- This video was sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. I decided to link up with the trail crew working on the newest mountain bike trail system there, the Northwoods. The folks at IMBA Trail Solutions were kind enough to let me be a fly on the wall as they
laid the final sections of trail before opening.

That butt-less shovel is a thing of beauty! Every dirt jump builder's dream.
Hey Phil I know you and Seth have both done videos about what makes a good entry level mountain bike. Thanks to those tips, I purchased a MTB 1 year ago but it has a SR SUNTOUR Fork and it clearly explains in a warning sign in the fork that I should not be jumping with this bike. After a year riding, I have improved tremendously. I am even learning how to jump but I need a better bike. Can you and/or Seth do a video of what components are important in a bike to do some jumps and ride more aggressive. It doesn't necessarily has to be a full suspension it could also be a hardtail. Thank you!!!
Victor Reyes look at Seth’s murder machine bike build hardtail made to be thrown around
Skills With Phil a
Surely you at least gotta have some butt? Flat is also a bit boring isn't it?
Skills With Phil when you coming to Bentonville to shred bro? You’ve waited long enough!
This is how paid content can still be interesting and entertaining!!! Great work
Gotta make a living, but it’s great to work with clients who give you full creative reign
I’ll talk to South Carolina to see if they can hire Seth to convince them to build more trails here. LOL
I live in New Zealand and even I'm interested in coming to visit!!

I wish this shit would happen where I live.
Cujows same I’ve got like no trails in my town or a skatepark it’s shit
Join or start a club and make shit happen instead of wait for some one else. Then you can have it like you want it. Good luck!
ye same, I live in Manchester where its flat and the nearest hills are all at least 3 hour drives away
Manchester UK or Manchester USA?
Jeremiah Robinson haha imagine taking initiative, not for me
Hey Seth! I’m a pro scooter rider looking to get a mountain bike to mess around with. I was introduced to your channel via my followers as well as some other mountain bike riders who stumbled across a couple of my videos. Great stuff man! Keep it up!
Raymond Warner hey Raymond
Hey Raymond, I really enjoy your vids, keep up the great work!!
This is perfect. For a school project I’m going to write a letter to my town in New Hampshire and try to get them to build a jump trail. I can’t wait for your next video. Keep up the great work.
Cameron im in NH too lol
Good Luck!
Did they build one?
Cameron Newbold did they build one?
@@zackclarke6345 Unfortunately no. They deemed it "too unsafe for our younger riders" Guess I gotta stick to Highland.
Thanks for this Seth and hats off to Hot Springs! They know what’s up. 👌🏼

"We're creating a Disney World for mountain biking"...... 😮...... shut up and take my money!
Where is it ?
Lol
Awesome to see you promoting trail building stuff Seth. Everyone should know the hard work that goes into this type of trail and recognize the builders! Cheers to the Trail Elves!
Yh tell me about it
Not enough people understand how much work goes into building these things! You see the pros drifting around, although they usually maintain their local trails. The big problem is the people who blindly copy them and don't ever help. We need more capable trail builders!
Thank you the trail elves thank you
Thanks for this, Seth. This was very interesting. If you continue this series on trail building, do you plan to include any information on how trails are designed? What considerations need to be taken to ensure proper drainage, environmental concerns, etc? I would love to hear more on that topic.
Stay upright and keep the rubber side down.
I plan to continue digging deep into trail building, not only for the video content but my own knowledge
Seth's Bike Hacks Hey Seth, could you please look into the Diamondback Atroz 3? Or tell me what you think of it? Its Diamondback cheapest trail worth full sus and I was looking into buying one. I would upgrade to dropper post and a rear shock with lockout. Is this a good idea?
Where I live there is a trail poorly made if something, I would like to contribute in making it great, please continue uploading this series of videos
@@glidewillie5767 Id say keep looking. Try secondhand better value for money if you dont mind a few scratches

In Finland we just take the same paths that the raindeers and bears once took.
And koskenkorva instead of water;)
Right! Seems much easier than doing all this.
Ya i fallow the deer and coyote tracks
Watching old videos and saw this but in Canada smae thing but replace rain deer with moose and caribou
UA-cam didnt show me a notification but luckily I remembered when you upload
thanks homie!
Same here, wasn't even on my notifications feed but saw the post from yesterday so I went looking for it!
Any one notice the littel spider crawling up the berm at 7:25

