    Thank you for your one year review of your your big red coop and the modifications you did to it. They reminded me of a couple modifications I need to do to mine. (I just finished watching that video and then I watched this one). Thanks so much for reviewing your plants. I'm so looking forward to getting a list of chicken friendly plants that I can use in and around my run. Thank you for reminding me about bringing out my rototiller to break up the dirt in my run for my girls so they can find some worms. I really appreciate your videos with little tips and tricks, they really make a difference.

    Great video, thanks. I particularly liked the bougaihvilea.

      Thank you! They’re one of my favorites because the colors just absolutely sing, and they like being abused. 😄 extreme low maintenance and they can handle the heat. Just watch out for those thorns!

    Thanks for the videos! We are getting the same coop. Do you have a fake snake in the flower pot by the fence? Around 2:50 timestamp.

      Lol yes! We move them around occasionally 😄🐍 and you will love the coop!

    what about your little gem? does the tree trunk have to be protected? when does it usually bloom?

    • @realsimplemama
      @realsimplemama  3 роки тому

      My little gem is doing GREAT! Growing about 2-4” at a time. It’ll bloom all spring and summer and the chickens hate the trunk and leaves. I’ll probably totally uncover the ground after this summer, as its roots have gone down deep enough that they can’t hurt it much anymore.

    I love your set up. I am in WI so my plants may be a bit different. I finally convinced my husband to make a run area like yours. I put some flower solar lights around it but it still needs something.🤔 My girls are so much happier. I would free range when we are outside supervising but then there was chicken poop everywhere not to mention them ripping up my flowers. Thanks for all of your good advice!

      Oh yes I get it! My older videos (when I was new to chickens) often dealt with that same issue - I wanted to let them roam around but I also have kids and the poop problem was no joke. You’ll have to let me know about your plants!

    Could you possibly do a video on enrichment ideas? 😊

      Hi! You mean like entertainment? 😄 I do have one - search the channel for “diversions” but I can see what I might add for 2021 too!

      You got it! But also look into a dust bath and a grazing box 👍🏼 I have videos on those too, they’re something for the flock to do and they have nutritional benefit too!

    My chickens are bored. I give them scratch and pellets. Mineral grit an crickers part time. But. Now that they have destroyed the grass. I have roped off area and reseed but, it takes 6weeks, 2weeks .aybe its gone. What to do. They just turned year. Help

    • @realsimplemama
      @realsimplemama  3 роки тому +1

      Oh yes I understand. It’s so annoying! You can plant things, build them a playhouse or ladder, dust bath, grazing box, even get a rake and dig around in the dirt and they’ll get so excited. I have the Diversions video you can search for as well as the dust bath and grazing box how-tos.

      Mine like black oil sunflower seeds but they do get tired of them, they go crazy for meal worms which I order locally, and they actually have responded really well to the grubterra black soldier fly larvae I did a review on this week. You could buy live worms from a fish and tackle shop, you can give them plain Greek yogurt or scrambled eggs, oatmeal with garlic and spices in it, mine also love watermelon and tomatoes!
