Aoling Festival is the most important festivals of the Konyak tribe of Nagaland. It is celebrated every year between April 1 to 6 in Mon district of Nagaland and is vibrant and a exuberant display of the culture and traditional rituals of the Konyak Nagas.

Aoling Festival
This festival marks the beginning of of new year and the start of the sowing season. Several rituals take place and sacrifices of cattle are made to appease the supreme power. Family, friends and neighbors are invited over to lavish feasts. The Konyaks dress up in their traditional gorgeous attires. It is a grand affair altogether.
We celebrated the Aoling Festival with the Konyaks at Sheanghah Chingnyu village and Longwa. This video is our experience of the Aoling Festival celebrated at Sheanghah Chingyu village, which is one of the largest villages in the Mon district.
There are a lot of programmes on the main day of Aoling Festival. folk songs and traditional dances form a part of the roster. The Konyak men also perform the war dance where they act out how they used to go for headhunting. There are other competetions taking place as well.
