Their reaction to the bomb in Japan brought tears to my eyes. As an older person I've seen those images many times and, while mindful of the effects of those events, I'm slightly desensitized to them. I'd forgotten that their reaction is the only proper way to react. Realising that was humbling.
Was better to drop the nuclear bombs and Japan to surrender than for the war to drag on and many tens of millions more die with Japan still ultimately losing.
The nuclear bomb , invented by Britain . Plans exchanged with America from the British to build the bomb , for help in aid and loan of billions of dollars to save the country top secret deal at that time . Fact .
My dad's uncle Bernard was on the last flight carrier from the USA that was bombed by the Japanese in world war 2. The carrier was called the USS Bismark Sea. A lot of his friends died that day. He survived by a miracle after floating on the ocean surrounded by fire and covered in oil for 10-12 hours. There is a picture you can find that was actually taken the moment the Bismark Sea was bombed and we have a picture of the moment uncle Bernard was pulled out of the ocean, covered in oil. He lived until 1996, he was a great man...who had amazing oranges :)

@@AbhishekNair2k It's the same thing it's the abuse of power just like Germany. The only difference now is that America has such a big influence that it has the whole west under control so if a war breaks out its like shooting yourselve in the food. Not to mention the gulf War, are a clear example of why we easely can compare these powers.
I would agree, but they need to be provided enough context. Context is often missing from these videos. For example, in the video they watched, it was not always clear who was on the Axis side and who was part of the Allies. As a Canadian I had History courses that covered our role in the 2 great wars, but I'm not sure a villager in India had the opportunity to learn the roles his country played in modern history.
I agree that they should be made aware of it, but I don't think that it is fitting in the context of ww2, as it didn't play a major role in it. I think a documentary/ information about the third Reich would be the more fitting context to inform them about the Holocaust, so that they can follow the development, circumstances and environment that made this horrific crime possible and turned people that were by all accords regarded as rather ordinary or even friendly capable of becoming monsters. There is nothing scarier than a "good" person convinced that they are doing a just deed. When looking at the holocaust it is at least in my opinion one of the most important lessons to be learned about how easily ordinary people can be corrupted into doing the most heindous crimes and therefore how aware and questioning we all should be to prohibit anything like this from ever occurring again.
My father in law was in the second invasion in Normandy...he would not talk about it except to say he lost alot of friends that day....thank you gentlemen for having such big hearts.....

