The original inscription at the back of the car « Manche » is for the French département (number 50) it originates from. You can spot this on the original French registration plate seen in the archive picture.
I've got one... It was completely rusted and the chassis had been fixed many many times... I just bought an old Dyane 6, cut the rear end of the chassis (as it is a bit longer than the van) and put the AZU body on it, but keeping the Dyane suspension, engine and transmission so it now handles better, is way faster and more powerful with the 602 and the twin barrel carb plus it has front disc brakes with the LHM system... It might not be original but, let's face it... Those are not a Hispano Suiza... This old 2cv's are meant to be driven, used and have fun with them, so for that purpose it is perfect and enjoyable.
I know Im randomly asking but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Harlem Brian Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
A fantastic video . I love 2CV vans , the older the better. It’s clearly gone to a good home , and to have Lotus Cortina as well.... Loved the Turkish prison line ....
No French tradesman would ever have Monsieur Plessis on his van - or on his headed paper come to that. It would always be surname first then christian name and no Monsieur. Indeed, even today, that is the more popular style.
You are absolutely right. The letter guy is incredibly talented but the "Monsieur" ruins it all. Instead you should mentioned his son(s). Plessis et fils. Nobody calls himself Monsieur in France.
You'd also rather put " menuiserie" instead of " menuisier" to refer to the business rather than your job description. Like " Menuiserie Plessis" and then underneath "Coutanche" so that people can find you (if you don't want to put a phone number).
@@ankhi3585 Yep. Correct. No Monsieur and no Job description. Well, I guess that they have to redo the whole lettering job. Right now the 2CV looks like it was decorated for a Netflix serie, packed with french clichés....
@@ankhi3585 Yes, this is the most realistic. Indeed most French adresses had no phone number before the 80s (So having one showed your business was flourishing).
Would have been nice if the video actually covered any of the ground it suggests it covers in the title. No information at all on "how to upgrade with authentic original parts" apart from, "get a man to do it for you".
Luckily that man was Rick Pembro. For those who know this endlessly nice chap, that’s all the input they needed here. Lovely car too. And the chap who bought it back seems to have the perfect outlook too!
That is what's known as a platitude. A meaningless statement of the absolutley obvious that imparts nothing, but is repeated so frequently as to become the nonsensical delusion that it imparts some kind of mystical, sage wisdom, when in fact, the exact opposite is true. 'it is, what it is'.
Not sure about that sign writing-too much of an 'English' twist . The front doors may have been sign-written but with 'Continental ' style French script.
Ruined it with the signwriting. With a little research, it could have been done correctly. If I were going to do it, I would have sourced his telephone number and or address and made it complete. However, at that time and still to an extent today, he would have relied upon word of mouth and wouldn't have wasted money on having the van sign written.
They are a terrific vehicle. Not everything needs 1000 hp. Sometimes it is just nice to putt alone a country road taking in the experience.
They're called bikes
Nice to see your still fixing 2CV's Rick, slightly greyer than last time we met
My mother had a orange 2CV, she still remember it fondly and misses it decades later

My parents had one of these in the 80s. My father made two off set seats in the rear for me and my sister.
I love this show, but with Drew involved in every show! Gosh I love the UK too! 🇺🇸

@Harlem Brian It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass!
@Vihaan Matteo you are welcome =)
Glad it came back to the one who importet it. So it is in good hands.

We have A old 2cv

It just shows the importance of asking a professional translator (which I happen to be) :-)

I like the videos of drew picking 🔥 idrc about these ones or the refurbishing ones
The Citroen chevron logo is actually a representation of the teeth on helical gears. Not a lot of people know that.
I did !
Please someone, throw a pint over Drew for being so smug. His only input in this was that he made it harder for someone else to sign write it.
Those engine mods were a bit of an "and then a miracle happens" moment! But then this is not Wheeler Dealers.... Nice sympathetic result on the van.
That is a cool little van
i own one they are so much fun
Belíssimo exemplar de 2CV, parabéns pela restauração.
Short arsed little "PLEASE INSERT OWN EXPLETIVE" they all work.
0:25 -- Les Diaboliques! Check if there's an extra large wicker chest inside!
Le macchine vecchie sono le più belle ..😍🙌💖💖
Good for you, excellent choice. But an R100 engine sure is tempting, and up to 70 HP...
You can fit a supercharged bmw r1100 moterbikw engine... and it fits onto the original gearbox.
Hayabusa! There is a mad man made a v8 Hayabusa.
Nice car. It sounds different with more horse power. More power without brake system improvement does not seem a good idea, even on a 2CV
I Iive my life a quarter mile at a time, for that minute and 18 seconds... I'm free.
And a white chock block connector behind the carb !
Looks great
Nice video
Don't you think the next owner might be buying to advertise there own business, with there sign writing on it
I was half expecting him to say, I'll do it for ten quid, and a packet of gaulois
Is it going to overheat?
This is my dream car....but I saw one 4 years ago in st David's Pembrokeshire......so I have no chance of ever owning one..
They are not that crazy expensive...10~15k should get you a dezent one
@@doomerbro4131 for that money i would want the lotus not the 2cv..
Nice ::::
It wasen't brushed to the metal when faked the aged writing I hope? It doesn't need to start rusting...
BMW motor is good upgrade. Saying that our families 425cc ripple is completely standard.

'it is, what it is'.
@@simonlloyd7557 All semantics aside, here in the "States" that is what it is. I own two of them an AZAM, and an AK400

From 12 to 21 horse power is not almost double its a 75% increase not 100% !
Add the engine of a GS and you'll have enough power.

Manche is that the verb to eat? Then we have the shit on the side
@Real Aiglon humour is a full time job ...Apparently , she's unemployed.
Did you bleach the rubbish
1000 pounds for 8hp ? Yikes !

The sign writing was tacky and stupid.
The carb looks like a Chinese knock-off, a rebuild original carb would have been more authentic .
