Yes it's an oil and it's to protect the paint used on top of the chrome (that faint aqua color) cause it's acrylic and delicate so be careful not to handle it with your bare hands so much. If you look at the Saint cloth myth ex line (Saint Seita) they all come with that oil on the armor for the same reason (paint is acrylic) I usually wash it off with dish soap and warm water, let it dry and finally apply a coat of varathane x3 polyurethane on all the painted chrome parts, but be careful if you decide to do this cause it dries up quickly but it gives it good protection and even better shine!
I wonder if using high gloss varnish sprays for miniatures like Army Painter would work on these to give them a protective coating as well. Though I don't own the figure myself and would be too scared to actually try applying it if I did own one.
@@Dalehan I've tried it and it melts the acrylic paint, had to re paint my Sagittarius Seiya. Saint cloth myth Ex figures are easy to coat cause the armor is separate from the base figure but in the case of Metal Cooler I think you're gonna have to take the whole figure apart.
What about Mr Hobby gloss top coats? They are water based if i am not wrong

Just received mine today. It was a stretch at the time but I'm so glad I bought 2 copies
The saint seiya figures from Saint Seiya (also from BanDai) have that oil but that is only on the diecast parts/armor.
Something curious about the packaging is that this one does have a background as shiny as the figure and an instruction page.

I have this figure and truly amazing one of my favorites my only problem with the metal cooler is he feels extremely light like hes hallow or something from the inside

This year for DBZ shf has been pretty meh for me I couldn't care less for 90% of the DB line and actually started to buy more shf from different anime and am currently enjoying them more. This guy!!! Metal Cooler is the only! Figure I was genuinely excited for! This is the only figure since 2021 I will get two of

Lol you just listed the reasons they charged so much: shiny, finger prints resistant and super articulated. With lots of quality control done.
You can get all of that for a 60 to 70 dollar figure. Most of my exclusives are in that price range and have pretty much the same quality at half the price.

While true. There are exclusives that were released after him at a way cheaper cost and with more plastic used. Example, Orange Piccolo.

And then you have cooler which is arguably way more popular than most characters on the show. I'm sure that's why they're holding off on tapion and nova shenron and janemba cause they know they have more fans to sell to.
Hey Dstar I need your help on this figure I got, i just bought this figure which Is a ssbj Goku and the neck joint got stuck in the head and I couldn’t take it out so any advice how to take it out please help if you can see my message :(
Get a cup, fill it with water and put in the microwave for about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes and carefully take it out from the microwave and take the head from where the piece is stuck and dip it in there for 7-10 seconds (it’ll soften up the plastic but be careful) and grab some tweasers and slowly and carefully pull it out

Great review Dexter but what a boring figure to look at, it looks like those old disco ball mirrors with such a cheap Chinese plastic look, the tail joints are a different color... you can't understand anything about the figure's definitions with so much reflection, and all for a completely ridiculous price.
Anyway, happy for those who like it and bought it.
In the figures defense, I have 3 20w LED studio lights set to their maximum right on him.

To each their own, I personally hate the bulked up Cooler design. That 2nd cooler movie is so fun to me. Back on Namek, Roshi-Oolong-Yajirobe hijinks, Gohan Krillin Piccolo as the B-team trio Ftw, Vegeta’s first DBZ movie and that fuckin surprise kick entrance. Cool seeing him and Goku fight freezas brother, on Namek, as a ssj duo…. Also I think Metal cooler looks cool. I’m very excited to add this overpriced figure to my collection. Been waiting like, 6 years for this one.
