Fr girl, I am just a casual listener, and Jeongyeon always caught my attention. I think their production team loves to make the songs unnecessarily high. And it makes members sound nasally, but with Jeongyeon, even when the parts are of high range, her vocal tone remains powerful, and it adds depth to the overall quality of the song.
Like Jeongyeon is the third best vocalist after Nayeon and Jihyo. The difference between Nayeon and Jeongyeon is not even that much. Jeongyeon deserves way more line the she gets. Like Mina and Sana are treated more like lead vocalists then Jeongyeon is.
With Jisoo I've always had the impression that most of the lines she gets were written with Rosé in mind and therefore don't really match her vouce well.
and it's true sadly, bcs she always sings the prechorus With Rosé,and then for the 2nd they switch parts. In Dkwtd producers tried something different and it worked(one of their most loved bside) bcs it sounded harmonious
what confuses me is that when TWICE covers a song, Jeongyeon always get many lines, but when it comes to their own songs even sub vocalists that are objectively one of the least skilled(vocally) get more than her most of the time
Its definitely because they want those covers to work well, and Jeongyeon can do that. But with twices own songs, they can make it work for whoever they want to sing it. Twice songs aim more at being sparkly and bring in attention with more popular members. Where as with covers, its more of a skill showcase which is why Jeongyeon gets brought in for those.
@@awayowayo i feel so sad it is always jeongyeon at the short end of the stick. I feel sad anout a lot of things when it comes to jeongyeon but i just hope we get her solo that’s all im asking
I feel so bad for Gaeul because they make it seem like she is completely unnecesary in the group. In HEYA and Accendio they gave rap partes to Leesseo instead of her but then in other songs they gave her lines that are obviously challenging for her, still she manages to performance it well, but why would they do that? Her situation just get worse every comeback.
Fr no hate to leeseo (i love her) but they should stop giving her rap parts. She already shines with her vocals and her beautiful voice (i love her voice) so why do they give her rap parts ? It’s not like she exchanged her position with gaeul so gaeul gets more vocal lines and leeseo more rap parts. NO ! Gaeul stills have nothing ( it got worse like you said) and leeseo got more while she was doing good with her vocals parts (for example in i am) and gaeul was doing good with her rap parts (for example in kitsch and i am). So why ?
Because Don't you see how those Raps looks like K-Pop rap more than rap like Gaeul usually done and also no shade to Leeseo but the rap fits her better and also Rei and Leeseo have similar voice
Ngl all twice's members are misused to some degree but Jeongyeon deserves so much better. While the other members sometimes seem to struggle with the lines that they get, she always delivers good and pleasant vocals no matter what. You can tell that she loves her craft, she is truly a singer!
@@vixxexo6855the general consensus that Momo dosent use her real voice is so wrong, she just struggles to sing her parts well so she goes nasal since Twice’s songs are super high pitched and Momo has a decent falsetto and very high pitched voice, which result in what people call her “fake voice” because she has no knowledge on how to use her voice so she works against it instead of with it, hence why she seems uncomfortable when hearing her voice during the encores. However I think nowadays Twice are starting to provide some decent live vocals which I’m happy about because they’re my ults moreover I used to LOVE their old performances in Sixteen and during their early days as Twice vocally speaking, it’s sad that JYP wasted the talent over the years because they have really unique and distinct vocal color
As soon as you mentioned Seulgi getting lines that suited her rather than expecting her to always match Wendy, my mind went straight to Jisoo. Poor girl gets stuck with some very uncomfortable parts. I also can't help thinking of the Woozi/Wonwoo part sharing in Home-same lines, same notes, just shifted down for Wonwoo to suit his range. Something similar with Jisoo would add more color to the songs and allow her to shine, instead of making her look incompetent with lines that aren't really in her range.
Jisoo gets forced to sing Rosé's lines and it's much more difficult for her as an Alto. Her lower range is too beautiful to not highlight and YG hasn't allowed her to sing those low notes too much.
It KILLS me as a Jeongyeon stan to know that the way that Jeongyeon is treated as a vocalist is how she currently wants it. She doesn't want a solo, hasn't even done a melody project because she puts the other members first (iirc many many years ago she considered a melody project but put it in the backburner bc another member had one lined up), only gets more lines when the other members advocate for her. The fact that Jeongyeon said she's never going solo even forced me to distance myself from her and the group for a while, I was just THAT disappointed. She did say afterwards that she MIGHT go solo at a later date, but she did also say she'd do a melody project somewhere around 2021-22 and where's that... Oh well.
@@elina3016 same here but what can we say its the brands choice . I only wish and hope she do a solo that’s my ultimate wish I don’t expect her to get more lines in twice songs anymore or her to have melody project, just Jeongyeon solo is all i ask for
I remember awhile back I was watching a compilation of either fan meet moments or their Twice variety show. Anyway, Jeongyeon was asked something about how her fans would feel if she did something (I don’t remember what it was) & she responded, “What fans? I don’t have any fans.” (If I can find the video title I’ll be sure to come back & edit this comment with the name, but this is me recounting from memory.) Everyone kind of laughed it off but that moment stuck with me. Who knows, she could have just been joking but I really hope that isn’t how she truly feels. I would hope she knows that she does have fans & we’re rooting for her & we love her voice & think she’s amazing. We would LOVE to see her solo because she has a gorgeous voice. I hope she sees how wonderful she is, because we sure do.
@naeshelle God I really hope that's just a joke because if she genuinely believes that it would be heartbreaking. There aren't as many of her fans as there are for some of the more popular members, but Jeongyeon fans are loyal!
Jeongyeon has my favorite voice in TWICE. From my understanding, she’s not too interested in going solo. If that’s the case, I hope she does get more room to shine because she deserves it!
@@LizzyLoves91 years of undermining did that to her . I wonder how she is feeling nowadays her mental state… with all negativity around her weight and also petty but all other have one brand deal but her….
This really shows it’s about the company, not the idol. Every idol has strengths that can be grown and utilized, but the companies focus again and again on the most popular members
I mean despite the group being mistreated by SM, the members remain very well utilize and each get a chance to shine (most of the time). I think it would to easy though to compare anyone to the other 3 members as wendy obviously is the main vocal without doubt, Irene get decent singing time and she obviously is well utilized as a center and Joy is treated as a lead vocalist instead of sub vocalist (while still getting some small rap part)
The whole group is crafted beautifully if you look at it.. natty's dancing ability, belle's vocals (bro's the next ariana ngl), julie's rap and haneul's aura charm and vocals.. companies should learn from their line up how to create a grp. like if you're just gonna put together ppl who don't match each other's vibe it's gonna end up like gaeul's or yunah's case. all the members of kiof somehow stand out on their own at the same time complement and balance each other out in the group idk if i make sense.. but that's the best i can put into words.. i really hope some companies (i'm looking at you hybe) do their group members justice.
I'm seriously impressed by how YG was able to hide Lisa's weakness in vocal ability for this long. I had no idea she had this many issues with performing live. I was convinced she was carrying Blackpink on her back during the tour. And dance wise, she probably was. But I never realized that the other girls were hardcore carrying Lisa when it comes to vocals. I guess because issues with dancing are immediately obvious, but poor vocals can be hidden behind lip-sync, auto-tune and loud backtrack. Good job YG 🤷♀
Lisa's vocal problems are undeniable, but that was improving over time due to the training when she was a trainee. However, it seems that no one advises her that she needs to go to singing classes, probably if she had continued with proper vocal training those weaknesses would not be obvious and her live voice would not be as bad as it is today.
i been saying this since forever during born pink tour but her fans and antis liked to think lisa was carrying blackpink when in reality it was rose tbh
What do you mean you had no idea about her weaknesses ??? She literally skips every vocally demanding line of her songs and screams some words here and there and in as if it's your last post chorus they literally chipmunked her voice to death, come on now wth
Justice for Jeongyeon, poor girl. I hope she can showcase her talent in her solo project if JYPE ever gives her one 🙃. Good video, waiting for a third one.
