    More than a collapse in the stock or real estate markets, inflation has a direct impact on people's standard of living. It’s no surprise that current market sentiment is so negative. To navigate this economy, expert guidance is more crucial than ever. ETFs, stock markets, and the housing sector are all volatile. My $350k portfolio has taken a serious hit.

    My portfolio doesn’t just cater to dividend stocks. I hold $VFIAX (S&P 500 index fund) in my Roth IRA and $VTI (Total Stock Market ETF) in my taxable brokerage account. Two of my largest holdings. The individual dividend stock positions all complement the index holdings.

    My portfolio for the past 30 years has always been self managed and I own 3 shares of Berkshire Hathaway Class A stock (BRK:A) which I bought in at about $17,000 during the mid 90s, I'm currently liquidating some of these positions to incoporate new Gen. Stocks, but am I better off re-investing into Gold as it seems stocks are a little too unstable right now.

      JEPQ is my favorite so far. I've been trading it for about a year. It pays monthly with over a 9% yield. It all also has stayed fairly level. The down side is that it was incepted in 2022 which means there is not a lot of history. I also like FEPI and SPYT. An ETF with more risk and payout is QDTE. It pays weekly but is higher risk because it just came out this year. The fund is based on covered calls which make money in any market, up or down. I have about 5% of my portfolio in it. It currently is has over a 40% yield but fluctuate.

I feel a need to focus on complete growth so I went 100% stocks, but does the SP500 and TSM overlap too much to make sense holding both? However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait but watching my portfolio of $450k dwindle away is such an eye -sore.

      Isn't VOO and VUG similar in the sense both are investing in the S&P 500? What is the difference? I thought it is generally advised against to invest in multiple ETFs or Mutual Funds?

    • @rogerwheelers4322
      @rogerwheelers4322 5 місяців тому +7

      There is 55% overlap with the holdings in VOO and VUG. 1 is tech heavy and the other is financials heavy similar, but not the same. VOO tracks the S&P 500; VUG is just focused on large cap growth stocks. VUG is a bit more volatile, but with a higher upside potential. VOO is a bit safer. I’ve never heard anyone advise against multiple ETFs/mutual funds. You just have to be aware of overlap. You don't have to act on every forecast, so I'll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best times to purchase and sell the shares or ETFs you want to acquire.

      I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over $2.8million.

      It all depends on how long you're willing to hold for, stocks might likely tank further, but making serious gains in this downtrend wouldn't be a problem if you're a pro. Reason I decided to work closely with an brokerage-adviser ever since the market got really tensed and the pressure became so much(I should be retiring in 17months) so I've had an brokerage-adviser guide me through the chaos, its been 9months and counting and I've made approx. 650K net from all of my holdings.

    I like investing in close-end funds that pay monthly dividends. The trick is to hold long term and reinvest the monthly dividends plus buy more shares on a monthly basis or whenever you can afford to. This can be easily done because close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market just like regular stock. That’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between $50k to $70k in dividend income.

There’s small caveats that I plan on going into more depth like VOO has outperformed SPLG by like 1% in the past 5 years so it “ makes up” for the .001% expense ratio loss. But in my opinion the .001% basis point on the expense ratio is soooooooo minor. It’s like you giving me 100 pieces of candy and not 100 pieces of candy and a lick of another.

    I own SCHD in my traditional IRA (about 14.50% of it as of now), but, given I’m a Fidelity fan, and has growth due to its holdings, I’ve wondered if I should switch. But given its overlap with the growth and broad market funds, I haven’t made the switch though.
    You really think FDVV has that “stability” factor like SCHD as well? Or maybe there is “enough” stability there given its top holdings? Decisions decisions

    • @Marcos_Milla
      @Marcos_Milla  5 місяців тому

      FDVV was long due to be included in a best etf list. It’s a high contender in my opinion among some of the best dividend ETFs. In terms of dividend growth, schd wins in my book compared to fdvv. In terms of higher potential long term capital appreciation, I would say fdvv has that factor. Value stocks and growth stocks do tend to rotate given market cycles, hence why schd has underperformed the market given growth and tech stocks being a large reason why the market has risen the past couple of years.

Making your money work for you is simple…. Invest in long term ETFs or index funds that I talk about on this channel (not financial advice) and please don’t day trade, options trade, forex, none of that. Just baby steps into creating long term wealth. Don’t get into high interest unnecessary debt. And spend less than you earn and you use the extra savings to be assets that grow (stocks, ETFs, a property, etc).
