That Stefan and Elena scene is one of my favourites of those two. He always knew Elena didn’t want vampirism for herself and he made her feel safe enough to be vulnerable with him about that. Stefan giving her the dignity of choice in her life and possible death was the best thing he could’ve done for her.

The scene with Stefan and Elena on the hill made me tear up. It was really poignant. I felt it was SO necessary to have a scene like that where they acknowledge just what becoming a vampire means--seeing every human you know and love die one day, losing the possibility of growing old and having a family. I loved that Elena didn't wanna be a vampire because it seems like most people say they do just because they wanna live forever and be badass, but there are all those aspects mentioned above that some people don't think about. Damon took away Elena's agency and freedom of choice and I would've been furious and resented him for so long if I were her.

I’d disagree about Damon loving Elena more because he went after Klaus - he only did that to stall the ritual because he force-fed Elena his blood, which means he was only trying to fix _his_ mistake. Not to mention the actual force-feeding despite knowing how that feels. That’s not love, that’s selfish.

@@hali_55 Yes, it would be out of her system, but it would also buy him some time (that's the whole purpose) to find another way out of the ritual for her, or to convince Elena of something else. He's the only one trying to think about different ways to save her, trying to look for other solutions. It's not just about fixing his mistake. Damon did that because he was in a state of panic, running out of time. But if he had till the next full moon, it'd give him a few more days to find a way to save her or even to kill Klaus. Like he said to Stefan and to Elena, he would do anything to keep her alive, and I'm sure he's the one who wouldn't stop for a second. He already lives in a world where the girl doesn't care about him and Elena clearly has hated him before. But the deep thing for me, it's him going to Klaus. It tells me that he doesn't wanna live in a world where Elena doesn't exist, because he doesn't believe that the elixir will work, so I find it hard to believe he did that only to fix his mistake. Doesn't mean he was right to feed her.

@@larabarsaglini250 What a way to bend yourself into knots romanticizing his actions... No, Damon isn't the only one thinking on how to save Elena or the only one capable of doing anything for her; Stefan has done it time and time again for her and others (Damon's alive because of him in many occasions)... No, what he did to Elena isn't "the epitome of romance", it was incredibly selfish and violating (once again forcing himself on Elena and women in general)... And while I do agree that him loving Elena was a big part of the reason why he did the things he did this episode in terms of stopping the ritual; there is also no denying that a big part is also him trying to "fix" his actions and save face (trying to mitigate Elena's anger towards him)

Has he changed and "made it right"?... he abused and used Caroline in the first season, and apart from never actually apologizing or even acknowledging that what he did was wrong, he is doing almost the exact same shit to Andie... soooo??
But, let's say that we want to keep it to Elena, to not go off topic to other things (even tho your original comment is about how Damon "acknowledges his wrongdoings and tries to make it right" in general); soo, how about forcing himself onto Elena? like he did this episode, where he didn't just forced a choice and his own opinion on the matter onto her but he actually physically forced himself onto her.... Isn't this something that happened on 2x01? When he assaulted her and then killed Jeremy?... How about specifically the subject of him turning her against her will? @siaahale13 @siaahale13 Thanks for the analysis. Congrats, you get a Gold 🌟 you've successfully defended stefan and are just as biased as you claim I am. Which I am. You say I'm congratulating mediocrity, but stefan has been nothing but mediocre since the first episode. He gets better further down the season. But as of right now, I'm not feeling his sense of urgency. he spends half the episodes trying to distinguish himself from Damon. Who he made into a vampire without his consent. Wanna talk about forcing someone now? Elena has more guts than he does. I agree that damon can be stupid, but I admire his motivation to save her. It's much more believable. When you love or care for someone, rhyme and reason clash. You are willing to do anything even if stupid to save that person. He doesn't lie to her. He doesn't trick her. She already knows who and what damon is and what he is willing to do for her. Stefan doesn't fight hard enough.

