You can see that pump jack was converted from a engine to a electric motor at one time. These wells have a gas line that runs off where flammable gases natural gas maybe some other gasses also it would be the fuel for a 1 cylinder engine that runs low RPM has lot of torque.
I’ve always wanted to see an oil pump jack up close but I live in the Midwest so I probably won’t be finding one anytime soon but hopefully my next trip to the Mojave I’ll be able to see one
The first oil mine was in Poland, which was under partitions around 1850. And remember the distillation of crude oil by Ignacy Łukasiewicz from Poland. The first lamp constructed by Łukasiewicz illuminated the pharmacy display. July 31, 1853 is the symbolic, official date of birth of the oil industry in Poland. For the first time, kerosene lighting was used in practice during an urgent night operation in a public hospital in Lviv, Łyczaków. 1984 the world's first oil mine in Bóbrka near Krosno (Trzecieski-Łukasiewicz oil company); the mine is still active today. ua-cam.com/video/gUh2ggPen-w/v-deo.html
Grew up in SOCAL these were everywhere hard to imagine liberal California is full of oil. There are places in LA area where oil just seeps up though the ground a pool of oil few inches deep we were always told not to get near it could be gases, or quick sand with oil mixed in. Pump jacks are all over the place when you get up close see much bigger no way climb on the thing.
California is full of the evil oil it hates. LoL. I would not climb one one just in case something goes wrong and I am in the middle of nowhere. Would not be good.
Wow great info. I know nothing about the pump jacks but plan to film a few more when I get the chance. Since I was a kid they always interested me. Probably because they look like a huge bird pecking the floor.
You look right at home rural Alberta! Cool close up look at those mechanisms.
I really do love it there in rural Alberta
Very cool. I've seen them driving up and down the highways in California but never up close. Literally fueling the world right there.
Fueling the world, that is correct. This is my first time ever getting close to one. It was great to experience.

Wow! Thanks for that information
Ideally they want to run gas from the ground because it's free, but some wells just don't make enough to keep them going

Many of them are hard to get close to but I lucked out with this one. Thanks for watching.
Never seen one up close cool!
Me too. That's why I had to go see when I found one I could drive close to.
Thanks for sharing, good video without music
Thanks. I avoid adding music to most of my videos. You should check out my Mexico and Belize videos.
Great video 👍
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
You're welcome ! @@DougPVlogs
It's really interesting... Woweww
Thanks for watching. My first time near one was very interesting. I have only seen from far away before this. Should I film some more of them?

I did see a lot of great pump jacks there last time I drove though Texas but didn't film any.
I was hoping it would blow up. Oh well, can’t have everything can we.
