the worst, and I mean the very worst part was watch people, human beings, mothers, fathers taking charge of their deaths and JUMPING hand in hand down 50 stories to their deaths.
    this happened many many times.
It was heart breaking and I am tearing up right now remembering those poor souls.

Your Elder mentions the dust from the collapse. This was a very insightful and intuitive statement on his part. Most people don't realize that just as many first-responders ( as many as the civilians that died on that day in those Towers) have now died after surviving those Twin Towers. They have died and continue to die because of what was in that dust. And that's not even talking about the first responder dogs. It got so bad for the dogs that they started becoming depressed because they couldn't find any live people. The First Responders would actually start hiding themselves in the debris so the dogs could find a live individual because the dogs were becoming so sad and depressed by the fact that they couldn't find any living people

    • @CuzKatieSaysSo

Thanks for mentioning that. I recall too, that they did that, hid so the dogs could find someone. Poor sweet souls. Of course, every one of those dogs are gone now. *Neither Babu, Sarru, nor Raju realized before this, that there were FOUR planes that were headed to FOUR buildings not all near each other...and that last one never made it's target because the passengers rallied against the hijackers, feeling if they crash, it's better than the plane hitting whatever target the hijackers were set on. The Pentagon is NOT in NYC, sirs, and neither was the 4th target. Also, it was not just Americans on those flights and in those towers. The Twin Towers had thousands of folks, many from other countries, doing business for their countries, in America. The emotions I felt, that those folks died for America, not even for their own countries. That is especially sad.*

It was good, and maybe all of that day may have overwhelmed these gentle men, seeing and absorbing it all at once. It did us, that day, right?
It is still a wonderful watch. Previously, on one of their channels and maybe here, they watched Operation Boatlift. That itself is emotional to see. Plus the texts from the Flight 93 I believe...that story alone is heartbreaking. ALL of it in one day....well, we were overwrought for weeks, recovering from processing all that happened that day. Perhaps the channel's creators took that into account.
Gander, Newfoundland, Canada is another tale of that day.
The operation to bring more firefighters, rescue workers with search dogs to find bodies, etc to NYC is yet another incredible story.
The Pentagon hit is another story by itself as well.
Far too much occurred that day and it IS overwhelming and DID 'damage' Americans headspace for quite some time. Telling the stories to those who know minimal information about 9/11 should be done in a much longer time frame than normal for these videos, plus, I do wonder if they used a less all inclusive video of that day and thought to give the whole story in pieces.
My gut tells me these men would be horrified and wouldn't get the images out of their minds, if told the entire story and sub stories in one sitting. If you like these guys, you should watch it.

I showed up at school not knowing what had happened until I went into my first period history class. We just sat in stunned silence while watching the news. We didn't do any work that I can recall. As soon as I got off the bus, I saw my dad pull his car into the driveway, as he had come home early from work. We just looked at each other, ran in the house, turned on the TV and cried. *I am 60, and I will never forget September 11, 2001, and in vivid detail of every minute of that day. I can literally feel every emotion from every minute, and whenever I again watch video or hear audio of the events, it sharpens even more. It's happening now, as tears are coursing down my cheeks. All the individual events, together on a timeline...including Operation Boatlift and such...it rips at the healed-over scars on my heart and soul, from the original events and day. So much devastation, obliteration, tragedy and loss...and so much courage, sacrifice, love and help that poured in not only from around our country far and wide, but from other countries, rushing to our assistance. Like a blanket of love, sympathy, and help, covering multiple scenes of horror.*

We weren't in the US, but I remember the day just as vividly. Got home from school, to hear the phone ring. It's my father. He didn't say hello or anything else, he just said, "Turn on the TV and put on the news channel." I relayed his instructions to my mother, who was in the living room. She did as he asked and for a long time none of us said anything. We were just trying to process what we were seeing/hearing.
The following day at school was incredibly somber. I was one of the first students sitting in the classroom, one of my classmates came in, we just looked at each other. "You saw the news?" A nod and more silence. And it kept on like that until the bell rang and our teacher came in...we did not have our math lesson, instead we all quietly talked about what happened, he asked us how we felt and allowed us to express our thoughts. That same day, the principal had all the students and faculty gather in the schoolyard for a moment of silence.
    And then everything changed.
We were students at an international school in a middle eastern country. From then on we kept hearing stories about foreigners being targeted, about car bombs and both our teachers and parents drilling it into us not to touch anything that was left lying on or near a car (even a juicebox). International schools stripped the school names off of their buses and vans and tinted the windows. We had regular evacuation drills and showed up to school one morning to find soldiers and a tank by the school entrance and the school grounds.
Our English teacher asked us if having soldiers and a tank on school grounds made us feel safe. It didn't. And little by little the student body started to shrink as more families decided to transfer or seek a job that would take them back to Europe.
By 2004 my parents had had enough and did the same and moved us halfway around the world.

When the staff at my elementary school heard the news of what was going on, they brought the TVs into the classrooms, and we all watched the live coverage. I was too young to fully grasp what was going on, but I knew that everyone was scared by what was happening. I don't remember much of the actual coverage, but it was certainly a traumatizing event for people all across the United States and much of the world. My childhood was certainly shaped in part by that event, and I was awakened at a young age to the evil that exists in the world.