@@siaahale13 Now see this is the problem with Reading to understand and reading to respond. 1. I said damon was thinking outside the box. NEVER, did i relate it to him forcing elena to become a vampire. so that's your first mistake and You've based your whole argument on that assumption. WHEN I SAID, THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX, What you should've asked was in regards to what?
him coming up with the idea to save, caroline & tyler and killing the warlock guarding them, in order to weaken Klaus's plan, was a smart Idea. Whether or not Klaus was thinking 10 steps ahead. hence why, Alaric helped him. Stefan spent the whole day with elena to comfort her which was nice but he was reliant on Elijah's plan. Elijah doesnt owe them anything. Klaus is his brother. him sharing the information of the elixir is for his own benefit. Stefan is so focused on protecting Elena from Damon that he subsequently handed her over to Klaus. he's love for her might be real but his passion to save her is lacking. period.
When you are dealing with a Villain like Klaus, no idea is too bad to consider. Stefan is too self righteous. Remember stefan's body count, includes elena's ancestors. and the fact that you want to gloss over stefan coercing Damon into being a vamp is hilarious. if you read what i said then you'd know that as far as Stefan's attitude is considered, he has no right be self righteous with Damon. The only reason Elena is even in this situation is because of stefan's obsession with katherine. which led him to mystic falls. Elena would most likely be safer without either of them. but here we are. IF this is your first time watching this show, stop arguing and continue to watch. We've barely scratched the surface. you also seem to be under the impression that i think Damon can do no wrong, but your comprehension of what i said is inacurate. Damon has good intentions and bad ones but his always villianized due to the past and his impulsiveness. but stefan isn't safe from that as well. he is also impulsive and that has put elena in danger many times.
remember, Damon's plan to have bonnie fake her death is what kept bonnie safe when klaus almost killed her. what did stefan do in that moment? he comforted Elena. that's it. it wasnt even his idea. and as i said he does improve in this area as does Damon.
with all due respect, if you aren't paying attention, i suggest you go back and watch the episodes again.