Would love to see a video of them reacting more in depth to what the war was over. I know it's been a month since this upload but I would really love to see them gain the full context and their perspective.
Only trouble is the size of the subject. How do you tell them about all the politics leading up to World War 2. even if you use "World War 2 Oversimplified, [a pair of UA-cam videos], it is lengthy, and to someone unfamiliar with Europe, difficult to digest.
I think the full context is beyond them. The problem with these types of videos is they react instantly to whatever they see, jump to not-inaccurate but sheltered conclusions, and make a comment on it. Watch first, comment after. There is very little actual education and reasoning going on. It isn't that these men are not capable of learning all the facts, the videos they watch are just too short and over their heads. You cannot go from knowing virtually nothing about something like World War 2 to appreciating the amazing and blessëd victory the Allies won in 15 minutes.
They are learning at their own pace. They learnt essentially in a lot of detail in 1st video lots of people died. 2nd video this one. They learn died because Germany started a war of land sea and sky. They do no know they took all these people to camps and gas chambers or why. I agree that part went over their heads in the 1st video. The real atrocity I find is not only the high number of senseless deaths, but the cruelty inflicted and the brain washing. The cruelty and the psychology behind soldiers blindly following ... these are the whys we all have asked upon learning the facts why didnt they stop it why would they do something so cruel etc.. Psychology prisoner & guard study I believe it was explains this blind following. This is the school education we learn in uk. So would be good for them to learn this (Annoys me not taught about Indian or african soldiers who joined the fight but doesnt suprise me Britain washes out a lot from history books. Nothing in schools taught about bad stuff we did to others really. Be good if they could teach us all that extra too. I believe we should learn good and bad to not repeat mistakes of our history) Lastly the most up to date evidence on ww2 released 2018-present is: 1. the newly released Vatican files showing how they lied to other countries telling them they didnt know when asked to confirm if the atrocities/ gas camps etc were true to which they had letters confirming they were true, as well as going to great lengths to get nzi officials out of Germany to safe locations to south America. This new Pope thankfully has released this evidence when all others refused. The church ask its followers to apologise for their sins, so they must also apologise for their sins. They must not be hypocrites. Bad move all who covered it up until now. Good move for the Pope 😊 🎉 2. Hitler did not commit suicide in that bunker, his bones have a red clay on them not found anywhere in the country he is buried, but is found in south america, so he has definitely been buried and dug up from 2 diff countries, and recently declassified fbi files /gov files across the world shows international gov were hunting down escaped nzis and were starting to qu if Hitler really died in the bunker. They were restarting efforts, had funding and built camps in south America, had access to heavy water. (Hunting Hitler drags this out for drama but does explain gov documents well visit locations talk to living witnesses etc). The spies and govs hunting them down knew war criminals escaped and where to but not always able to capture, but this is not mentioned in history books or demand those countries to release them ? Only few captured in old age? They got to live out life after killing many in safe havens in south America with new identities, and carrying on torture in some dark places they set up. This should also be taught in history books that we caught some but some got safe havens protected by the gov of the country/church. Because of this delay of international govs to release their intelligence files or the vatican files our history books are incomplete and out of date. Lessons learnt from history therefore are incomplete..
My father wanted to fight the nazis and fascism by joining the International Brigades fighting for the Spanish Republic, in 1936, when he was only 15. @@twatinahatsmith7428 you can't judge history by a madmans book. Remember he also wrote this as propaganda. Yes Versailles was an injustice but so was ww1 atrocities commited. @@Mairi.2 indeed you are right. This men believe that the majority of the casualties of war were those that were at the front fields. Like you said, it is sacrilegious to not include those victims.
They did show them the video about the fallen of ww2 which had a special segment about the civilian casualties as well as a special part about the holocaust, while it of course didn't show the atrocity of it in pictures they were at least made aware of it and the pure scale of the mass murder that happened in it
Why a lighter version? That is both disrespectful and dishonest to the victims, either show it to them in its full brutality or not at all, but sugar-coating it is, at least in my opinion, a disservice to both the victims and the people learning about it as well as somewhat insulting to the victims by shying away and once again hiding the pain and suffering they had to endure.

To answer Babu's question near the end, Hitler started the war because he was angry about the Paris Accords, which was the treaty that ended WWI. Germany had to officially take responsibility for starting THAT war too, and they were under heavy restrictions imposed by the other nations. He also hated the current government for accepting it and living by it (the Accords). He attempted to overthrow the government by force in the early 30s, and spent a while in jail, where he wrote his infamous book "Mein Kampf" (My Struggle). It also gained popularity and helped him win a legitimate election when he was free from prison. Hitler built a large part of his military in secret, and when discovered, he basically said "Too bad, I'm doing it anyway." Then he invaded Poland, and the world STILL did nothing. I think he conquered at least 2 more countries before anyone tried to stop him, but it was too late by then and his people not only supported him, but his military gained huge confidence, so the allies started on the back foot so to speak.

