  • This video was sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. I decided to link up with the trail crew working on the newest mountain bike trail system there, the Northwoods. The folks at IMBA Trail Solutions were kind enough to let me be a fly on the wall as they
laid the final sections of trail before opening.

Not enough people understand how much work goes into building these things! You see the pros drifting around, although they usually maintain their local trails. The big problem is the people who blindly copy them and don't ever help. We need more capable trail builders!

Thanks for this, Seth. This was very interesting. If you continue this series on trail building, do you plan to include any information on how trails are designed? What considerations need to be taken to ensure proper drainage, environmental concerns, etc? I would love to hear more on that topic.

I used to live in Hot Springs in the 90's, this would have been amazing to have back then. Glad the town is doing something interesting to attract more people.. hopefully it inspires them to do more new things and help them grow. Beautiful place.

That’s awesome, I lived in Little Rock for five years and left in 2018, I was surprised there wasn’t more of this in Arkansas! They don’t have the snow for ski resorts but they certainly have the hills and weather for this kind of park. If I make it back to Arkansas I will be checking this place out!

Great work, I have been working on local public trails at my home town (Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas) at National Park Cañon del Sumidero, the conditions here are realy rough, the jungle here is so dense and de surface is covered with an infinity amount of rock also there is a lack of help from my fellow Mtbikers and only few help o donate money to build the trails, still I'm super happy to do so, and more, to ride my trails... You are welcome to ride in Chiapas Mexico, your video gave me lots of cheers to keep on digging!

Awesome to see you here, man! I ride at cedar glades and iron mountain often and I’m glad to see more trails being built here. Especially seeing as I just started riding again since being a teenager. 😅 getting back into the swing of things is a lot easier seeing trails like this!

I’ve just been volunteering at my new local bike park which is under construction. A bike shop bought a large piece of land and is building a trail system. You don’t appreciate how much work goes into trails until you give it a go!