Yes ive doesn’t use gaeul as the main dancer even if she is! But ive usually does not have dance breaks and the choreos are usually light! But gaeul deserves better
I mean, they do have dance breaks for songs like Love Dive (the kind of choreo I see people want back for them) but those usually center around Yujin, which is of course not her fault. Makes me wonder where Gaeul is popularity-wise in the group, that could be the reason sadly.
Jeongyeon is the lead vocalist but gets treated like a sub vocalist Gaeul used to get less but ever since Kitsch/I AM she does get treated fairly like her lines are fine in the recent album like IVE SWITCH where she wasn't even last
Jisoo's vocal color is my favorite in Blackpink, but it's so rarely put to good use that it's almost like it doesn't exist. I REALLY hope I'll get to hear a lot more of it in the future
Well, Yunah's strengths might be in the more energetic and dark concepts, but she has spoken herself that she likes the concept, arguably most out of the members. I feel like putting Iroha instead of Yunah would've been better - as Iroha, despite her age, is a person who should be utilized for a powerful/dark concept, as you know, her dancing is incredible.
Yup she likes illit concept a lot, she enjoys singing and perfoming those songs, the thing is Yunah is very versatile thats why she can pull dark concepts and more bright like Illit. For me this just comes down to personal preference, they like yunah in the dark concept because of her visuals ig because her voice is well utilized in Illit music, you just need to watch the recording of the songs or super real illit doc. For Iroha its the same to be honest, she can pull more sharp concepts (her dance cover of siren was amazing) but she does well in Illit concept, shes well utilized at least for me, and its also the fact they think illit concept is cute, its not but what ever xd
I mean, no offence, of course she said that. She cant exactly come out and say that she hates her group's concept with the hate she already got from some people during debut days for 'not suiting the group visually' and 'being too old' and other such things. If she did, she would probably be put on hiatus or not be in the group at all anymore. So yeah, while it's of course completely possible that she does in fact like the concept and everything, we can't claim it with 100% certainty. Of course, I hope Illit's concept will grow with them, Iroha and Wonhee wont be the teens of the group forever.
@@glaciemdraconot even the other members speak about enjoying the concept as much as she does, if she was forced she would barely talk about it. even during the survival show, she talked about how she liked softer songs/concepts better.
@@strawberriesforchoerry1454 Again, survival show, imagine if she said she hated softer concepts, she wouldn't have debuted probably, same for the others. Look, you can believe what you want, but ultimately, being an idol or trainee is a public facing job, they have things they can and can't say, surely (some of which probably depend on the company too). That and I personally would like to see the concept grow with them rather than them singing songs like Magnetic at the age of 30+. And being an older 04 liner, Illit may have been Yunah's last chance to debut for all we know, groups these days especially gg tend to debut younger than her. Ultimately, it's an agree to disagree.
It personally makes me question why Hybe decided to debut a cute group when there were plenty of very talented trainees in the survival show that would've greatly suited a darker concept.
YG just really did her dirty they promoted jennie more as the visual and didn't give her proper lines to showcase her skill. Jisoo didn't need to speak english she had her members for that
@ A big reason of why she feels that way is because YG never utilized her correctly. She wasn't able to showcase her charms so she feel she is falling behind
@@sliverhalo9286What? 😂 all four members were promoted as visuals. That's why they have such brand deals. Jennie however, is more fluent and confident than Jisoo in English and she's also an IT girl. Of course she got promoted more.
Tbh I thought the same about Yunah but after watching her fancams I personally feel as though she performs the concept the best on stage especially with her subtlety but a lot of people tend to see subtle idols as only fitting dark concepts which seems to be the issue with her. She has strong looks which also may be a reason why people seem to put her in a box of dark concept but she clearly is killing it in Illit onstage presence wise.
Kpop stans just can't decide on something even if their life depended on it, 2 years ago everyone was sick of dark and girl crush concepts but now that girl groups are doing something different they want them back. Just because Yunah did well in that Bad girl, good girl stage doesn't mean she's doing bad now but that's the weird narrative they're trying to push
agreed with both you and the reply!! illits concept is so fresh and its adorable how much yunah clearly loves it! maybe i just dont get peoples attatchment to the bggg since i knew ILLIT yunah before RUN, but i think shes so entertaining to watch on stage just as much, if not more, than bggg! honestly everytime i see that fancam posted somewhere its traumatic the amount of 'illit ruined yunah' comments i see as a yunah bias T-T just wish people would put that opinion aside and watch a recent yunah fancam, im 99% sure theyd change their mind ;;
i agree with all of these except what you said about yunah. i kind of have a lot of beef with those who say she doesn’t suit illit because i think a lot of kpop fans fall victim to the idea that any female idol under 20 needs to be cutesy and any idol over 20 needs to be sexy and mature. there’s also this idea that because they have certain facial features, they should be given certain songs accordingly. we can see people say similar things about eunchae of le sserafim and while i don’t think they should have her shakin ass like in smart ☝️ there are so many people who think just because she’s young and has cutie cheeks she should be doing something cute but when you SEE eunchae in music videos and fancams for crazy, unforgiven, and impurities in particular, you can appreciate her for an artist and someone who is capable of suiting many different styles. all this to say that yunah’s presence in illit is crazy to me. her fancams are my favorite in the group and i get somewhat frustrated when people say that she should ve doing something else because are we looking at the same person? she has charisma and charm that balances illit so well- her and iroha are a strong charismatic duo with the abilities and range to be both chic and cute. i think just because yunah performs “mature” things well, that doesn’t mean her talents aren’t being utilized properly. edit: i didn’t mean for this to be so long and i’m not even trying to argue with you or anyone lmao i just want us to expand on what we think girls and women in the industry can do without limiting them to what we want or expect them to do 🙂↕️
I mean, I can understand why you'd think this is about ageism, and it's a bit of a defensive(?) topic for Illit fans because everyone who wants to bash Yunah is to say that "she's too old", whoever I disagree that is because of her age and it's just because she shines the most when she does more mature or stronger concepts. First of all, I can literally share so many other idols *who are also older than her* that I think fit cute concepts: Chuu (Loona), Winter (aespa), Eunha (Viviz/Gfriend), Yeri (Red Velvet), Yujin (Kep1er/CLC), Yena (soloist/Iz*one), Sana (Twice), Hyojung and Seunghee (Oh My Girl), Yujeong (ex Brave Girls), Sunny (SNSD), Youngji (Kara), and the list goes on, but I'll stop here. 😅 Secondly, everyone has their own tastes, so again, I understand that for you and many other fans, she might be the member who has the best fancams or stage presence in her group. But if you were to ask me, she went from being one of my standing contestants on R U Next to being the Illit member who has flown under my radar the most *I hope this can change for me as Illit release more songs in the future, even if they stick with the cute concept, especially since she was one of my favorite on the survival show*. Still, I have to point out that I don't think she looks cringy or doesn't know how to perform a cute concept, it's not that she looks out of place or uncomfortable doing it, I just feel like she shines a lot more when she does other types of concepts... And with the way she goes viral when she performs stronger concepts, I think most people think the same way 🤷♀️ PS: I also agree that Eunchae fits LSF's concept so well, and what she needs is choreography that is more appropriate for her age...