Getting me so stoked to move back home to Bville later on in life!!! Thank you for this video, Seth, this is truly awesome stuff that you all are doing there. Great way of bringing to light the hard work that our state is doing. Keep up the great work and please continue with the great content! Makes a difference in people's love for MTB. I hope to be able to support you soon through Patreon!
Mariano Mendez what is an Arkansas winter like? Can you guys ride all winter?
My city in Canada is already building a pump track that will be open in summer so im very excited
@Thomas Purdy I'm from Rimouski in Quebec
Closest trails to me are Kelso in Milton. That's ma spot!
@@WelcomeToJ I heard of it it's sond very cool
@Thomas Purdy Ya, they really have a variety of trails for different skill levels. Simple, fast, twisty single track to a couple of double black diamonds which can literally break your neck. Very happy to have these close by!
Machine made trails are the burger King of mtb.
Natural gnar is the rare steak.
yeah if your in BC..
People who ride nothing but flow trails should never call XC guys dirt roadies. The stuff they ride is closer to a road...
@@NoxiousNoodles only a road with 2 meter jumps and drops
@@NoxiousNoodles I ride mostly flow because I have a hard tail and can't afford a full sus bike. I do like technical Rocky trails, but it's fun to be able to fly down a trail at full speed and not worry about bumps. I also ride with my xc friends every now and then. Mountain biking is a lot funner when everyone gets a long in my opinion
@@burntrat8940 Totally agree. Been seeing XC guys get called dirt roadies a lot of late. More calling out people who say that (and are hypocrites for doing so) than all flow trail riders.
Yess now this is how you end a Friday

Salute to the builders.
but rocks and roots are integral parts of n.e. singletrack goodness, ya got a dang autobahn quality smoothness there :)
You are the favorite channel !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😛😛😛😃😃😃
I use ALL of those hand tools in wildland firefighting. They're tough as nails and effective as all get out. Great vid, Seth! Props to the trail builders!
I'd imagine there's at least some passing similarities to making a firebreak, too. Just a *lot* faster and not going for looks.
Us trail builders owe a lot to you guys! Keep up the good work!
I was watching your water bottle cage video when I got the notification on this video.
Arkansas is becoming the mountain bike Capital of the USA I am a Canadian and i am planning a trip there to play on them wicked looking trails I love how our sport is growing 👍. Thanks Seth .
David Keats come on down! It’s mountain bike heaven!
Ranger54 oh I so am my wife’s Dad lives in Fayetteville just don’t know if I should pack my bike there or rent one for 2 weeks mite get pricey !
@@Mrkeats5487 I know Phat Tire will rent out a dual suspension for about $60 a day. If it's a longer stay though they may cut you a better deal. Give them a call! Definitely the best location for a shop and they have super fast service whenever you need it.
i live in arkansas you should go to that one in bentonville like he was talking about its EPIC!
It's crazy how much work goes into making just one berm.
If you build it, they will come.
1:40 Yes. I am building trails through woods in my back yard, and it is one of the toughest things I have ever done. But the payoff is great.
I love that cities are doing this for the community but I wish they were made for everyone. Those trails would be perfect for adaptive MTB, except for the jumps that don't look to be rollable.
"Disneyworld for MTB" 😁🤘 . Time to start planning my vacation time for a trip that way! Thanks Seth
As long as its edible and tasty I'm down!
Exactly!
Down on the ground? 😂
They are doing great job😘😘😘😘
Are you watching rampage today?
My town... entire county could use something like this. Ever since NASCAR pulled out out economy has been suffering. A year round Mountain bike trial system like this would go a long way to helping us.
Why are they using helmets? Is there any above the head work going on?

hey seth! my name is Jake and i’m 13 years old. i’ve been riding for 4 years now and i’m wanting to upgrade to a full suspension. i have a mid tier hardtail and i’m riding it too hard. my budget is $1000 do you have a recommendations for me? Thanks!
Hey Seth, I’m about to buy a new bike but am still deciding wether I want to get a Hardtail or a full suspension. Could you make a video on what to buy and what is better for certain types of riding, a Hardtail or full suspension??
crb 3417 full suspension
Shane do you think I could still do a full on a $1500 budget?
marin hawkhill is one. gaint stance may also be another. And those are 2 pretty good bikes.
Shane do you think those would be better than a Hardtail at that price such as a Commencal meta ht am?
crb 3417 Personally i would rather have a full suspension, although i have had a ton of fun on a hardtail, i guess it comes down to personal preference and the trails you are going to be riding.
What I want to do is build a flow trails and midway thru the fastest part put a rock that good for making pinchflats
Mahahahhahahahahahahahaha (JOKE!!!)
Woah they grill a mountain bike trail
hey seth my name is Ewan McLeod, im from Rotorua, NZ and I really reckon you should come over and if you ever do me and my mates will gladly take you around and get gnarly. oh but dont forget the food.
This is my favourite channel!
In my opinion this is got to be one of your best videos ever. in part because my area only has one comparably small gravity flow trail called spine trail at Essex words in Bangor Maine. and also because I want to be calm a trail builder for my local penobscot region nemba chapter
Yo seth I am 14 years old and me and my frends jumps and flow trails
I’ve never gone to a mountain bike park but me and my friends make trails at our school and there’s this one trail that we’re not allowed to go on but we still do

