For removing the parking brake cable from the backing plate, Use a 1/2" or 13mm wrench to collapse the fingers and the cable will pull right out. Hope this helps. God bless, stay well.
I have an 8.25 in my garage waiting on disk brake swap parts before I throw it in my 98 with a d35. Did you have to do anything with the ABS system for yours, or does it only really control on the front axle?
Nooiice. I would like to change my 98XJ D35 to an 8.25 or D44. I'm running 33in BFGs now with 4:75 gears. Seems fine... Then again we don't do hard rock crawl'n. Just high desert run'n around. If I found an 8.25 with already 4:75s, then I'd get it just for a direct swap.
I have a 93 Cherokee Country with the Dana 35 rear axle. I’m planning to swap it with an “eight’naquarter”. How can I check my gear ratio for front and rear?
@@JeepinJimmy My first XJ was a 94 Country. Had ABS and a LSD in the rear. Made for an incredibly capable 4WD. Also had the 242 transfer case, so even better in snow.
@@JeepinJimmy so getting a 8.25 would be better bc my Dana 35 exploded when I was on the highway and I have stock everything and I’m afraid it would be a smooth transition

Thanks! Right on, Dana 44 would be sweet if you could find a direct swap!

Should be a small metal tag shared with 2 of the cover bolts stamped with the ratio. The ratio will be the same for both if you find one
My took box top drawer has the same shit in it! Love the videos!
The drunk drawer is always coming in clutch haha. Thanks!
Did you have to change the driveshaft??. I've read that the D35 driveshaft is longer and will need to be shortened for the 8.25 swap.
I did not. It probably should be changed though so it's the proper length.
If you do a rear disc brake conversion your axle shaft won't come flying out if you happen to break a C Clip.
Thats a good point! Think I will look into doing that soon
And hopefully the new rear has the same gears as you front axle? I'm sure you already checked that. Right?
Yes same ratio. I should have pointed that out though!

How did you delete the abs just pull the fuse
Yup just pulled the fuse! I have read that this has not worked for some, but luckily it worked for me to get rid of that light!
Which fuse is it?
@@ericnguyen4666 mine was labeled “abs light”
so you advice people do delete their rear abs? are you serious?
Absolutely. Don't even think twice about it.
@@rite2beararms well, stupitity is not a crime
Don’t you need a new drive shaft bc the 8.25 is an inch shorter
Have to? No. Should you? Yeah probably

How about that guy that helped ya get that rear at the junkyard
Haha thanks buddy!