THANK YOUUU T--T people see the bggg fancam and then see that illit is girly and lose their minds, yunah was not ruined by illits concept!! (which is more then just cute!!) yunah loves her group and music, and she is amazing on stage! people take their weird opinion that she shouldve been in a girl crush group and take it as fact saying 'she stood out so much!' and wont watch an illit stage, where she still stands out in such a good way! shes my bias which would prob influence my opinion, but theres many people still saying she is wonderful for illits concept. so i truly think those who say shes not just havent given illit a chance, genuinely
@@almariaghern1876 hey! if ur trying to give yunah a chance, id recommend the bsides! yunah doesnt get a lot of lines in the title tracks! pimple, lucky girl syndrome, and midnight fiction are favs of mine! shes also illits adlib queen, she does alot of the backing vocals and harmonizing! i do think smth preventing her going viral is just she's prolly the least utilized member of the group :( shes one of the most talented vocalists in ILLIT but is blatantly ignored in favor of the other members, i wish people would take more issue with that then something that cant be changed like the girls' concept ;;
@@almariaghern1876 thought i replied but YT didnt work oops. if your interested in giving yunah a chance, shes given more opportunity to shine in the Bsides! tick tack, pimple, and lucky girl syndromes imo are her songs, shes also known as being an adlib queen with her vocals and harmonies! i genuinely think the reason she doesnt go viral as much is because not of the concept, but because shes blatantly under utilized in title tracks n such :( despite being imo one of the best vocalists in ILLIT, shes like always in the bottom 2 of line distribution its bizarre. the real issue is hybes misuse of her talent, not the old concept debate. she shines so much on stage with or without illits concept, she genuinely is so good at her job
Honestly part of me still thinks that Yeri is underutilized. She can sing "Fine" by Taeyeon incredibly well. She can hit high notes when given the chance
I honestly think Yeri is treated fairly fine. She's given a good amount of both rapping and singing lines. Considering she isn't a main in any position for the group, she gets lines that fit her abilities.
I think obviously Yeri can pull even more than she is doing in red velvet, but I stil think she is not misused. As he said in the video, she just needs a solo now. Also in Cosmic she's been getting very great lines and nice center time (and great shot in the mv)
You should hear her sing lines that are on par with Wendy and Seulgi in Wildside. She's incredible when given the chance to shine, but it's pretty clear SM wants to cruise safely with how RV does things.
5:34 she said in an interviewed she didn't want to go solo tho... because fans kept on "harassing her" with that (you know, after nayeon going solo, then jihyo, it was kind of "her turn"). it doesn't have to happen and that's okay
I think it wasn't an interview, but a message on bubble to fans who believed she was going to release a solo soon (because of something that happened during a tour stop that fans took as a hint to a solo debut). She also said she isn't planning one "now" (the now being one year ago), she didn't say she doesn't want to release a solo at all, but that she wasn't preparing anything in that particular time.
It's probably also because of the huge amounts of harassment regarding her health that makes her hesitant on going solo. She's not conventionally attractive like Tzuyu, who can get away with releasing an average solo because she'll garner attention with her looks.
it wasn’t that. she said on bubble (not an interview) in 2024 that she wasn’t interested in a solo despite fan theories, but she might be in a year or so, so its not a bad thing to have fingers crossed for this year
exo is one of the best in utilising their talent, especially over time, sehun sounds much better as a rapper now look at his verses in gravity, ohlalala, obsession, paradise and so many more and kai went from getting barely any lines to having one of the best solo discography
@jimmycroni i definitely think sehun was underutilised in the past but since maybe 2018 i think he's been able to shine more, for a large group with majority vocal heavy and demanding discography i think they've done well utilising their members
@ I would agree but EXO debuted in 2012, that’s six years before he was utilized. I’m no expert but I’ve been listening to Kpop since 2nd gen and it happens all the time. A person who gets no screen time/singing time is better utilized and gets to shine more such as Jin from BTS or Eunha from Gfriend.
@jimmycroni thats why i made a point to say now rather than during their early years and tbh i think the more sehun improved the more shine he got, unlike a lot of groups now a days who settle to be mediocre across their whole careers he put in the effort to get wat he deserved and i think its commendable
In my opinion they are still underutilized, cream soda he wasn't utilized well also in tempo or obsession, chanyeol i utilized well but not sehun or kai. Sehun was utilized well in lotto though but sm don't utilized the dynamic between the rapline like they should
there's so many idols who are very overlooked for the vocals. one of the ones i'd note is probably jeongyeon. i think she just gets straight up overlooked by the company and the gp despite her having shown some great vocals, especially live (since their last tour "RTB"). i'd say Jeongyeon is a more underrated (and underutilized) vocalist within twice. she has so much vocal potential that we don't know (maybe she either) because Twice producers don't give her proper oportunities and ways to showcase more her vocals and improve them. how can Jeongyeon improve when they give her sub vocal lines 80% of the time? but yeah Jeongyeon still manage to be prominent in lives and nail majority and the parts that are on her confort zone.
Twice gets a chance to sing different lines and talk to producers about it, Jeongyeon is a senior in the company. Maybe she just feels the most comfortable with belting, maybe performing still gets tiring for her because of anxiety disorder and back injury. Jihyo wanted her to sing First time chorus, she refused because she dislikes singing in falsetto.
@AB-yk2pq yes she went to a hiatus that affected her, but she came back and is getting better with time. i just wish to see jeongyeon with more lines using the higher register rather than just belting. just think her lines, based on what she gets in their songs, lack variety in. because i know she has the potential in that area
Sunny from snsd is similar to her but in Sunny's case it's much worse because she has to compete with 4 vocalists in her group and she was forced to sing in a cute voice rather than her natural voice which was very powerful and unique
Tbh, I think the producers consider Jeongyeon as a lead vocal (?). She mostly gets challenging parts or parts the same as Nahyo (Most evident in Between 1&2, Ready To Be, and even some title tracks) But, she still does not get the same amount.
i recently have been on a twice strategy kick, and when i heard jeongyeon's voice, i didn't even recognize it (i'm not a twice stan, just an occasional twice listener), but i heard the voice and i was like "damn! who is this member? they're so good at singing!", so i checked, and it was jeongyeon. she has such a wonderful voice and i'm so sad that it's not as utilized as nayeon or jihyo. they're also amazing vocalists, but it was very refreshing to hear jeongyeon sing something that has been handed to nayeon/jihyo in the past. (for reference, i've only listened to can't stop me, set me free, and strategy, so if there are other songs where jeongyeon is singing high notes, i haven't heard them).
I recommend HO! , like a fool , hold me tight, one in a million, up no more, stuck and queen of hearts for the b-sides Jeongyeon has highnotes /high choruses in all of them And for the title tracks one spark , knock knock and candy pop
nah cus gaeul was utilized so well during i am and wave era in the context of vocals and rap, now she’s a backup vocalist for leeseo💀 ALSO HEHEHE, the reference(comment) that i made last video is here on jeongyeon with the lack of variety of line she gets since she mainly belts, ik i was so rightttt
Maybe the songs don't fot her cause she's always the one with Wonyoung sometimes who have little to no line and Rei is sometimes forced to have her line taken from her since she's a Rapper when she can actually sing. Like Yujin is already taking her Dance Role cause she's a good dancer. Why would they hide it ? Rei is a better rapper (doesn't mean Gaeul can't rap), and all the members have similar type of voice, and Gaeul and Yujin force their voice sometimes to match the tone
Honestly Gaeul was given the iconic parts since debut, but literally nothing else. She has the catchiest parts in Eleven and Love Dive, the iconic pre-chorus in After Like, beautiful vocals in I Am, and then Starship decided to drop her out of nowhere. It's so odd.
and noticed how wave and i am she went viral both due to her Vocals and not rap, even After like her prechorus overshadowed her rap. Starship made her and leeseo switch positions during the album "SWITCH" for a reason. That whole album you could see gaeul taking on more vocal parts in Wow and reset. Leeseo also never shined as a vocalist, she never had an "iconic" part whenever shes a vocalists cause she will always be overshadowed by wonyoung liz and yujin, but when she did get a rap part in Off the record. She went viral and blew up. After "Wave" and "Off the record" fans wrre anticipating more raps from leeseo and more vocals from Gaeul, which was exactly what they did.