@@erinjae8395 it’s pretty clear how anyone would assume your “thinking outside of the box” comment was in reference to damon force feeding elena his blood. you said, “people love to say damon is impulsive but atleast he is willing to think outside the box when needed. stefan just let klaus take her. damon would’ve died trying”. now let’s break this down:
      1. “people love to say damon is impulsive but atleast he is willing to think outside of the box when needed”. you specifically used the word “impulsive” which would be in reference to people’s problem with damon impulsively feeding her his blood, no? that’s literally what everyone in the comments is talking about. if that’s not the case (even though there’s no other case), what other impulsive scenario with damon that people are talking about would you be referring to? this specific episode as well.
      2. “stefan just let klaus take her. damon would’ve died trying”. first of all, stefan literally showed up to the sacrifice and tried to reason with klaus. he even was willing to die HIMSELF and give himself up to save someone elena cared about. elena was the only human doppelgänger and there was nothing that could be done about it, as it proved. even elijah told everyone that klaus was indeed going to have this sacrifice. secondly, what good would it have done for stefan to put up a fight he would’ve lost to, to an original hybrid vampire who couldn’t die? you say damons smart for his choices but what would you have preferred stefan to do? die trying? try to kill klaus and then klaus kill him anyway and STILL take elena? what’s smart in that? doesn’t make stefans care for elena any less.
      3. damon going to save elenas friends was good of him. smart? klaus’s plan and sacrifice still happened. and the sacrifice still would’ve happened regardless of caroline and tyler (and it did). damon wasn’t even winning the fight with the warlock until matt killed him. how is it smart when klaus was still ten steps ahead? that makes no sense. and what’s wrong with being reliant on elijahs plan? it wasn’t only elijahs plan but it was elenas plan and they all had talked about it already. elijah has already proved, more than once, that he was a trusted ally. he obviously didn’t owe them anything, but damon was the only one who had a problem with him, and that’s damons own fault. you said elijah doesn’t owe them anything, so why did he talk to elena about the elixir after damon questioned it? he was reiterating her own decision to her to make sure he wasn’t lying to her. his character already proved to be honorable and him & elena had a forming relationship and she talked with him more than any of them did. yes, klaus is his brother, but elijah was determined to kill him anyway so what does him being his brother had to do with anything? and how would elijah sharing the information of the elixir be for his own benefit? benefit for what exactly? also ironic that you say that, bc damon bringing up the fact that the elixir has no expiration date, was for HIS own benefit and not to mention his insane paranoia and stupid dislike of elijah, and we see that in the later scenes. stefan didn’t simply “hand her over to klaus”. klaus TOOK her. there was nothing stefan could have done. if he did, he would’ve most likely been killed. the options were to either let her go the easy way or the hard way. the hard way would’ve resulted in stefans death and klaus would’ve still had elena in his possession regardless. stefans passion to save her is always there. what.. does he have to die or smth to prove that his passion is truly there? where’s that same energy for damon who did nothing that resulted in elena not being used in sacrificed? spoiler alert: she was still used!
