, even though most extended warranties are a waste of money per Consumer Reports, to get a 1 year warranty extended to 2 years for $3 seemed worthwhile to me. Since some people got a lemon, or were just fishing for a new one for family and friends by complaint on the Mr. Coffee model forums, $3 seemed like a no brainer.
I have had mine for years and make mine full pot with a heaping 1/3 cup of coffee. and is great. Changing the amount of grounds/water is the key factor.
That's a good idea ahead of it's time. I've been using a 2 Tbs scoop to put 8 Tbs of coffee in the paper filter. I need to see how much that amount is in cups.
Thanks for sharing this video, very helpful... I especially love the idea of cleaning the machine with vinegar, it's so brilliant... As soon as I opened the box, the first thing came to my mind was how to clean this machine! I really appreciate the intelligence here... Im enjoying this cleaning process now💃Btw i know a lot of women using vinegar in their dishwashers instead of cancer causing detergents... Hope this will be helpful too... 🙏🏻💞🙌
+beth bullock Hi Beth, I put the filter basket in at 2:16. The permanent filter or paper filter sits inside the filter basket. Hope that helps. Please subscribe if you haven't already :)
So in other words, if you don't like your coffee too strong, then this is the perfect coffee maker. I think would be a better and fair statement instead. Thanks for the review.
My grandma has the same exact coffee maker except it is not as fancy it does not make weak coffee it does not have a brew strength selector it has two separate buttons for turning it on and off and it does not beep
I live with my mother who has this same machine which we use. I don't like it. It brews weak coffee and you can't turn it back on once you turn off the machine. If you do, it just starts brewing again. Once brewed, I have to wait about 10 minutes because the coffee is too hot to drink unless you add water or cream. I drink my coffee black.
According to America's Test Kitchen they say the "strong" setting only makes your coffee bitter. Why not add more Coffee? I use dark roast because i love strong strong coffee :)
I bought mine before finding this review. I found my coffee very weak. I set the timer button and on the third day when I added more coffee because it was too weak it overflowed.
Mine drips if I take the glass out 🥺 and it didn’t come with a filter 😭 I’ve only had it for a couple of months . Time to get a new one. Or is this a newer version 🧐?
Just made my first pot. Went from a ninja (it sucked, went through 2 so far) coffee is a little weak in comparison but not bad. Hopefully this one works better in the long run as I drink coffee all day long every day!
Honestly, I can't find any coffee maker that's even half as good as a Bunn Coffee Maker! Don't in under 3 minutes and it's the best tasting coffee I've ever had! Just too bad they cost over $100 and that's for the cheaper Bunn coffee maker.. although they do last a long time! I've became very spoiled with my Bunn that my Mother In Law bought us.. only thing is.. can't replace it! =(
We have one of these at my work, and the delay won't go off. It comes on when the unit is turned on, but it wont brew. How do I get the delay to turn off?
It didnt even last a year . the heating element died . then it started leaking water from under the element plate. It was nice for about 8 mo. My Fiance Jada , bought it for me just before she died!😰😭 It was her last gift to me. Now i dont have that anymore! Thanks MR. COFFEE, POOR QUALITY AND WORKMANSHIP. NO Q/A at factory anymore obviously BECAUSE this is the 3rd coffee pot by Mr. Coffee in 10 yrs that has done the very same thing right after buying it!! I wasted 40.00 for one pot then 60.00 for a replacement. A 20.00 coffee pot made by a competitor a basic modle for 12 cups lasted 7 yrs like im use to. Thanks for all the bad memorys Mr. Coffee.
I bought this coffee maker for about $45 from Amazon and got a little over a year's use and then it quit, lights up and all the buttons work, but doesn't brew. I bought it for the color since I have a blender and toaster in the same tone of red. I purchased this after my other red Mr. Coffee Maker stopped working in a little over a year, also. Each time, I brought out my cheap 19.99 Mr. Coffee Maker to replace them. I watched some videos on UA-cam but don't think I can repair them so I'm sticking with my cheapie and when it breaks, I'll just buy another cheap one.
I had the same experience, $45 at Target, lasted a year and now lights up, but nothing happens. Took it apart and found the element is open electrically as shown on an ohm meter. Certainly seems to be a common problem, too bad the quality is so low on products anymore....gotta get too much cash back to stockholders or owners I suppose. Sigh. I really would rather pay twice as much and get something that lasts instead of going through a total of about five coffee makers in about the same number of years.....throwing things away, going back up to the store, fuel, packaging, waste, shipping the product from China, trucking it across the country from port, etc etc. What a waste, build it right once!!!!
The exact same thing happened to mine two days ago. It lights up, but it won't brew. Meanwhile, the $9.99 coffeemaker is working just fine. I will never again buy another Mr. Coffee product again!
I just purchased this unit because I go thru coffee makers like hot French fries sitting on a car seat! One thing I do not like is there is NO back-light for the clock, and I could care less how long the coffee has been sitting (fresh brew timer - this feature is stupid). For that matter, why isn't there a 'Start may car engine because I am about to leave the house' button? When I go to buy another one, it won't be a Mr. Coffee.