I really enjoy this series and completely agree with what was laid out. In fact I was surprised Jeongyeon wasn't in the first video! That said I would love to see a similar video on like Girls Generation, because many of the ladies themselves felt like they were under utilized.
Gaeul has such a strange set of circumstances. I think if Leeseo didn’t cover Rei’s lines in Kitsch when she was taking a health leave, Gaeul would probably have more rap parts in the modern Ive discography.
Agree..some agency cant take their talent. This's hard to choice. And fans to noisy. But if the producer know their limit and know how make them shine with their talent without make them like another.how good is that? it works with SME and YGE for example.
I agree with everything you said except for Yunah, she is just as vital as the other members in ILLIT. Yes, ILLIT has a cute concept but she adds important nuance to cuteness. I think people who box Yunah into a girl crush concept just because of her natural features (tall, sharp facial features etc) are very simpleminded. ILLIT have only just begun and with so many disruptions. With the MHJ situation causing them to be swarmed with hate, have brands pull out of deals with them, delaying comebacks, members getting sick from all the stress and such, we have not seen everything that was initially planned for ILLIT. And I commend these young girls for the strength to pull through as they have just had to roll with the punches and give us whatever they can in the moment. Once they get to the other side of all this mess they’ve been dragged into since debut, I think not only Yunah but all the members will finally get to fully showcase everything.
What y'all aren't getting is that Yunah LIKES the cute, dreamy concept. She even helped with Cherish (my love) m/v. But she can suit a mature, dark, girlcrush concept.
9:12 I think that despite her more sharper features and punchy voice she still fits in illits concept; I don’t think it’s fair to put her in the girl crush box just cuz of some clips. I do wish they would use her voice as a stand out rather than trying to make her voice blend in with the others. Her voice could be a powerful component that could set them apart similar to the way Felix is used in stray kids. He has a very distinct deep voice and rather than making him force a higher voice they give him the space to shine
yes!! so tired to see people reigniting this beef with yunah and illits concept, the real issue is how underutilized she is in illit! her voice and prescence is amazing in illit and i wanna hear it more T-T she deserves sm
I wish jisoos lines were made for jisoo 😭 having her as my ult and feeling rewarded hearing her at least three times in a song should not be a daily occurrence
Jeongyeon used to be a better singer than nayeon, but nayeon is given more room to sing a lot of parts exploring her voice, now making them neck and neck in terms of skills singing
the thing that makes me the most mad about jeongyeon’s treatment is when sometimes in songs with strong vocals or vocals that fit her, she gets barely any lines😭
I honestly feel bad for Gaeul 😢 like in the beginning she got almost no lines besides her Royal lines in Love Dive and After-Like, the. it changed to where she was getting plentiful lines and most finishing first a few times during I AM. i have no clue what happened in that boardroom, but now it feels she’s completely disregarded of her talents and features from Baddie till now💔 Leesoo takes her raps, Yujin takes her dance breaks and centre time in them and Wonyoung,Liz n Rei take whatever vocal parts are left I hope she gets better treatment man
I would like to point out that, when someone as VITAL as Wendy is missing on a stage, Seulgi and Joy, the Vocal Line, take most of if not all of Wendy's lines. Whereas with someone as vital as Jihyo or Nayeon, when they aren't on a stage, weaker vocalists like Sana and Mina, although vital parts of the vocal line, cover the lines when Jeongyeon is sitting right there. (No hate to either since Sana is my ult bias through and through.) The sad thing about Jeongyeon lines is that Mina gets more lines than Jeongyeon. A Sub-Vocalist getting more than a Lead Vocalist...embarrassing...
well yes and no yunah did most of the harmonies in magnetic but wonhee did most of the harmonies in cherish ( yunah also did some but wonhee did more) and also when ever they do covers that require some sort of high note wonhee is usually the one that does it but i mean they've only had one comeback so i dont think its really fair to include illit anyway
@@hamster6827 i actually agree with this!! i know kiof is 5thgen too but they got tons of comebacks already, illit literally has one LOL thats a good point lolol
Being Once since cheer up era, it's really hard to tell what's the case of Jeongyeon's mistreatment. It's like her more dark and heavy voice is a real problem for jyp and producers. I heard a long time ago that she would debut on 6mix, alongside Nayeon, Sana and Jihyo, and her position would be a rapper. It's funny because nowadays, Nayeon is a "better rapper" than her. To me, this just shows how little jype cared about her, because it isn't too hard to identify a trainee who is good vocally and one good at rapping. On sixteen, she really shined with her performances and again, I just don't understand what went wrong with her. Maybe the cute concepts twice had in the past didn't match her voice, but again, this isn't a justification at all. Because even on the bsides, she wouldn't sing that much either. I can compare her to Dahyun sometimes, because people like to judge Dahyun's voice on her raps, saying that is too soft, but just like Jeongyeon's case, it isn't her fault at all. Is not like they would fake a voice just to match the standards of what a vocalist and rapper should be like. Twice as a group were always a topic that people loved to talk about. How much Nayeon shines in every single thing, and the other girl's don't. It isn't Nayeon's fault at all, she really is a extremely talented idol, she has a star aura. But the lack of content and lines to the others makes them who they are today. I think that Jeongyeon don't wanting to go solo is purely because she doesn't feel good and confident doing it. I would love to hear an EP or a full album from her, because I bet she would come up with a more R&B or dark tracks, and this would suit her voice and talent so much... It's truly saddening to see a lead vocalist having the treatment of a sub vocal. God, sometimes even the main rapper gets more vocal lines than her. Is truly, truly sad.
Agree with all of these but Yunah. As a few other commenters stated, she does a lot of higher harmonies and I think she likes her concept! I see her fitting in more everyday.
Jeongyeon's part in One Spark knocked the wind out of me. Her parts might not always do her justice but she devours them every time. And I genuinely think Gaeul is painfully under utilised. She really has so much potential
I hope YG will give Jisoo a proper treatment for their next comeback (whenever it is). Nonetheless I'm really curious to see what will she bring to us with AMORTAGE. Hopefully this time we will see what she can do. I have my hopes high ngl
as a casual IVE listener I agree with the Gaeul situation. lately, she is only getting adlibs, and not present on MVs ( except Accendion ofc). and even on performances she has little to no center time. I think starship is pushing Yujin more as a dancer, since she is already amazing performer and has excellent stage presence, but it is creating a imbalance within the group.
It's also because Yujin is one of the "faces" of the group, along with Wonyoung. Gaeul's dance skills are undeniably good, to the point where you can tell she can easily out-dance anyone in the group every since Eleven (The only 2 people who were able to do the hip gyrations were Yujin and Gaeul). Yujin is advertised as one of the dancers of the group, so she has to get more spotlight to retain that image. As a result, Gaeul is forced to be less present.
well recently Yujin definitely edges Gaeul in terms of dance. Plus dance breaks should leave lasting impact and hard hitting elements, which both are yujin's specialty. Unless they do intricate choreos with insane detailing, gaeul would likely not get as much center dance breaks. take accendio for example, the dance break had intense beats and is a moment to create tension, and yujin definitely excels at that. But Gaeul does sometime gets those moments with her solo performance during the world tour, baddie dance break, and even solo dance breaks on award shows @@inplane9970
I was hoping you would speak about Jeongyeon since I watched the last video. Glad to see her spoken of, every twice comeback I just leave wishing I heard more from her
I was hoping you would speak about Jeongyeon since I watched the last video. Glad to see her spoken of, every twice comeback I just leave wishing I heard more from her. I’m hopeful for a solo debut from her that leans more into her talents (I’d love an alt rnb or even something darker- like I’m thinking she could handle songs like Yebba releases- something that has a lot of vocal depth)
I’d also like to see an exploration of Dahyun’s role in twice- she’s been slowly becoming more and more underutilized each comeback. Like strategy really could’ve used her “idgaf” spunk but she really only had one part? It struck me as odd
To me Jeongyeon is the best vocalist in Twice (to me) She’s the only one that doesnt have a nasally sounding voice. She rarely strains too. Im not sure if she doesnt have inspiration or sumn, but I neeeeeed her to release some music. I just think she needs a challenge😭
I think in Jisoo's case it's that they need somebody to sing the chorus lines along with Rose because we can't be having Rose singing everything and Jisoo is the most capable of doing that I think?