stefan too self righteous? wouldn’t that be the opposite and make him more inclined to have the passion to do whatever it takes to save her?? and what does your nonsensical idea of stefan being “too self righteous” have to do with any of this at all? and wdym remember stefans body count? for what particular reason does that pertain to his passion for saving elena? also im not glossing over stefan coercing damon into becoming a vampire. you’re the one who brung it up and tried to use the word “force” in similarity to what damon did to elena, and i refuted that. similar scenarios, yes, but not the same. since im apparently “glossing over” it, what more would you like to me to say about this specific subject? also what are you even talking about? stefan didn’t have any type of obsession with katherine. are we watching the same show? damon is the one who was obsessive over katherine. damons obsession with katherine is what led HIM to mystic falls. stefan thought he was katherine and was intrigued. if you wanna get specific, he was “obsessed” on figuring if it was actually katherine or not. don’t try to twist the stories and plots now. and yes, i honestly agree that elena would be a lot safer if either salvatore wasn’t in her life. damon is also villainized for his impulsiveness and the choices he decides to make in the NOW. why wouldn’t he be villainized for killing elenas brother? why wouldn’t he be villainized for abusing caroline? why wouldn’t he be villainized for killing or meddling with elenas friends? why wouldn’t he be villainized for the things he’s done or does in future episodes? you seem to think that the things he does shouldn’t be a reason to villainize him which is bizarre. he does bad things and make bad decisions. you reap what you sow. in what way is stefan impulsive? what ways has he put “elena in danger many times”? where’s all the plot to back any of this up?
and what does damons plan with bonnie have to do with anything? obviously it wasn’t stefans idea but what point are you trying to make with that lol? stefan comforted elena bc why wouldn’t he? stefan wasn’t in on the plan so there was no way of him knowing. i applaud damon for what he did but still trying to figure out how that ties into this conversation. the rest of your argument is you just glazing damon.

@@siaahale13 I think both of them are very complex, tbh. But of course, that's just my opinion. When it comes to Elena, Damon can screw up a lot and be a jerk for not respecting her decision, but Stefan can be annoying sometimes because of the whole "let her be, this is her choice". I often get this feeling that Elena is always willing to give up too easily or to fight for vampires when she's much weaker and doesn't want an afterlife. And Stefan seems to be okay with that. He's the vampire so I think they should've spoke about those things at the very beginning of their relationship. If my significant other tries to save everyone by accepting their death without trying hard to figure out another option or to be more certain that the solution offered will work, I'd be like Damon. Stefan's respect can get Elena killed, when he's the supernatural creature who should be more aware of their relationship, which is not a common one. Meanwhile, Damon will never get Elena's respect by disrespecting her. Both brothers are extremes.

