I have both the Game Master and Player Companion. Now for the latter, I love it! BUT! An improvement could be more than one transparent dry/wet eraser sheet on the one side. I recommend have the current transparent wet/dry eraser cover sheet as it is but also 2-4 extra transparent pages on top of it, so we dont have to switch out the needed character sheet pages. Like having the main inner transparent page " pocket " with stats, have a second insert transparent pocket sheet for character backstory info, loot, extra info etc and a third tranparent pocket sheet for spellcaster related character sheet. Example is the D&D official character sheet pack. The stylised dragon with red detail, you know.
I'm coming late to the party, but on my side, as a player, I prefered to go to the Dice Box from Dragon Shield. As you perfectly mentioned in your video, I am typically in the case where we play on a basic "small/medium" dining table. So not much space here, and we play with paper character sheet (no tablet). Consequently, the dice box seems like a perfect solution, as it still allows to bing like a note book + pen + miniature (if need be) + dices, without taking too much space on the table at all :)
You've convinced me to get the Game Master's Companion Box. Though personally, I still prefer my Official DnD Screens. Still, It's always nice to mix it up anyway :D
Isnt it possible to double down on having the dnd screen in front of the gm screen? The dnd screen is a bit lower in height so you would have ton of information there and your notes etc on the dm screen just behind it
Very informative video, these look like really great tools! When you fold the players companion in half, how comfortable would it be to use the side with the protective sleeve instead of the dice tray?
I haven't been able to game in person for 3 years due to travel, Covid, and kids going off to college. :( However, I'd probably use that DM shield. It's the kind of tool I could get a lot of use out of.
It's real good! I'm about to sell a bunch of stuff to clear my office space a bit, and even though the GM Companion is the biggest thing on my shelves, I reckon it'll get to stay
Do you have any recommendations for inserts? I’ve got the rules pretty nailed down but I’d like a good either printable or dry-erase insert I can put party info on.
@@captnjoe I just got the player companion and I am rocking 4 sets of dice in it now and like 6 pencils and a miniature. Still a bit more space for dice and overall I think it’s great! Remember that the flap that closes the lid is able to turn ”inside” to hold extra pages in place on top of your protective page as well 👍
This is a really nice DM screen 🤔🤔 since I barely use the Infos the Dnd screens give me I might think about it 😏 also it is usable for every other pen and paper aswell... 😏

r75$ for the players and 110$ fi the gm's its an empty box with some foam incerts not worth it IMHO on amazon you can find a 4 pack of the magnetic boxes for 40-50$ and the foam is super cheep. Awsome idea piss poor excution. and not to mention price gouging is some shady ways to start a busness
Hey fair enough! They're vanity items for sure, a D my opinion doesn't take price into account. I'm not sure that's what price gouging means though. I think price gouging would be if there were some kind of bizarre shortage of GM supplies, so their response would be to hike the price.
@@MultiMack82 Yeah, I couldn't imagine spending this kind of money for this. I could get a nice bag and a nice quality dm screen for the same price. I would have to see the product in person but as someone who has seen or used a handful of different wargaming cases the foam looks really cheap and bad for keeping your minis safe. I would personally still stick to the good old storage box and magnet solution. It's a shame dragonshield is normally pretty good on price and top quality product but then again this is DnD and people have shown they are willing to spend stupid amount of money and subpar product if it's slapped with DnD compatible on the title.

Awesome review I actually use the GM companion (it was a gift) to carry my warlock tiles in...it works quite well.
I had to look up what Warlock Tiles are - the look great!
I bought both of these at gencon I love these the Dm cards that can go in the top are amazing!!
I know, right! I'm having a lot of fun with it

Where is this cat at though?? Dope video! Keep it up Matt!
Haha! It's my friend's cat :) His name is Piero and he jumped up on my shoulders halfway through last week's session

I think it works best if it opens horizontally.
These look so nifty! And it’s true, no one knows how magnets work
we tried to rationalized it, but still a mystery.

If you print a players character picture on at the exact size of the dry erase cards, and you plastify it, could you use that too in the DM screen?
I think so! The whole thing is pretty sturdy
Thanks Matty P, you're lookin' good too!
Cheers Nick!
I caught the subtle brag, you still got that '95 PHB. and the 1sted Warhammer
I stole the WH 1st edition from my brother when I was a little kid! I took it EVERYWHERE, rereading it, trying to understand the rules haha

Hmmm... For one, maybe a marching order of the party? But for the rest, just words of affirmation for yourself.
The DM box has potential, but for the player box: do you actually know a player who uses only one set of dice?
You can fit a few sets of dice in there
honestly I'm minimalistic and I use only 1 set of dice as a dm and as a player and that was never not enough

Yep! I reckon the main function of DM screen is to be a showpiece, and this screen totally accomplishes that goal
@@heyitsMattyP I like fake rolls xD
Magnets? what a concept
The boxes look so cool, darn shame all my games are online
Magnets or witchcraft, the jury is still deciding
is there any word on how long they expect it to be backordered?
I will ping my contact at Dragon Shield and get them to respond to you :)
@@heyitsMattyP turns out, they don't even ship to the united states :( so it won't be for me anyway. Sad, because that GM companion looks...amazing.

my local game shop in US is further back ordered, so we are uncertain when they will get in.
Great video
Thank you!
Yeah, that's right ... how DO magnets work?!?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How many sets of dice can you get in the players companion?
I reckon you could fit two sets of dice in the designated section, but more if you wanted to spill into one of the iPad section
I’ve got 4 in mine now by borrowing space from the iPad section, just take them out and place them on the dice rolling section whenever you need to 👍

The player companion could use 2-4 more pages of transparent dry/ wet erase insert pages though. Kinda akin to the Folio class thingies from WotC.
oh well, some people just don't like to use the potential at their fingertips, empty screens is all we need to make the greatest helpers ever