I think the only way for us to ever get to know Jeongyeon‘s voice really is a solo EP/album. I guess the only reason why she can still sound great and not too strained like Nayeon sometimes is because of her little amount of lines 🤣
But jeongyeon's line distribution is just not the producers' fault. Because jeongywon, herself, has said that she is not comfortable getting so many lines especially higher parts. It is of course partially due to her anxiety problems. She doesnt have enough confidence that she can really execute them. Plus, it is fair that she feels that way because she is too chesty most of the time so its kinda hard for her to sing higher parts and more lines of that.
I agree the soft concept doesn’t fit Yunah, but illit have teased a bit of a darker concept a few times now, I think Yunah is going to balance the group out well if they do attempt to horror/dark concept we see teased. I think her vocals create a nice contrast in comparison to the others who are a lot brighter and she adds some depth. I think illit have so much more to prove and I’m really looking forward to it
This, I firmly believe Illit will probably turn to a darker/horror concept at some point, Magnetic was bright and all but I feel like it had some moments where it was actually leaning towards creepy (in a horror/dark concept sense). I guess we will see once Wonhee and Iroha are adults. I can say the same about Cherish, less so their promoted b-sides.
Gaeul has many rap parts though. She rapped in Cherish, Hypnosis, After like, Kitsch, I am, Next page, Rebel Heart, Baddie, and probably another one or two that I forgot. She’s definitely underrated by Starship but please don’t say she never raps.
This just really shows how much thought was put into groups such as Kiss of life or Red Velvet to have such a well thought out line up. The members were given parts that plays to their strengths and let them shine while still being challenged to grow more. No member really felt like they weren't needed in the group or completely disregard as an artist. For other groups, well shame on the company not knowing their idol and let them struggle because you just can't do your research.
You have the fans to blame for Jongyeon's case. They keep hyping up useless members solely for the visuals which automatically means that the company will give them all the spotlight. As for Gaeul, meh, at least Yeri can sing, so yeah it's normal she'd stand out.
I remember when I first discovered TWICE I was obsessed with Jeongyeon's voice, her tone is so pleasant to hear, I love the STRATEGY chorus when she's singing it
If you do another one of these, I'd like to request Sunny from SNSD on the underutilized side. She has some very nice vocal moments (especially on head voice) and is a lead vocal, yet gets the fewest vocal moments even when it could make sense for her. Her part in the SNSD cover of beautiful restriction is stunning.
For me, Yunah does suit ILLIT’s cutesy concept well, and imo is one of the best performers in the group, but she could be SO much better in cooler, darker stuff. She’s not bad by ANY means, but she shines even more in other styles. This applies to both Minju and Iroah for me as well, they suit their concept but work better in ones like shut down or desperate. Yunah has said she likes ILLIT’s concept, so I’m happy that it’s not something she dislikes doing bc that would be MUCH worse
mann i genuinely disagree so much with this yunah argument, she loves her concept and the fact people think shes been ruined by it is heartbreaking. if they just gave her a chance, listened to her vocals and watched a stage they know how well she fits in! she stands out the most to me in my opinion, that girl was born to be on stage! i wish people would stop with this dark good cute bad arguement with yunah when she so clearly loves what she does :( to be sad over no girl crush concept, sure thats one thing, but to advocate shes bad at her current concept or doesn't belong is just flat out mean. not 'honest'
I think comparing Yeri to Gaeul is weird especially when Yeri has already decade old experience meanwhile Gaeul only now passed 3 years as an idol. When Yeri was an junior idol she got so much hate for being "useless" it took many years for her to grow to be skilled idol and finally fit in with rest of the RV. Gaeul place in IVE was never questioned and even during "After LIKE" people where obsessed with her.
The hate towards Yeri was always unwarranted. She was a great addition at day one people just wanted RV to be a 4 member group and took their anger out on Yeri.
People definitely questioned Gaeul's place in IVE, especially since she only got one-liners in Eleven. Even now they question if she can even sing, judging solely based on Starship's reluctance on giving her lines on any title tracks. Comparing to Yeri may be a stretch, but we can't deny it's very similar.
I feel that JYP is so fatphobic that you could see after her change in image she started to receive even less lines, is like they are trying to put her the least amount of time in the center to not ruin the group image or something!!which is a shame
I would say the entire kpop industry is fatphobic and JYP is the lesser of the evil. In other companies u r not even allowed to do activities if u gain weight. But also in recent comebacks she got to sing more in choruses
that is not even true. her lack of lines go to debut era. especially in title tracks. jeongyeon's best position in a title track is 2nd. hare hare. after her weight gain. she was 3rd in feel special, scientist and ttt. 2 of them after her hiatus. so no. your comment is not true. her weight is not the problem.
Lowkey true, but the line distributions go all the way back to Ooh Aah. Remember the final chorus when Jeongyeon has her first line in the whole song, and it's just covered with Jihyo screaming. 😭
Jisoo does gets fair amount of lines tho- like Blackpink's line distributions are very fair the only songs where she had less is Forever young & Aiiyl- In Blackpink's case the bigger problem is the members were held back by giving them less music but whenever they had a cb their lines were very much fairly distributed- & not to mention the members solo albums have more songs than the amount YG gave them
I wonder if they just don’t trust Jeongyeon vocal abilities. But it’s really weird that they can’t be bothered to giver her more lines, killer parts without having someone singing at the same time. This is annoying.
On a technical level, Jeongyeon is actually a better singer than Jihyo and Nayeon, it's just that her voice is naturally more mature and a bit darker than the others which didn't fit great with Twice's earlier concept and songs. However, right now, there's no excuse for her to be only a lead vocalist.
Jeongyeon should have as many lines as Nayeon, and JYP needs to stop giving singing parts to Dahyun and Chaeyoung. Probably too late at this point though. As for Gaeul, I don't even understand why she is in IVE, did Starship have a contractual obligation to debut her? She doesn't dance any better than the others, her vocal is the weakest, and Leeseo and Rei are better rappers. Its weird.
For me it's V and his baritone. Kpop is so obsessed with screaming that he has to always use his head voice whenever he sings in the group. Mind u he's baritone. Even if he gets to sing in his comfortable voice, they barely give him any line. Eg:- Truth Untold- a vocal line song, such a beautiful song, literally perfect for his voice but he had like 1 or 2line. Its so hard for me to watch the live performance cause he was just standing there the whole time staring into the distance while the rest 3 were singing. Suga also said that V has to sacrifice his voice for the rest of the vocalists. So for me it's V. Sorry for my long essay.
for BTS' case, it's seldom the "screaming" aka belting, it's the insane use of falsetto that literally no one in the band does well. Their entire group's vocal line can be called "badly utilized", though I agree that V is the stark example with his naturally low voice. Although HYBE's insistence on having Jimin squeal like a bad Mariah Carey impersonator needs to be highlighted just as much. It's become synonymous to his identity as an idol that he can't escape having his music be defined by it. At least V can use his baritone voice in his solos without people batting an eye.