    • @siaahale13
      @siaahale13 Місяць тому +3

@@larabarsaglini250 i believe they’re described as complex sometimes bc of the constant comparing of both characters and it’s just simply easier to use the word “complex”. i think individually they can be complex, but more specifically stefan. i feel like he’s one of the most complex characters in the show (hence future episodes). and annoying? for stefan allowing the love of his life to have her own respectable choices? that’s definitely not the right word for that nor do i think that even happens enough for that word to be used. if anything, i feel like it would be more annoying for someone like damon who constantly goes against the majority and who pesters elena, going on and on about how she isn’t capable of thinking for herself. i don’t think elena gives up too easily at all. i feel like it’s easy for people to say that bc her trying to sacrifice herself was a big plot point for season 2 and was basically near the finale. the options were weighed and there was nothing she could have done, nothing that anybody thought of, except for defeating klaus but that backfired bc no one knew klaus jumped into alarics body until last minute. other than that… when has she given up “too easily”? i mean, maybe there’s other instances?? i can’t think of any off the top of my head rn. and as for “fighting vampires” and being weak, elena has proved to be smart and used her empathetic nature to help people close to her. that’s not weak in my book. i mean, she did it with damon and she got what she wanted out of him, she used it with elijah, used it with the vampire who was lexi’s boyfriend, and many other times. the times where she would put herself in those situations were times where she NEEDED to do that, either bc no one else was around or bc one of the people in her life was injured. i believe she also trusts those beside her to protect her. this was also more so in earlier seasons when she quite literally just found out about vampires and the supernatural world, and most likely underestimated them. i think her putting herself in those situations though proves that she’ll doing anything to protect the ones she loves, even if that means her dying. her being a doppelgänger as well gives her a lot of leeway which makes perfect sense.
i don’t agree with stefan simply “being okay with that”. i don’t understand this bc there have been many times where stefan wasn’t okay with elenas decisions. in fact, he’s never okay with it. when it’s laid out, they communicate and talk with each other, and he’ll hesitate and show obvious hesitance, but he knows giving her a choice is what matters and the right thing to do. a lot of people think elenas decisions and choices are stupid sometimes, and i feel like part of that is bc she’s human and they immediately underestimate her, granted in a world full of powerful supernatural beings but again, humans are also powerful in this show and that has been proved a whole lot. often times, supernatural creatures overshadow the humans in the show bc they’re physically stronger and are mystical beings, but humans have the capability of outsmarting them. there have been many times where humans have overpowered supernatural creatures. also, people think elenas decisions to be “stupid and rash” bc she’s just a young simple teenage girl. or the fact that it’s dumb bc it’ll ultimately result in her death. elena knows that. even though she’s young, she’s smart enough to realize her importance in life or death situations, and many times she’s made great decisions only for them to be interrupted by someone, both reasonably and unreasonably, but that’s a conversation for another day. and just bc supernatural beings are strong, there have been many times where they proved that they weren’t the brightest.
and elena DID try hard. everyone tried hard. no one had other ideas other than promising that “nothing bad will happen to her”. they’re confident on themselves and coddle her but she’s strong enough to understand reality and does the smart thing to protect her friends and the people she loves, even if that results in her death. she just has too many people that care deeply about her lol.
a lot of people like to use the, “if my significant other did so and so, i would’ve done the same thing as damon” for this situation, but it’s so easy to say that when many people are at risk. friends and family, and not just hers either. and stefan DOES understand the risk of her dying. im pretty sure he understood that every time he saw her bc she is in fact human. she’s always at risk. thats why damon got mad at stefan when he told him that the one thing he’ll never have is her respect. elena is a human being and her choices are always valid, just as anyone else’s is for themselves. she doesn’t want to become a vampire and she wants to save the people she loves. she’s at risk regardless bc her being a doppelgänger, the bounty on her head is a death sentence in itself. stefan doesn’t have to make her choices for her and understands the importance in that. damon doesn’t and selfishly disregards her many times, simply bc he wants to keep her alive for himself, no matter the hurt it causes her until after the fact. stefan is super aware of their relationship. their communication is phenomenal. their talking scenes are probably the most simple yet loving things about the show. they’re both empathetic towards each other and deeply understand ones feelings. that’s not stefan being extreme, that’s stefan being a caring and understanding lover. there’s nothing “extreme” about that lol. we’re not going to sit here and pretend stefan respecting elenas choices is the same as damons selfish and most certainly “extreme” decision to take away her choice. both brothers are wildly different and we see that in different scenarios. damon did a bad thing and we’re not gonna pull stefan down to damons level; there’s no accountability in that at all and he needs to be held accountable. he even holds himself accountable in a sense of understanding what he did was stupid, and the other people around him telling him the same. and you say both are extreme, but the two choices stefan and damon had were to either let her have her own choice or force her to become a vampire. is there some other non extreme option? what other option would there be that wouldn’t be labeled as extreme? those were the only two options! they both can’t be extreme.

