Tried this method many years ago with good success but definitely didn’t succeed 100%. Seen video this evening best ever which is simply a 1/2 inch drive socket inside and welded to larger 1/2 inch socket to create a v heavy socket. A pneumatic guns runs every crank bolt out. 👍

      @@ahmedkareem3601 taking the bolt off.
The hard part was tightening the bolt when I put the new one on because I didn't have a tool to hold the pulley to tighten the bolt down to 85"lbs (I believe). Believe it or not I used 4 particle board fan blades stacked. Drilled a big hole in the middle the size of the socket and two smaller holes for the bolts to screw into the pulley. You drill these holes in one end of the fan blades so you have leverage holding the pulley still. The bolts bent, but I was able to get the 85"lbs. Since the bolts were bent there was no way to back them out. So I just broke the particle board blades and straightened them then backed them out. One bolt broke off in the pulley so this method is not recommended. I was able to remove it easily, but still wouldn't recommend this method. If I were to do it again I would buy the tool I needed. But if I didn't have the money. I would've used 5 fan blades and used nuts on the distance of the bolt from the pulley to the fan blades to give it more strength so they wouldn't bend so bad.

Yeah I gotta do a 1995 Toyota Camry today, bump start method looks like it would get it out but like you said tightening it to torque is going to the biggest challenge. The woman I'm doing for rented the puller, but I think she's going to have to rent the tool to hold the pulley

@@CoffinNeAler yeah but I'm not doing the cam I'm replacing harmonic balancer, nobody rents the Crankshaft pulley holder for Toyota.. I'm sure starter bump method will break loose the bolt, use puller to remove harmonic balancer, reinstall new one. Torquing the bolt is what's going to be the issue. I've seen a few methods using a rag and chain, or remove the starter after I install new harmonic and wedge the flywheel to hold the engine. It's only 80 ft pds of torque.

@@CoffinNeAler Well good news I got the bolt out with bump start method with ease, didn't even have to use the harmonic balancer puller. The harmonic balancer slid right off by hand. The trickest part was tightening and torquing the bolt back, chain method didn't work so well. My only option was to put threadlocker on the bolt and removed the starter, wedged a crowbar against the flywheel had someone hold the crowbar and torqued it down to 80 ft lbs

How many liters of automatic transmission oil does a toyota corolla 1994 1.6 have? I don't have the manual, it's bad if you go over the level

I'm not sure about an 2004. This was a 1996 Corolla. You need to disable the firing mechanism. You can do this by taking the spark plug wires off but make sure you label them so you know where they go. If your car doesn't have wires and has boots on the spark plugs there is a connector that you can unplug. The key is to stop any spark from getting into the combustion chambers.

All you want to do is to turn the motor over to loosen the bolt. That's the easy part. The hard part is tightening the bolt back on the new pulley. You need a special wrench for that. You can read in the comments how I did it. You also need a pulley puller after you loosen the bolt to get the pulley off.