Raeen mentions 4-5 countries were involved. They need to be informed that there were 6 Axis Powers & 17 Allied Powers in WWII. Also ground level footage of the Blitz, Concentration camps, Holocaust, the Atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima & Nagasaki & the D-Day landings at Normandy are needed to be seen to give the right impact of Human suffering & toll in WWII.
And the bombed city's like Wielùn, London, Coventry, Birmingham, Rotterdam, Dresden, Hamburg etc.
That's too traumatic to impose on people without their consent. Don't just ask for things because it's content. They can be informed about all the horrific things that happened in World War 2 and under Nazi Germany without showing them ground level footage of Concentration Camps.
@@AbhishekNair2k why? that's what happened. some things need to be seen so other things could have value and context
I think atrocities of WW2 should be in a separate video. It's a huge volume of tough emotional content to research, and UA-cam can demonetize it.
They should really see that Band of Brothers episode "Why We Fight" to see the camp scenes.
My father fought in World War 2. He, along with the forces of India, held back Japanese forces, that were trying to invade India via Burma. This part of the war doesn't get talked about as much as the rest of it.
Most parts of the war don't get talked about enough, here in europe we never hear about Japan's invasion of china for example and almost every movie is about the western front when the Eastern front was actually much bigger, deadlier and more destructive
People tend to neglect Japanese involvement in the war, even though in many ways they did far more and far worse than the Germans.
The Japanese got away with so much of their atrocities. It's sickening
Atleast the indians managed to hold the japanese off in the rainforests and they also helped at a lot of battles on the western front (I think)
We are thankful to your father. If he is still around then please say that we are grateful for his help and all those soldiers who fought for us. :)

Not your fault bro it's the elite people in power that are to blame. Now America is the old Germany started allot of modern wars.
@@donsq4306 Comparing America with Germany is horrifying. Most American wars pre 1990s are a consequence of the Cold War and post 2000s has largely been interventionism. Not to mention the gulf War, are a clear example of why we easely can compare these powers.
Perhaps explain the extermination camps and the holocaust..it would put some things in perspective with regard to Hitler and Co..
I agree with you. Although this matter is extremely depressing and horrifying, it's certainly important information.
Perfect idea
I would agree, but they need to be provided enough context. Context is often missing from these videos. For example, in the video they watched, it was not always clear who was on the Axis side and who was part of the Allies. As a Canadian I had History courses that covered our role in the 2 great wars, but I'm not sure a villager in India had the opportunity to learn the roles his country played in modern history.
Maybe a few tasting videos first.

I believe we should learn good and bad to not repeat mistakes of our history)
Lastly the most up to date evidence on ww2 released 2018-present is: 1. the newly released Vatican files showing how they lied to other countries telling them they didnt know when asked to confirm if the atrocities/ gas camps etc were true to which they had letters confirming they were true, as well as going to great lengths to get nzi officials out of Germany to safe locations to south America. This new Pope thankfully has released this evidence when all others refused. The church ask its followers to apologise for their sins, so they must also apologise for their sins. They must not be hypocrites. Bad move all who covered it up until now. Good move for the Pope 😊 🎉
Idk why but every time I watch videos about both world wars, I just tear up while thinking of all the lives that were lost.
My father wanted to fight the nazis and fascism by joining the International Brigades fighting for the Spanish Republic, in 1936, when he was only 15. Treaty of Versailles was the root to most of the war
@@twatinahatsmith7428 you can't judge history by a madmans book. Remember he also wrote this as propaganda. Yes Versailles was an injustice but so was ww1 atrocities commited. The reason for ww2 was a financial collapse that was partly caused by reparations but most of all it was colonial thinking and racism. He believed like many at the time that there are races and only the fittest and most aggressive would prevail and that other races were inferiour and there to serve the master race aka blue eyed blond haired Arians.

Hitler built a large part of his military in secret, and when discovered, he basically said "Too bad, I'm doing it anyway."
Then he invaded Poland, and the world STILL did nothing. I think he conquered at least 2 more countries before anyone tried to stop him, but it was too late by then and his people not only supported him, but his military gained huge confidence, so the allies started on the back foot so to speak.

My Dad fought the Russians in Finland. The Finns starved them out, the Russians turned back.
You should have agreed to the land trade . It was benefiting both of Finland and USSR
@@andreyilkevich Hey, give over Long Island to Sweden, you can have Gotland in return. This benefits both.
Any problem?
@@andreyilkevich The Russians got starved out and turned back, not the Fightin' Finns.
@@andreyilkevich Bruh, this is exactly why people should speak nothing of politics when they’re ignorant of the subject.
@@emichels actually, the Finn's made it extremely difficult for the Soviets. The deadliest sniper of the war was a Finn. Simo Hayha was named "The White Death" by the Red Army, and had over 500 confirmed kills.
May I suggest showing them the Eurovision song contest? It's a European song competition that started in 1956 and is still going
Americans need to see this video, many of them have no idea.
Absolutely
they seem to learn about jews in ww2 and not much else
@@cooldude4643 Americans are consumers. There are numbers in data bases with no self consciousness. Like a motor needs oil, American needs fat food and entertainment to function properly.
Watching something like this is humbling, since I have learned about these atrocities since childhood. We become desensitized to them and forget how shocking and horrific it really was. We forget that numbers are people
maybe next you should show them stuff about the holocaust
really wasnt expecting that abyss watchers theme to come on, lmaoo!