@@siaahale13 I'm turning our convo into topics, bcs I don't wanna lose myself and leave something out
1 - Yes! I do love Stefan's complexity, but I really like Damon's... developing arch??? (Idk if this is even a word) here because he was once coerced to become a vampire and now he was the one to force fed someone he clearly cares about. That can explain his line "I screwed up" (reflecting a tad bit faster now) and feeling like he crossed a bigger line with Elena. I mean, he did other things to her, but to me, this one seems to have taken a bigger toll for him. Or course, Stefan has something coming up that will showcase how complex he is, but I really like the tiny details that aren't always highlighted. He needs to be held accountable for it, for sure. But just the fact that he's doing something wrong and in a way, it's kinda mirroring something that happened to him before... I enjoy the fact that this could've been something that made him reflect about his actions faster than if this had happen around pilot. Like you said, individually, they both have their stuff and I agree that Stefan is probably one of the most complex characters.
      2. And yes, again, I do find Stefan annoying for many many different reasons, but that doesn't mean that I think that everything that Damon does is right or neither that he's correct or that Elena should break up with Stefan to be with him!
I find it amazing that every single character has flaws and even as vampires, they have the human part of imperfection. I quite like that their emotions are enhanced.
      3. I don't wanna give any spoilers out, so I'll try to hold on to a bit of information while still giving some answers. I can understand the respect behind sacrificing yourself for people that you love, like Elena does throughout the show. That can't be an easy decision at all. But to me, personally (and I'm 100% sure people will find me evil af) I relate a lot more to Katherine in a sense of putting myself first. But I guess that's something that reflects my personal background, the things that I've been through in my life and how my survival instincts tend to hit, since it's different for everyone.
      4. I completely understand your point about Elena and I can agree with it. You're totally right, she is a smart girl who sometimes, makes stupid decisions, just like everyone else. Like trying to get into a house full of vampires from the tomb to save her boyfriend when they already had two people there executing the rescue mission: a vampire AND a human. I don't really think that humans are weak, but there's so much that a regular teen without proper training can do. Yes, she did help, but the result could've been very different. It was a vampire fight and sometimes, you cant just walk into a (clearly) physical supernatural fight against a significant number of vampires armed with just good intentions and brain. Power still power in some occasions. I honestly think that it's not in every moment that Elena can outsmart supernatural creatures who are stronger and wiser. She managed to do that with Elijah and it was well done, but that's why she went so willingly with Klaus. I mean, the man was literally standing in front of her, so at that point, there was nothing else to do, really. I absolutely love what's about to come next for her in terms of "stronger" and that's when her character starts to get more interesting for me.
      5. I still believe Damon's questioning about the elixir and trying the Gilbert ring were very valid, for instance. She was dead set on drinking the potion with no expiration date that a 1000 year old vampire she doesn't know very well and who just came back from the dead carries around in his pocket for Katerina. But Katherine clearly didn't drink it, so it was something with no guarantee. And Elena was okay with that. Props to her bravery. And here, I go back to number three. Here's where my personal life gets in the middle. Right after being rescued from being offered as a pardon gift by Rose and Trevor and after learning that someone's coming for me, I would've told the truth to Aunt Jenna and bought a plane ticket. Would've asked Bonnie if she knows a spell that could hide me for a while, maybe keep me and my family (if they want to come together) inside somewhere...
      6. And I don't think that Stefan should not listen or respect Elena's opinions. She's allowed to be her own person and to decide for herself, of course. But what I mean is that I would've absolutely loved if they had a bit more of clash of heads about her sacrifice. To Stefan, he'll grieve the love of his life for eternity. Like you said, is not easy for him either. But I idk maybe.... If he had been more vocal about how he would feel with her death? People react differently ofc, and he actually tried to hold on to her when Klaus came to pick her up, but Damon was the one going all su***dal mission when he realized that there was nothing else that could've been done because they wouldn't be able to delay the ritual and to think about other ways out. I purely meant that I would've enjoyed if Stefan had a bigger reaction because that's his girlfriend and I guess I wasn't very successful while trying to articulate myself or with my choice of words. English isn't my first language so I'm trying my best to pick better words to build my sentences right now...
      7. Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember rn if Stefan and Elena had a convo about dating as vampire and human. Ofc otherwise we wouldn't have a story out of it. Elena did her full round of questions about it at the beginning, they broke off when things go too dangerous, but hey - this was dangerous from the get go. For Stefan in particular, his perception of time is very different from hers, because his clock is forever frozen till someone drives a stake through his heart. She may be 17, but he's 100. Idk and I don't remember if they have a scene in which they discuss something like this till this episode, when Elena already has vampire blood in her system. About her perception of vampirism and if she wants that for her future, since the love of her life is one. So if you have any scenes from them like that and if you could tell me the episode, I'll gladly watch it again and pay more attention to it!
      8. What I'm trying to explain here is that Stefan is super duping level 3000 understanding. I get that, that is beautiful, that is the correct, I understand. But I would've loved to have seen him being more vocal about it or showcasing more of his anger or whatever over losing her. Paul Wesley is such a great actor and I wanted to see a scene like that in this season.
I really appreciate the patience and willingness you showed to explain all your points, views and morals to me! I honestly want to start a podcast with you because I'd like to hear more from your perspective of the show hahah

