never cover your LCD with tape. It will be a big hassle to remove the tape adhesive from the LCD. just cover it with paper or micro cloth and keep it until ready to put it back again
Yes, but be extremely careful about the temperature. Do not go over about 90c, and if you have broken glass that leaves the insides exposed, you have to watch out not to overheat components and melting them accidentally.