When you actually live in Bentonville and you recognize Peddle’s Pub and the square.
Thumbs up if you spotted the Grandaddy longlegs.
Dude, I love your videos. I’ve watched nearly all of them. This one popped up in my feed and I am so happy that it did. I’m in Memphis. I’m a musician. The Covid thing has me down for a couple of months so I’ve been able to ride my bike a lot more than typically. I can’t wait to strap my bike on the band van next time we play Hot Springs. Take care! Live Free, ride... just kidding. You and Alex have been very crucial to my survival during this pandemic. I’ve learned a lot from both of you. My wife works for Saint Jude and she might be reaching out to you to get the trio together for a fundraiser. I do think it will be a good opportunity for you to add a couple 25k more addicts- I mean viewers. ; )
That's how a sponsored video should be made. Awesome stuff.
So delicious! Thank you to all the trail builders out there, especially my brother Blake Griffin at Griffin Bike Park, who put in the long hours to build us feast-worthy trails!
Trail builders are AWESOME!
i live in batesville ar and this place is not as good as u make it
and you also have Cedar Glades in Hot Springs - some great xc singletrack
Yeah, Cedar Glades doesn't get enough attention. It's like whenever they built Northwoods everyone forgot about Cedar Glades. And all the tourists acted like there had never been a trail in hotsprings or something. Kinda sucks because Cedar Glades is a nice sometimes challenging (but fun) trail.
Hey Seth’s I always comment and I try and like very vid I enjoy watching you I’m subbed and notified for every upload this really helps because I’m building a trail I need some tips if so comment on my vids thanks, Riding With Blake
That isn't how you spell mcleod love the vid!
I actually used to live here maybe 6 years ago. The trails there were beautiful I'm glad they are doing stuff like this
Can’t wait to see some more
Love to go there but I live in Indiana
Nice video, and nice to see you making some trail building videos:)
Good trails here. About 20 minutes from my house.
That's just what I wanted to see because I'm going to build one in my back yard because of the berm creek videos
I love how they have a tool called "dirt bag"
Ayy I live in bentonville
My city just built a MTB park with free entry they have a downhill/ slopestyle section a drop section a jump zone and a few trails on it and its really fun
Seth: “and use heavy artillery when needed.”
Me: BRING OUT THE CANNONS!
I live an hour away from this and I would love to visit hot springs and I think it would be a good experience for me because I usually have never been to trails because there are no trails near where I live. I’m glad hot springs made this happen.
I wish we had professional mtb-trail workers in the Netherlands. Now i have to build my own trails. But it is fun!
Yup, the trail builders are MASTERS at our local park, Trestle bike park. I used that same song at 6:17 (I wish that I was a mad man) WITH the lyrics on one of my recent videos! :)
OMG!!! Seth i'm getting a new bike after not having one for most of this year its a marin san quentin 1 2019 anyone else got this bike?
Hey Seth. I live in Roanoke Virginia. My local mountain is carvins cove. You should come up sometime and check it out
Thanks for making a trail building intro that's not boring as anything. Looking forward to the sequel(s) and "how to get my town to do this". Big thumbs up!
YEAH,NEW VIDEO!🔥
That is an amazing informative video. I wish they would build such trails where I live. Or maybye I will be the one to build them :D either way, thanks, Seth, this channel is the reason I started mountain biking
random question, are your bikes scratched from the bad falls that you get?
Hey Seth your cuts are becoming less noticeable. You getting on film level here (berm to berm shot)
This is added inspiration to get my ass out there and build more trails. The best part of trail building is testing them with your buddies. LOVE IT!!!
Awesome video as always!
Where's this kind of love near NYC?
That’s one the places that’s hardest to get funding-it’s a ski resort game up there. Hopefully that will change after the info I give in the next video!
Not late 😁

One of your BEST videos EVER!! Trail building was my life for years~~~~~
The first 15 seconds probably had 100s of people yelling
Can you please do a tips and tricks about riding a bike with a shovel I don't have a car and I don't know where to put my shovel to ride to the trails I ride bmx and found some old ramps I wanna fix them
this was very interesting next year go to killington vermont I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have 3 mountains
Beginning was so cringe
Thanks for the video showing one of the main factor of mountain biking, the trail builders. Sometimes I think we forget how much work goes into the trails we ride and this is a good reminder!
This channel is of amazingly high quality. Thanks for all the hard work you put into it!
Ah the builders, what make the trail a gem vs generic. A lot of hard work that's truly a gift to others.
love your videos!
