As you know, there is a distinct difference between corporate income taxation and citizenship taxation. Trump has continued to look harshly on US companies who have moved overseas or plan to, and seeks policies to repatriate those. His stance regarding individual citizens seem to be the opposite, where he prefers to give citizens the benefit of moving outside the country without still being beholden to the US tax-wise. There's really no contradiction there since we're talking about mutually exclusive entities and how each is treated in the tax code.

With a European passport we could s far travel to Thailand without a visa. Furthermore these other countries like Cambodia were typical destinations for visa runs in order to get your permit to stay in Thailand renewed. All this will end, if these East-Asian countries form a Schengen-like community. Therefore it now gets far more difficult than before. These visa regulations get more and more annoying every year. Until WWI there was not even such a thing like passport or visa . Where is this "globalization" the politicians always talk about? Millions go illegally to the US every year or to the EU. So why do we need visas at all, while you can de facto enter the most important countries without any documents? If this "globalization" thing nd the "Global Compact of Migration" are meant serious, then visas should be abolished worldwide. It's just a tool of oppression.

Paraguay is a risky proposition long term. The residency looks easy, the Passport looks attainable, but the tiny loophole requirements make it a nightmare for people who are not approaching it as an attorney might. Paraguay has a very questionable past, and it's economy today is closely linked with contraband smuggling and narco-traffickers. That alone should give you pause. Any country that allowed the notorious war criminal Dr. Josef Mengele in and THEN granted him citizenship (!) should be viewed very cautiously. Paraguay is the Moldova of S. America.

El Salvador's policies are working for now but they will not work over the long run if they do not deal with the socio-economic factors that lead to young men joining gangs. Gangs are still very active, they have just gone deep underground and don't do the same brazen violent acts in the numbers they did before

Paraguay is terrible

Great video! I agree that Paraguay is far from ideal for those seeking dual citizenship and a fast track to naturalization. Paraguay's residency is one of the easiest in the world, allowing you to obtain temporary residency without proof of economic solvency. Paraguayan tax residency requires monthly filing of income, even if you don't have any. You can outsource this for just a few hundred bucks a year, so it's not a deal breaker unless you're broke and can't even afford that, but then you shouldn't get residency anyway. No country is perfect; neither is Ireland, with its woke agenda and EU obedience, which don't make it a country of freedom. Ireland offers one of the best passports and standard of living in the world. Every country comes with pros and cons, including Ireland and Paraguay.

Paraguay is best viewed as a back-pocket Plan B residency with no intention of getting the citizenship. Using Flag theory, it's a good flag to plant in S. America, just in case. And, on that note, it's one of the easiest to get and as you mentioned, happens to be a territorial tax country for anyone who does spend some time there using their residence permit. Along these same lines, Guatemala has a much higher level of crime compared to Paraguay, which happens to be a very safe country, especially for Latin America.

You missed the obvious big narrative for Paraguay. You have to report your personal income taxes in Paraguay MONTHLY and have to pay an accountant to do it!

I have and have had 12+ residence permits all around the world. The only place where i had issues was in Paraguay. The level of corruption in and around the government is off the charts. The default is you will be scammed. And the government changes the rules more often than a person changes his socks. Just a few months ago, they decided to shut down the department that issued the ID cards (cedulas). A process that used to take 2 weeks is now taking 3+ months. Just imagine...if residency is such a mess, what will happen when you try to apply for citizenship, which is a far more involved process.

I like your channel. But you are slightly incorrect on a few things. Dual cintizenship and Two or more citizenships are separate concepts. Paraguay has dual citizenship agreement only with Italy and Spain. A citizen of Spain and Paraguay at the same time in their Paraguayan passport states specifically that this citizen is a dual citizen of Spain and Paraguay. But Paraguay unlike South Korea , Singapour or Japan does not require you to renounce any citizenships you have when getting Paraguayan passport. None of your prior citizenships need renunciation and there is no verbal or written renunciation during oath of alegiance to Paraguay. You are simply a citizen of only Paraguay to Paraguay and you are only a citizen of another country for that other country. Your concept of constitution interpretation is not correct for Mauritius as well the same way. You are however correct on Panama they require you renounce all prior citizensships however only verbally during oath of Alegience. But no country accepts this oath as renunciation.And there are no repricutions in Panama if you dont actually renounce. It has no legal merit. Same goes for Spain although they require it in writing. But it also has no legal merit and no country will accept that written oath of alegience to Spain and written renunciation of all prior citizenships as renunciation procedure each country has. Paraguay citizenship however could only be your last one. They will not cancel your citizenship if you get another residency. But if you accquire another citizenship after paraguayan they get notified and they will automatically cancel your citizenship. They will also cancel your citizenship if you are away grom Paraguay for more than 3 years. We know all this now because we finally have actual cases of naturalizations in Paraguay. The process does indeed takes 2 years on average from application to passport. And you have to reside for 3 years on Permanent residency to Qualify and not be absent for more than 90 days combined in that 3 year period. 2 years to process As 9 judges have to sign your application and time varied from 4 days for one judge to 6 months for another. So if you take 6 months per judge its still a maximum of 4.5 years vs 12 that you quoted. Majority of apps however people get signed by all 9 judges in 2 years. Also El Salvador although asks for one mil for passport. Grants citizenship in one year for citizens of other latin american countries legally residing in El Salvador. And with Guatemala Residency by C4 agreement you can reside and work in El Salvador..The same concept of absense of naturalized citizens from Mexico and from Ireland for more than 5 years will cancel your citizenship in those 2 countries. Thank you for your honest video. I totally agree with you. Some big citizenship and services providers try to let you believe that you will receive it easy after 3 years. That’s not the case. Even with creating some kind of substance. Paraguay is just good as residency option but for me the problem is the waiting time for the cedula what is needed to open a local bank etc. It will cost you 2 travels or you have to stay there 4-8 weeks.