I was in seventh grade on the other side of the country. I remember getting to school and seeing a crowd of people in the library watching the tv. I remember seeing the second plane hit and the really tense atmosphere. I didnt realize how much this event would change our country for the worse on account of me being in seventh grade....

I was in the Midwest, and knew no one that was a casualty. It still took years to see a plane on a clear day, and not react. I remember the live video, seeing people jumping/plummeting from the buildings. I remember the sadness, the pain, and the uncertainty of what was to come, as I went into work that day. And how quiet it was there. I was in a college class, and someone came in after a break, saying a plane accidentally crashed into the first tower. I remember knowing that it was no accident.
The media was right when they said it was our generation’s Pearl Harbor. A single event that affected all of us.

I know what you mean. I live in the Chicago suburbs, and didn't know anyone who was a victim. But I still look up whenever I hear a plane overhead. ...And I live pretty close to O'Hare Airport, so I see them pretty frequently. I no longer look up out of anxiety, more out of habit. But I know when the habit started.

FYI- the debris was sifted for human remains. It was rare if even a piece of bone was found to identify. These tall buildings were a favorite tourist spot because of their height. Besides offices, there were many different facilities with workers of every kind. Those above the crash had no way to get to the stairways to go down. These planes were full of fuel that ignited and burned so hot as to melt the steel beams holding the floors and walls ...it also flowed down the elevator shafts. Those that jumped were a 1,000 feet above the ground.
Did the ash cause illnesses...yes. Those rescuers suffered the most health problems, those that were not killed in the collapse. There were several levels that were underground that housed the main transit system from Long Island, many shops, and parking for vehicles. There were other buildings nearby that were also damaged. All was compacted into the lower levels.
The third plane was driven into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and killed workers at their desks there. The fourth plane was about to turn to go back to crash the White House in D.C. when the passengers drove the plane into the ground in Pennsylvania trying to retake the control. The lady speaking lost her husband. Many people in the buildings called to say goodbye to family, as did those in the planes.
These victims were from every nation, faith and walk of life...and, yes, there were children. Not only killed directly but so many that would grow up without a parent(s). All those killed have a memorial on those sites...we still read their names...they are still missed.

I cried for three days for all of those people. It was heart stopping to see them jump out the windows. I also thought of all of the cats and dogs who's owners never came home that night.

Not a single American who was alive on that tragic day, will ever forget. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when news of the first tower hit came out. And during every spare moment I had, I was glued to the TV, both night and day for at least the first few weeks. It was the most lethal attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941. In the attack on Pearl Harbor, 2,403 people lost their lives and in the attack on The World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, 2,977 perished. May they all rest in peace.

I remember what day of the week it was, even, because of the order of my classes that day. I will never forget that day, even if I can't remember all of it. I remember waking up to my mom telling me what happened and thinking it was a small plane where the pilot somehow lost control (before the second plane hit). I remember being in a daze going to school that day. I remember my English teacher putting on the radio and having us just quietly journal. I remember one teacher tried to declare that we were there to learn and we wouldn't be focusing on the news (it didn't go well). I remember frantically trying to get in touch with my boyfriend who lived not far from the Pennsylvania site. It was a Tuesday, and the world has never been the same since.

I was 7 years old when this happened and I will never forget it. I was in school watching the weather forecast with my class to see if we could have recess that day, when it suddenly was interrupted to show live footage of the towers and of people jumping or falling out of the towers. The door was open to the classroom and I could hear many other teachers gasping and crying, phones going off, people in a general panic, and even some kids recognizing the twin towers because their parents or family members worked there and going hysterical.. Hearing their wails will stick with me forever. Everyone was sent home because they thought it was a mass attack on america and they didn't know what was going to be targeted next. I'm 30 now and still vividly see it.

I remember exactly what I was doing and where I was and the time. I hurts so bad to watch these videos. The memories of that day shakes me to my core. Knowing what I know now, and remembering the unity America had after that day, the love we felt for one another. Racism died that day. There was no room for that ignorance at this time in American history. We ALL becal one as Americans. The losses everyone felt. We helped each other more than ever before. America came together. That is what I remember. We need that love and together ess now. The division is killing America and our way of life. America has become hostile, and full of racism and hate.

I'm from Queens and I was in 10th grade and had just moved to Florida that Summer. I remember when they came into our health class and told the teacher to turn on the TV... then after we watched the second tower fall on TV our school lost power, we were so scared, we thought we were getting attacked too, but it was just a horrible coincidence. My older sister was still in NYC and so was a lot of my extended family so I was freaking out. I remember they let anyone that could get picked up, or anyone with a car go home.

Such a horrible day. We all felt a combination of anger, sadness, confusion and fear. And the desire for revenge. Others had to help the survivors and the families, of both the living and the dead, before that rage really set in. We've been lucky since that day, but we have to remain vigilant.

One of the hardest parts to watch because I live in New York where is not only the people running past my building and me seeing the towers fall but seeing the people jumping off the building also and I think it was 160 people that jumped because it was a choice of burning alive or a quick painless death n just go out with a bang.
