@@usvr7516 For me anyway its just the as355f2 with the arius engines that i just love the sound of it starting. i went on one once a few years ago G-bypa it went on to end badly one nite thankfully i wasnt on it but i missed it by one week. time is right to get back on one but they are fairly rare in uk now my local airfield got rid of their last hirable one last year. not a pilot yet so no solos for me but i promise myself one day i will.

what you don't see here is the pilot opening the starter valve, the engine rotates to about 15% N/G when fuel is introduced. it is critical for the pilot to monitor the TGT to ensure there is no overtemp. every engine has start limits. the starter cuts out or is manually released between 58 and 60% NG :)

I love how you can see the hot exhaust after he introduces fuel.

@IMFDB Yeah, the tapping are the igniters in the combustion chamber. The electric starter turns the engine until there is sufficient airflow to introduce fuel then BOOM!!!

@IMFDB I agree with you the tapping is most likely an igniter spark device to start combustion. Regards John

@technofreak You are correct it is a AS355. I presume the exhaust and air intake cowlings are different on the AS350. Thanks John.
