You're correct and wrong about some stuff.
I'm from Puerto Rico, I'm not one of those Act60 guys.
Where you are right, these tax incentives (Act60) are very likely to be brought down in the near future. What you are wrong about is Puerto Rico becoming a state.
Act60 is hated by almost everyone, except the put who benefit from it and the few in the corrupt political party on the island the PNP (New Progressive Party). The IRS hates it Congress hates it, the local Puerto Rican people hate it and many activist groups in the US hate it. And with the elections also happening on the island and a new political alliance forming to take down the New Progressive party, if they win the governors seat, and majority in both chamber of the Puerto Rican legislature, then definitely Act60 is dead.
Puerto Rico is never going to be a state, and it never should. There's way too many obstacles blocking it from happening that its near to impossible, and it would be detrimental to both the US and Puerto Rico financially, politically and culturally if it happened. And congress knows this, that's why they always vote on the status issue at the end of the congressional session, so that they can make it look like they are helping when really, they are just doing it at the end so that the bill can expire and die in the senate. Also, its actually the opposite on who wants statehood on the island, in the US the Conservatives are the ones who don't want to make Puerto Rico a state because they fear it would give Democrats more voters, and the Liberals promote it because they think it will give them a political advantage in congress for the democrats. But in Puerto Rico, the status issue is seen in two different ways which divide the island. The Puerto Rican Liberals want Independence because they want to preserve the culture and heritage of the island like you see in this video which is also another reason why they want Act60 brought down, Puerto Rican Conservatives want statehood because they want more money to live off welfare and more federal funds to steal, and the pro-statehood party PNP and the governor who is a part of their party, they are open about how they know its harming local Puerto Ricans, but they are using it as leverage against congress to make the island a state. But Congress has authority over the island, so they could order the Puerto Rican government to take it down without giving statehood.
All in all, the tax breaks will come down very soon, and Puerto Rico will not become a state.

      Good 👍
But a lot of people who did, boost about it being the best decision of their lives on Instagram and Tiktok. And they ignore all the comments telling them it's f*cked up what they are doing exploiting the island and the people and that a day of reckoning is upon them when the incentives get taken down.😂