Thats everyone's reaction about the twist when the protagonist found out he was the antognist all along, then commit suicide.
The manga did it better.
This is why it's so important for us to love and respect each other for who we are. No matter the differences in race and culture. We need to respect each other as human beings, otherwise we're just going to end up repeating this foolish war.
I assume they have no idea of the Holocaust?
Beat me to it.
I don’t want any of them to feel horror or sadness, but if you are going to teach them about World War 2, you need to teach them about the Holocaust.
@@rebeccabauer792 it would be such a shock. It still shocks me to this day.
The shock I felt when first shown gave me nightmares and that was 40 odd years ago.
Introduction to this part of WW11 needs to be thought out and given context to them.. imho
They watched "The Fallen of WWII" last month, which included the toll from The Holocaust. But they likely don't know of it aside from that brief mention.
I assume you have no idea of the Indonesian massacre ? and the Congolese massacre ? and the Afghans massacre ?
You should tell them more about USA :)
3 million Indonesian people that were slaughtered like pigs in 1965 by para military fascists groupes funded by the CIA ?
1.5 to 13 million Congolese that were slaughtered and tortured (kids hands cut etc ..) by belgium until 1950 ?
All these happened after the Holocaust.
Want more ? Maybe you could teach them what USA did in Afghanistan and Irak ? How much civilians they killed etc ... (million death in Afghanistan).
Yes, would be a great idea.
*Me hearing the bell at **7:24*
That sounded like the Abyss Watchers theme, but there's no way, I just misheard.
*5 seconds later*
...damn I've played a lot of Dark Souls
Next video : Stereotypical music around the world
The video I remember seeing was weird. It used political songs for some countries and folk for others. No idea why they make it political.
Welcome to the new guy! Glad to have you aboard brother
maybe you can show some footage of conentration camps or of survivors telling there stories maybe will help them understand what the war was about
Allied countries knew about the atrocities visited upon “ others”. They knew and turned their back.
@@Caperhere I wouldn’t exactly call invading Germany turning their back lol.
@@Caperhere you mean the same Allied nations who literally liberated the people from the concentration camps? 🤔😏
I love these guys. Bless them.
When the war came to the USSR, my grandfather volunteered for the Red Army. He was the driver of the car that drove the anti-aircraft gun. The car was American delivered on Lend-Lease, my grandfather went with it through the whole war. He got used to it very much and therefore hoped to buy it out, but they said to hand it over, ostensibly to return the United States, but in fact they were sent under pressure, because the US equipment was better than ours and the authorities did not like it. When grandfather returned home to the village he cried. My grandfather and I often played cards and chess, walked, I helped him in the garden. Recently we wanted to come from the city to the village where he lived, but we could not, that summer he died, I am insanely sorry that I could not communicate with him. he was a kind and cheerful person
Babu is awsome love these guys
You should let them react to the holocaust.. it's the big absent in this video.. btw as they said, they have no clue about Hitler's reasons for committing suicide or starting the war, they need some context, hope you told them after the video
Nonono please spare sarru and babu this tragedy
It will be shocking and interesting but they do not deserve to be mortified like that
You have to talk about it. They are grown men they can handle it.
@@schonkigplavuis8850 it's something everybody should see to avoid it again in the future.. we learned it in elementary school, they're adult, I think they can handle it
They shouldn't, period.
My grandfather fought in ww1 and ww2 he took part in the battle of casserine pass and Sicily Rome and the battle of the bulge