As a Jeongyeon and a Gaeul bias, it's honestly disheartening to see them being undercut a every possible moment. They can both dance and sing exceptionally well, but never get any exposure whatsoever. In Gaeul's case, it seems like every part she gets is always oversaturated with autotune and voice filtering. Like she has a good voice tone and has caught the attention of many fans as shown by every comeback. Why don't they let girlie sing for once??
You're spot on about Blackpink, YG always kinda messed up line distribution since the beginning of their career: too few rap lines to Jennie who is a better rapper than Lisa and too many lower vocal lines to Jennie that could've been given to Jisoo to let her sing more confortably in her proper range.
i honestly feel sort of bad for gaeul. of course she's just an idol achieving her dreams so she's winning, if anything, but being real... she's the weakest vocalist, a weak rapper, and now only the 2nd best dancer in the group (surpassed by yujin) i remember during debut simply thinking she wasn't a stand out member and simply not ready to debut. it's pretty obvious she got far because of her visual which common in kpop, yes, but i feel like all other members have something else going for them while gaeul just... doesn't.
Gaeul has things going for her but i just feel like she doesn't get many opportunities to do it, gaeul can write her own rap and i would say can rap pretty well, singing is her weak point but she can still make it work if we look at her famous line in after like. I also really liked her voice in her marigold cover. I think it's just maybe starship thinks her voice doesn't suit ive much and also the parts she could have are placed with members who are more skilled, popular or just fit it more
Great job dude! Honestly Ive just kind of makes me mad lol the line distribution in that group is such a mess. Like it's clear that Wonyoung and Yujin are favored. Isn't Liz like the main vocal??? But they keep giving all the high notes to Yujin 😅
The first twice song I listened to was “what is love” and I thought jeongyeon had the best voice and felt like she should have sang more. After that I listened to whatever their most recent song was at the time which was “more and more” and it only made me like her vocals more. Even though jihyo and nayeon can sing and they have talent, I am not a fan of their voices. I think out of the three jeongyeon has the more pleasant sounding voice. They also need to stop giving her the third chorus that always get overshadowed by a nayeon or jihyo high note
Honestly I'm tired of the Yunah doesn't fit illit narrative. She futs just fine and her vocals add alot to their songs. But I get what you're saying. She would thrive more elsewhere.
Do you think Jeongyoen has received more time on songs, as Twice seeks more Western audiences? I’m curious. I still would love to hear her have the most vocals.
Justice for Jeongyeon’s vocals!! Within her group, she has one of the most pleasing tones. It pains me that they don’t play with that more.
10 years and still nothing 😶
Even in the sub-unit song for Formula Of Love she was second 😭
@jxstadri i think it’s okay she got the most challenging parts.
YES !
This. Jisoo is alway treated as an afterthought. I alway thought Jisoo sings like she has a cold. Her lines are a mixture of husky and nasal.
@@luisab3079 exactly and unfortunately this happens in so many groups
and it's true sadly, bcs she always sings the prechorus With Rosé,and then for the 2nd they switch parts. In Dkwtd producers tried something different and it worked(one of their most loved bside) bcs it sounded harmonious
Yes, She always shines more in a bridge section and a verse(if given).
what confuses me is that when TWICE covers a song, Jeongyeon always get many lines, but when it comes to their own songs even sub vocalists that are objectively one of the least skilled(vocally) get more than her most of the time
Its definitely because they want those covers to work well, and Jeongyeon can do that.
So why ?
Also in off the record despite being a good rapper she recieved no rap
To be fair leeseos and reis rap suited the song better but with other songs it really makes no sense @@minjuscookie
@anisaafsar4528 yes i really liked the rap parts it was soft and cute which suits leeseo.
Jeongyeon is really stable and do deserve way more lines. And they should let Momo sing in her real voice.
However I think nowadays Twice are starting to provide some decent live vocals which I’m happy about because they’re my ults moreover I used to LOVE their old performances in Sixteen and during their early days as Twice vocally speaking, it’s sad that JYP wasted the talent over the years because they have really unique and distinct vocal color
she is the 2nd best vocalist in the group too
no not everyone nayeon jihyo tzuyu and sana get treated really well
As soon as you mentioned Seulgi getting lines that suited her rather than expecting her to always match Wendy, my mind went straight to Jisoo.
I agree, Jisoo is the best when it comes to lower register and vibrato but YG didn't utilize her strengths.
so hoping for it to shine more in her solo in Feb
Oh well.
And worst of it she barely get any fashion project or any idol collabration, which makes me more pissed
I don’t have any fans.” (If I can find the video title I’ll be sure to come back & edit this comment with the name, but this is me recounting from memory.)
Everyone kind of laughed it off but that moment stuck with me.
I heard she wrote 9 songs but company rejected them (maybe its just a rumor)
If it isnt for the girls, jeongyeon would leave kpop scene for sure!
Or the most popular concepts/trends
JYPE is divided to multiple subdivisions so yeah we can praise them for BAE's treatment and still can fight them for Jeongyeon
@@foikiore1300 i respect Nmixx’s subdivision for doing justice and i truly heartily have no respect for twice’s sub div3
@dazzjeongling8440 div4 = diva for a reason 🫦
The way red velvet had to be mentioned twice😭
I mean despite the group being mistreated by SM, the members remain very well utilize and each get a chance to shine (most of the time). I think it would to easy though to compare anyone to the other 3 members as wendy obviously is the main vocal without doubt, Irene get decent singing time and she obviously is well utilized as a center and Joy is treated as a lead vocalist instead of sub vocalist (while still getting some small rap part)
@ the only thing SM had done right😭
Your observations about Julie are so spot on! Glad she got to debut with people who would match and feed her energy
The whole group is crafted beautifully if you look at it.. natty's dancing ability, belle's vocals (bro's the next ariana ngl), julie's rap and haneul's aura charm and vocals.. companies should learn from their line up how to create a grp. like if you're just gonna put together ppl who don't match each other's vibe it's gonna end up like gaeul's or yunah's case. all the members of kiof somehow stand out on their own at the same time complement and balance each other out in the group idk if i make sense.. but that's the best i can put into words..
i really hope some companies (i'm looking at you hybe) do their group members justice.
jisoo just announced mini album releasing february 14th 🎉 can't wait to hear her voice in a solo settings
@@tiena6630 because most big vocal parts were done by jennie jisoo and rosé
What do you mean you had no idea about her weaknesses ??? She literally skips every vocally demanding line of her songs and screams some words here and there and in as if it's your last post chorus they literally chipmunked her voice to death, come on now wth
@@Bangch4nslaptopI'd say they both carried their performances, Rosé vocally and Lisa stage presence wise, they kinda covered each other's weaknesses

Yes ive doesn’t use gaeul as the main dancer even if she is! But ive usually does not have dance breaks and the choreos are usually light! But gaeul deserves better
Their choreos are light? Wth it's full of crazy details....
@@minjuscookie having details does not make it intense! Thier choreos forcuses more on hand movements than foot works

@@minjuscookieyes they’re choreos are light.
I mean, they do have dance breaks for songs like Love Dive (the kind of choreo I see people want back for them) but those usually center around Yujin, which is of course not her fault.
Makes me wonder where Gaeul is popularity-wise in the group, that could be the reason sadly.