@@larabarsaglini250 i noticed that people tend to find the inherently good characters to be annoying… why is that? it’s like some ongoing trend that never ends haha. you said you find stefan annoying and i know many other people find elena annoying unfortunately. im curious of the reasons why you find him annoying if you don’t mind explaning.
the difference between katherine with elena is that katherine has no family. she’s alone and has always looked out for herself. the only one she can depend on is herself. she’s a very manipulative and selfish character, and her whole thing is to simply survive. now with elena, she has family, friends, and a selfless persona which is why she does the things she does and makes the hard decisions when it pertains to herself.
what elena did going into that house wasn’t the smartest decision, but again, i feel like she was a bit naive as she just entered the supernatural world. i just think overall she hates the idea of doing nothing to help. the people around her are constantly telling her to stay put but she can’t do that. she simply can’t sit down when the people she loves are in danger. i think that’s why putting herself in those types of situations is so constant.
i don’t think damons wrong for questioning the things that are supposed to resuscitate her. i mean he obviously cares about her. with the elixir, no one knows if it would have worked or not. it’s the only elixir we know of and an original vampire was carrying it. the only person who didn’t trust elijah was damon. at this point, elijah proved to be a man of honor and she trusted him. damon is the one who didn’t. they didn’t have one on one talks like him and elena did, and damon kept betraying elijahs trust. damon was the one who brought up the “expiration date”. this entire episode was just “damon against the world”. and even though i understand his reasonings for the things he does, his constant meddling isn’t good. he sometimes doesn’t think and makes rash decisions which is his downfall. and everyone focuses on there not being a guarantee but there wasn’t a guarantee that she would die either.
how vocal do you want stefan to get?? stefan was pretty vocal about it. stefan always wants to protect elena and puts himself in front of her any chance he gets. when he found out elena had planned on sacrificing herself without telling him, he was devastated. and when she had planned to willingly go to klaus, it wasn’t a dead set on guarantee that she wouldn’t come back, but stefan is all about trust, and he trusted her with this. he put his faith in the person he loves, and that’s the difference between stefan and damon. i feel like people think he wasn’t as vocal or “caring” (not saying you’re saying he wasn’t caring) bc he was basically okay with the plan, especially compared to damon who was just dead on set of her being alive. you seem to be comparing both stefan and damons actions and in the way they reacted to elena being apart of the sacrifice. there was nothing else they could do. im certain they were ALL most likely constantly thinking about ways to avert the sacrifice from happening at all. time just wasn’t of the essence and they were in the presence of a hybird original vampire. there wasn’t much to do, which is why the sacrifice continued on anyway. damons actions after he fed elena his blood was bc he had upset elena and was trying to “fix” it. notice how they were all trying, and there were indeed scenes of damon frantically trying to prevent the sacrifice from happening, but again, none of them could stop it. so highlighting on wanting stefan to “try harder”… i feel is so futile bc there wasn’t much he could do. there wasn’t much any of them could do. they’re just flimsy baby vamps & a human in front of a strong original. not only that but klaus’s threats were true and they all know it. they knew what he was capable of. they were smart to not interfere more.
i can’t really remember any scenes of them talking about their future and the dynamics of her being a human and him a vampire, but i feel like there wasn’t much room for that as many life threatening situations were occurring and they had much more important things that they were going through. when elena broke down to stefan about not wanting to be a vampire, i think she had never really thought about it deeply until stefan talked with her about it. she’s young, and scared, and always talks about wanting a normal experience of life. i also think that maybe since we don’t really see her talking about it, more specifically her becoming a vampire, that it was an indicator she didnt want to? maybe it wasn’t a thought she ever had. i think that idea came to life though when damon force fed her his blood and she really had to take it in and possibly accept that she would become a vampire.
curious.. since you keep talking about wanting stefan to do more or be more vocal; do you want him to have the same reaction as damon did? bc the only reason i could think of why someone is saying this is of damons controversial reaction to the entire thing. like stefans reaction wasn’t enough or smth. you don’t seem to be complaining about damons reaction to the entire thing so im just curious if damons reaction was perfect for you or if you wanted to see more or less of anything from him in this scenario. i think that’s what makes the contrast between them so good. they both reacted… accordingly in a way but they are not the same.
this is a little smth extra i thought of but no one seems to be putting themselves in elenas shoes. rather, it’s always, “if i was damon, i wouldve done the same thing”. why does no one think about the fact that if they had made a choice and it was ripped out forcibly, it would just be cool and dandy? i also always see people somehow empathizing with damon in this situation rather than the actual victim at hand.
and thank you for reading and responding! i love talking about characters and just have an overall interest in characters, specifically ones who don’t do well with other people. i try to understand their reasoning and such. i would love to do a podcast or maybe just smth simple like a report on underrated characters and things of that sort. i don’t know if you’ve watched the walking dead but lori is another character im passionate about, alongside elena (tvd obviously) as well. i think both characters are wrongly judged.

