  • This jacket was inspired by a prompt from my online Saori Weaving Study Group, hosted by Saori Worcester. This month’s prompt was to weave in a way that is “bold/wild and quiet/subtle at the same time”, and this challenge really took me out of my comfort zone. I then transformed my cloth into a fun warm-weather statement piece! Stay tuned for next month’s challenge!

I have just discovered SAORI weaving and I am intrigued. I took a two day workshop with Terri Bibby on Saltspring Island (near Victoria, BC) and was totally excited by this form of weaving. I have a floor loom that I haven't used in 20+ years and I am hoping to adapt it to do Saori weaving. I am just about ready to start but have to go thorugh my equipment to see if I have what I need. I have a lot of different fibres mostly wool and acrylic and some unknown. I don't think I have much cotton but will hopefully get some eventually. I want to do a jacket but first I think I will just try some experimental samples. I'd also like to do a few small rag mats but would use cotton for that. Thanks so much for your very informative and inspiring video.

I am not necessarily certain if this could be used for this, but I would really love to try to use a loom with fabric and make my own fabric to stretch onto my canvases. I love making my own canvases and honestly, if I could, would love to try doing something like this and see how it goes.

I'm a new Saori weaver, with no stores, classes or guru's near me. I've been struggling to learn, then I found your vids ! Thank you, I'm learning a lot ! My only suggestion is to put the word "Saori" into your vid titles to make it easier for people like me to find them. I know that Saori has a proprietary interest in its name, but any attorney can tell you that using the word descriptively for "educational" non-commercial purposes is known as "fair use" and is not a violation of copyright.