Jeongyeon is the lead vocalist but gets treated like a sub vocalist
Gaeul used to get less but ever since Kitsch/I AM she does get treated fairly like her lines are fine in the recent album like IVE SWITCH where she wasn't even last
Gaeul Was utilized and then forgotten about when they realized They can Push Leeseo to Have Rap parts
Jisoo's vocal color is my favorite in Blackpink, but it's so rarely put to good use that it's almost like it doesn't exist. I REALLY hope I'll get to hear a lot more of it in the future
Jeongyeon's voice is my fav among twice members
Same
Beautiful tone
me too, i was expecting for her solo debut last year, but the gave it to tzuyu :(
Well, Yunah's strengths might be in the more energetic and dark concepts, but she has spoken herself that she likes the concept, arguably most out of the members.
Blackpink is one of the *only* groups where more than half of the members were fluent in english so it might have been really hard for Jisoo
YG just really did her dirty they promoted jennie more as the visual and didn't give her proper lines to showcase her skill. Jisoo didn't need to speak english she had her members for that
@sliverhalo9286 you can clearly see she feels left out in interviews
It was hard for Jisoo
Poor Girl❤
Just because Yunah did well in that Bad girl, good girl stage doesn't mean she's doing bad now but that's the weird narrative they're trying to push
agreed with both you and the reply!! illits concept is so fresh and its adorable how much yunah clearly loves it! maybe i just dont get peoples attatchment to the bggg since i knew ILLIT yunah before RUN, but i think shes so entertaining to watch on stage just as much, if not more, than bggg!
honestly everytime i see that fancam posted somewhere its traumatic the amount of 'illit ruined yunah' comments i see as a yunah bias T-T
just wish people would put that opinion aside and watch a recent yunah fancam, im 99% sure theyd change their mind ;;
i agree with all of these except what you said about yunah. i kind of have a lot of beef with those who say she doesn’t suit illit because i think a lot of kpop fans fall victim to the idea that any female idol under 20 needs to be cutesy and any idol over 20 needs to be sexy and mature. there’s also this idea that because they have certain facial features, they should be given certain songs accordingly.
we can see people say similar things about eunchae of le sserafim and while i don’t think they should have her shakin ass like in smart ☝️ there are so many people who think just because she’s young and has cutie cheeks she should be doing something cute but when you SEE eunchae in music videos and fancams for crazy, unforgiven, and impurities in particular, you can appreciate her for an artist and someone who is capable of suiting many different styles.
all this to say that yunah’s presence in illit is crazy to me. her fancams are my favorite in the group and i get somewhat frustrated when people say that she should ve doing something else because are we looking at the same person? she has charisma and charm that balances illit so well- her and iroha are a strong charismatic duo with the abilities and range to be both chic and cute. i think just because yunah performs “mature” things well, that doesn’t mean her talents aren’t being utilized properly.
edit: i didn’t mean for this to be so long and i’m not even trying to argue with you or anyone lmao i just want us to expand on what we think girls and women in the industry can do without limiting them to what we want or expect them to do 🙂↕️
I mean, I can understand why you'd think this is about ageism, and it's a bit of a defensive(?) topic for Illit fans because everyone who wants to bash Yunah is to say that "she's too old", whoever I disagree that is because of her age and it's just because she shines the most when she does more mature or stronger concepts.
Secondly, everyone has their own tastes, so again, I understand that for you and many other fans, she might be the member who has the best fancams or stage presence in her group. And with the way she goes viral when she performs stronger concepts, I think most people think the same way 🤷♀️
PS: I also agree that Eunchae fits LSF's concept so well, and what she needs is choreography that is more appropriate for her age...
THANK YOUUU T--T people see the bggg fancam and then see that illit is girly and lose their minds, yunah was not ruined by illits concept!! (which is more then just cute!!)
yunah loves her group and music, and she is amazing on stage! people take their weird opinion that she shouldve been in a girl crush group and take it as fact saying 'she stood out so much!' and wont watch an illit stage, where she still stands out in such a good way! shes my bias which would prob influence my opinion, but theres many people still saying she is wonderful for illits concept. so i truly think those who say shes not just havent given illit a chance, genuinely
@@almariaghern1876 hey! if ur trying to give yunah a chance, id recommend the bsides! yunah doesnt get a lot of lines in the title tracks! pimple, lucky girl syndrome, and midnight fiction are favs of mine! shes also illits adlib queen, she does alot of the backing vocals and harmonizing!
i do think smth preventing her going viral is just she's prolly the least utilized member of the group :( shes one of the most talented vocalists in ILLIT but is blatantly ignored in favor of the other members, i wish people would take more issue with that then something that cant be changed like the girls' concept ;;
Eight by IU too
I think obviously Yeri can pull even more than she is doing in red velvet, but I stil think she is not misused.
@@mothflame99 yet again an other Joy hater trying to trash talk about my girl
She's not conventionally attractive like Tzuyu, who can get away with releasing an average solo because she'll garner attention with her looks.
it wasn’t that. she said on bubble (not an interview) in 2024 that she wasn’t interested in a solo despite fan theories, but she might be in a year or so, so its not a bad thing to have fingers crossed for this year
yeah maybe she’ll release a solo one day, i didn’t say she said “never”. but if it’s never it’s okay too
a solo project can range between a solo album or a solo UA-cam channel with occasional covers and og songs ot meant to be on albums
exo is one of the best in utilising their talent, especially over time, sehun sounds much better as a rapper now look at his verses in gravity, ohlalala, obsession, paradise and so many more and kai went from getting barely any lines to having one of the best solo discography
Sehun is underutilized and Kai only got to shine as a dancer in Exo. It’s only when he went solo, that he actually got to shine as a singer.
@@onyx6411I wish Oh!GG did more because she absolutely murdered me in Lil’Touch when she actually got a chance to shine.
i recently have been on a twice strategy kick, and when i heard jeongyeon's voice, i didn't even recognize it (i'm not a twice stan, just an occasional twice listener), but i heard the voice and i was like "damn! who is this member? they're so good at singing!", so i checked, and it was jeongyeon. she has such a wonderful voice and i'm so sad that it's not as utilized as nayeon or jihyo. they're also amazing vocalists, but it was very refreshing to hear jeongyeon sing something that has been handed to nayeon/jihyo in the past. (for reference, i've only listened to can't stop me, set me free, and strategy, so if there are other songs where jeongyeon is singing high notes, i haven't heard them).
You can check out jeongyeon's high note in one in a million
I recommend HO! , like a fool , hold me tight, one in a million, up no more, stuck and queen of hearts for the b-sides Jeongyeon has highnotes /high choruses in all of them
And for the title tracks one spark , knock knock and candy pop
nah cus gaeul was utilized so well during i am and wave era in the context of vocals and rap, now she’s a backup vocalist for leeseo💀
ALSO HEHEHE, the reference(comment) that i made last video is here on jeongyeon with the lack of variety of line she gets since she mainly belts, ik i was so rightttt
Rei is a better rapper (doesn't mean Gaeul can't rap), and all the members have similar type of voice, and Gaeul and Yujin force their voice sometimes to match the tone
could’ve just said they dont know what to do with gaeul but ok 😭
Honestly Gaeul was given the iconic parts since debut, but literally nothing else. She has the catchiest parts in Eleven and Love Dive, the iconic pre-chorus in After Like, beautiful vocals in I Am, and then Starship decided to drop her out of nowhere. It's so odd.
@@inplane9970 she wasn't given iconic part she made them iconic
and noticed how wave and i am she went viral both due to her Vocals and not rap, even After like her prechorus overshadowed her rap.