obviously it’s logical in the sense of her resuscitating, but that would result in her transitioning to become a vampire, which she never wanted. the point is, there should never even be an “option” to complete the transition or not. damon would also be making that choice for her which wouldn’t even be a thing if he respected her choice. and her death wasn’t “likely”. they were pretty sure that she would be coming back as a vampire since damon force fed her his blood.

It really was the only logical option. You should always "Respect" her decision but that doesn't mean you have to honour it. Not every decision is the correct one. It's a very similar dilemma to a later scenario (won't spoil it). Also what risk towards her loved ones did she weigh because if Damon hadn't freed Caroline and Tyler they Were BOTH going to be sacrificed ALONG WITH HER. @@ibts6519 EXACTLY! She can say she didn't want to be a vampire which is completely fine. I'm all on board with the fact that Damon shouldn't have fed her his blood against her will but if it wasn't that, it was death and a few moments ago she seemed resigned to it. So her crying about growing old makes no sense because she wasn't planning on doing so anyway if she had literally resigned herself to death earlier in the day.

@@bellesvideos9578 My comment about Elijah and trusting his knowledge was not about him being certain that the elixir would work, it's about Damon's self confidence that he knows better than everybody else, including a 1k year old vampire... He took his own opinion as fact and forced upon Elena, rendering useless whatever other option they were working on... He made that decision himself thinking that he knows better than anybody... Even if he didn't know that vampire blood would render the elixir useless, THAT'S THE POINT, HE DIDN'T KNOW... yet he acted like his "instincts" and personal feelings and fears and paranoia are above everyone else's, including forcing them upon Elena... And BTW, he knew that giving her vampire blood would fuck up their other plans, and did it anyways, given his response and lack of shock when Elijah told him and took away the Elixir
That's the real problem, that's the core of my argument... First, Damon's attitude about his own self importance and the fact that he forced them upon another person when HE KNOWS JACK SHIT... And second, the attitude of Damon's fans who do justify his actions, and you are justifying it; and that they accept, given your comment, this idea that he holds all the answers, the unquestionable decision making capabilities and when he does something, even if it's wrong, there are always these reasons that minimize his actions... Look at how you much time you are spending explaining not only Damon's motives, but also how he was actually right in thinking what he was thinking, VS the half a line dedicated to saying that what he did "wasn't right"... To me you are clearly implying that you don't think what he did was "right" but his reasons were right; how does that work? Because his reasons are the context that lead to the act... And third, this absurd idea that Damon is the only one actually willing to do everything for Elena or his loved ones, and that Stefan isn't; when it was shown time and time again (specially as someone who has watched the whole show, and I assume you have) that Stefan is willing to do it... But when Damon does it it's romantic, when Stefan respects Elena's output ON HER OWN LIFE'S DECISIONS, he is weak or a simp, and when he actually does something hardcore for the good of others, it's either ignored and played down (hence people saying that "Damon is the only one who...") or he is called out and demonize for doing things that Damon has done too at even worst amounts... Like when he was doing anything possible to get the cure for Elena or when he was helping her after transition and people jumped on his throat about "forcing" things on Elena or disregarding her feelings (which he didn't); which usually came from Delena fans who brushed off every instance when Damon actually did it, even the big ones like this episode or when he assaulted her on episode 2x01

Damon does no wrong idc idc 😭 he’s my favorite character and ill always support his every decision. I love him because morally he knows he’s messed up and if you acknowledge that you did that makes you a better person then when you made the impulsive decision. He’s a flawed character but he’s realistic and you’ll see later into the show.

your bias is showing HARD. also, if you acknowledge something and continue on to do it constantly without learning from your mistakes, that doesn’t make you “better”. and him being flawed doesn’t ultimately make him or means he’s realistic either.

@@siaahale13please take a chill pill. You're combing through this comment section being rude and nasty and argumentative to anyone who dares to say anything not remotely negative about Damon lol. If a fictional character in some teen drama show is affecting you THIS much, then perhaps you need to take a step back because I can't imagine how you'll enjoy any of the rest of the reactions. People like him. Always have, always will, and you're going to be miserable if it makes you this upset