+Marcos Martinez Hi Marcos, the Black & Decker 12 cup made a decent cup of coffee and is around the same price, here is the link - amzn.to/1MXfXRm. If you want a very good cup of coffee but pay more, get the Cuisinart 12-cup - here is the link amzn.to/1STRyOB You can view reviews of both coffee makers on my channel. Hope that helps :)
There should be a disclaimer NOT to open the water reservoir during/after brewing: that steam is scalding hot: hot enough to raise blisters on your hand. This means that you can not brew more than a single pot at a time: for multiple pots the machine has to cool off to save yourself some burns.
Love the review but I was hoping you would have went over changing from glass to thermal. My coffee maker is stuck on thermal and I can't get it off.... Like I don't even know what button to press...or if there even is one... I've scoured the internet on how to change it to make it where it doesn't automatically set to thermal and I just keep on coming back to your video. And I watched your video multiple times and you definitely don't go over that so....
Couple mistakes in your process...1...coffee water ratio...may need more to make it stronger...2...try a paper filter...i have this same model and i love it 😁😁😁...makes strong coffee just the way i like it
You can get another glass carafe, usually at the same store, but they are relatively expensive in comparison to the whole coffeemaker. But better than not being able to make coffee at all.
We’ve had ours for 1 1/2 months and now it turns it’s self on and off and won’t stop so this coffee maker has a problem with its electronic programmer.
Use more coffee. I have a Mr Coffee machine and I love it! Would recommend to anybody.

Thanks for the video. Is there such a thing as a water pump? What moves the water through the coffee maker to the brew basket?
The water boils and turns to steam which then rises, cools enough to condense back into liquid, and then drips over the coffee. No pump required.

+bestkitchenreviews Exactly what I was looking for Thanks!
Great, you're welcome!
Why it makes week coffee no matter if you use the regular or strong setting
There should be a disclaimer NOT to open the water reservoir during/after brewing: that steam is scalding hot: hot enough to raise blisters on your hand. This means that you can not brew more than a single pot at a time: for multiple pots the machine has to cool off to save yourself some burns.
After 1 min my machine beeped go off. I need to reset the machine. Can you tell me
How many Watts does it take to run the coffee maker please. I need this information because I am buying a Power Inverter.
+Richard Oakes Hi Richard, I'm not sure but similar models are 900 - 1000 watts.
where to put water?
How do u unclog one?
I would try using more coffee
I enjoy your review's they are very helpful , could you review the Ninja coffee bar I would like to see what you think about it.
+ALMA RIVERA Hi Alma, Glad you enjoy the reviews. Yes, the Ninja coffee bar review is coming soon :)
bestkitchenreviews my Mr coffee has an auto clean feature where a red light flashes, how do I active the cleaning cycle. HELP!
Thank you so much
Great video. Very professional but I think it’s time to upgrade my coffee maker
Cleaned it with water and worked fine, tried to make my first cup of coffee and it wont work! What the heck?!?!?!
Couple mistakes in your process...1...coffee water ratio...may need more to make it stronger...2...try a paper filter...i have this same model and i love it 😁😁😁...makes strong coffee just the way i like it
Add 4x to 10 x times the coffee. I'll bet It will be like espresso.
The first day it worked now it goes to carp after a day and another. So me and my mom r taking it back.to Walmart.
Where do you put the water filter?
Hi Eric, the filter should be put in it's holder and sits on top of the basket. Hope that helps! Please subscribe if you haven't already :)
Eric Sutz I had the same problem wondering where it goes
I have this red Mr coffee maker but the glass is broken
You can get another glass carafe, usually at the same store, but they are relatively expensive in comparison to the whole coffeemaker. But better than not being able to make coffee at all.
Use paper filters ( no filter produces cloudy coffee.... googled it and it said use a paper filter.
We’ve had ours for 1 1/2 months and now it turns it’s self on and off and won’t stop so this coffee maker has a problem with its electronic programmer.