This is such a fun series, please continue making these videos :)
Jeongyeon has a nice vocal tone
I love Jeongyeon voice, make me feel so good. You are correct, she need more lines in all the songs. My favorite voice in Twice 💚
As long as you keep making these videos, I'll keep watching them!! I love the idea, now I wish more people did this
I wish jisoos lines were made for jisoo 😭 having her as my ult and feeling rewarded hearing her at least three times in a song should not be a daily occurrence
Jeongyeon used to be a better singer than nayeon, but nayeon is given more room to sing a lot of parts exploring her voice, now making them neck and neck in terms of skills singing
I’d to see a video on SNSD. Many of the members themselves have spoken out about this, especially Sooyoung and Sunny.
yess i think yunah first perfect in illit its rlly annoying people think just cuz she 20 she has to do mature concept
ive never understoond why Jeongyeon didnt get her shine. shes literally one of the best singers in her group
the thing that makes me the most mad about jeongyeon’s treatment is when sometimes in songs with strong vocals or vocals that fit her, she gets barely any lines😭
Jisoo will be releasing a mini album 14/2
We are ready
Please mini albums have like 3 to 4 songs MANIFESTING 4 songs 😭😭😭
I honestly feel bad for Gaeul 😢 like in the beginning she got almost no lines besides her Royal lines in Love Dive and After-Like, the. it changed to where she was getting plentiful lines and most finishing first a few times during I AM. i have no clue what happened in that boardroom, but now it feels she’s completely disregarded of her talents and features from Baddie till now💔
Leesoo takes her raps, Yujin takes her dance breaks and centre time in them and Wonyoung,Liz n Rei take whatever vocal parts are left
I hope she gets better treatment man
I would like to point out that, when someone as VITAL as Wendy is missing on a stage, Seulgi and Joy, the Vocal Line, take most of if not all of Wendy's lines.
Whereas with someone as vital as Jihyo or Nayeon, when they aren't on a stage, weaker vocalists like Sana and Mina, although vital parts of the vocal line, cover the lines when Jeongyeon is sitting right there. (No hate to either since Sana is my ult bias through and through.)
The sad thing about Jeongyeon lines is that Mina gets more lines than Jeongyeon. A Sub-Vocalist getting more than a Lead Vocalist...embarrassing...
Jeongyeon is one of the most stable live performaner in twice.
Yunah usually does all the higher harmonies in illit songs!! I think she is the belter in illit
well yes and no yunah did most of the harmonies in magnetic but wonhee did most of the harmonies in cherish ( yunah also did some but wonhee did more) and also when ever they do covers that require some sort of high note wonhee is usually the one that does it but i mean they've only had one comeback so i dont think its really fair to include illit anyway
@@hamster6827 i actually agree with this!! i know kiof is 5thgen too but they got tons of comebacks already, illit literally has one LOL thats a good point lolol
Thanking you for advocating for Jeongyeon😭
I will say Gaeul did get the final chorus in Heya which was a nice surprise and is by far the best part of the song
I really like this concept I would love more videos like this
I was hoping you would speak about Jeongyeon since I watched the last video. Glad to see her spoken of, every twice comeback I just leave wishing I heard more from her
Jeongyeon voice is amazing! I know she don't want a solo but i hope she get one!
We need a bg version of this as well. There are so many idols who are misused in there too.
I think Youngeun is a great example of under utilized she really fades into the background of kep1er
Actually yunah would be perfect in meovv.
I've never been as early as this!
Keep making videos, king. We are always on the lookout for new content from you!
Yunah has said she likes ILLIT’s concept, so I’m happy that it’s not something she dislikes doing bc that would be MUCH worse
mann i genuinely disagree so much with this yunah argument, she loves her concept and the fact people think shes been ruined by it is heartbreaking. if they just gave her a chance, listened to her vocals and watched a stage they know how well she fits in! she stands out the most to me in my opinion, that girl was born to be on stage! i wish people would stop with this dark good cute bad arguement with yunah when she so clearly loves what she does :(
to be sad over no girl crush concept, sure thats one thing, but to advocate shes bad at her current concept or doesn't belong is just flat out mean. not 'honest'
But also in recent comebacks she got to sing more in choruses
well jeongyeon herself said she doesn’t like to be the center of attention so i don’t think her having less center time is a issue for her
that is not even true. her lack of lines go to debut era. especially in title tracks. jeongyeon's best position in a title track is 2nd. hare hare. after her weight gain. she was 3rd in feel special, scientist and ttt. 2 of them after her hiatus. so no. your comment is not true. her weight is not the problem.
It was never about the weight🙄 She’s been getting less lines since debut
Lowkey true, but the line distributions go all the way back to Ooh Aah. Remember the final chorus when Jeongyeon has her first line in the whole song, and it's just covered with Jihyo screaming. 😭
Jisoo does gets fair amount of lines tho- like Blackpink's line distributions are very fair the only songs where she had less is Forever young & Aiiyl- In Blackpink's case the bigger problem is the members were held back by giving them less music but whenever they had a cb their lines were very much fairly distributed- & not to mention the members solo albums have more songs than the amount YG gave them
I think he means that they don’t use jisoo’s voice well. Her lines are mostly written with rosé’s voice in mind but it doesn’t suit jisoo.
In several songs she gets like one line lmao. Also they usually give her lines that don’t fit her voice.
ikr! blackpink line distribution is very fair
Gaeul is such a wasted opportunity, it's so sad
Jeongyeon should have as many lines as Nayeon, and JYP needs to stop giving singing parts to Dahyun and Chaeyoung. Probably too late at this point though.
As for Gaeul, I don't even understand why she is in IVE, did Starship have a contractual obligation to debut her? She doesn't dance any better than the others, her vocal is the weakest, and Leeseo and Rei are better rappers. Its weird.
oh how i love this series!!!
I love his honey voice😭
@@BangSon-mw4gx This! I think in DNA they did utilize his baritone voice really well and I wish more BTS group songs were like it
for BTS' case, it's seldom the "screaming" aka belting, it's the insane use of falsetto that literally no one in the band does well.
@@DiegoSanstwenhow did we go from talking about V to talking about Jimin? Like we get it but let’s keep the focus on V.
V is well utilised I say all BTS are well utilised they all have solo's
As a Jeongyeon and a Gaeul bias, it's honestly disheartening to see them being undercut a every possible moment. They can both dance and sing exceptionally well, but never get any exposure whatsoever.
In Gaeul's case, it seems like every part she gets is always oversaturated with autotune and voice filtering. Like she has a good voice tone and has caught the attention of many fans as shown by every comeback. Why don't they let girlie sing for once??
You're spot on about Blackpink, YG always kinda messed up line distribution since the beginning of their career: too few rap lines to Jennie who is a better rapper than Lisa and too many lower vocal lines to Jennie that could've been given to Jisoo to let her sing more confortably in her proper range.
for jisoo part what is worse when a sing fits her voice she gets the least amount of lines😅
I wouldn’t say Yeri is well utilized I’d say she’s just more established than Gaeul. I’d put them in the same boat tbh
i honestly feel sort of bad for gaeul. of course she's just an idol achieving her dreams so she's winning, if anything, but being real... she's the weakest vocalist, a weak rapper, and now only the 2nd best dancer in the group (surpassed by yujin) i remember during debut simply thinking she wasn't a stand out member and simply not ready to debut. it's pretty obvious she got far because of her visual which common in kpop, yes, but i feel like all other members have something else going for them while gaeul just... doesn't.
Gaeul has things going for her but i just feel like she doesn't get many opportunities to do it, gaeul can write her own rap and i would say can rap pretty well, singing is her weak point but she can still make it work if we look at her famous line in after like. I also really liked her voice in her marigold cover. I think it's just maybe starship thinks her voice doesn't suit ive much and also the parts she could have are placed with members who are more skilled, popular or just fit it more
Agree! So much! With all!
She would thrive more elsewhere.
you manifested Jisoo's comeback omg
the fact yoonchae is last and is on the level of some lead vocalists says something about the group
Do you think Jeongyoen has received more time on songs, as Twice seeks more Western audiences? I’m curious. I still would love to hear her have the most vocals.
