There were points I was also confused, but I disagree that a good book doesn’t make you have to re-read to digest and understand everything. I think the best books are the ones where you gain even more knowledge after the second read. Harry Potter books were like that for me where I re read it and enjoyed it because it was like a treasure hunt searching for new details that I missed before when I was reading super fast.
This was soo validating to read - I thought I was dumb cause I couldn’t put scenes together or imagine stuff and was so confused half the time but so glad you felt the same!!!!
I agree with her being weirdly confident my theory on that is that Tairn kinda low key makes her feel that over confidence because something that I absolutely love that she did is she did a great job with relaying tairns pride for violet and he voiced is pride for her both verbally and emotionally a lot and how could you not be confident with a bad ass Tairn being proud of you 😂
I don’t think the wardstones really affect the venin other than dampen their power, it drops all of the wyvern, but I’m pretty sure in the book it said that the venin fled once the wards were up and Melgren or whoever was sending people to try to go track them down
exactly! I think the wards even completely block the venin from their power, just like how the fliers couldn't wield anymore (or at least they shouldn't have been able too had the wards functioned properly) when they got the wards in Aretia up
i was soooo confused but i’m not a native english speaker so i was blaming myself, now i’m kinda glad to hear that it wasn’t a thing that just happened with me
it is genuinely mind blowing to me that people want the next book so quickly. The age of quick/fast content we are living in rn rly has people delulu. I get wanting to know what happens next in your fav book or show or whatever, but real art can't just be shit out. I think if you don't want to wait for the next book in any series to come out, don't even start the series until it's completely written and over!!! I cannot fathom how rebecca released iron flame 6 months after fourth wing, that's insane. And i'm so glad she removed the release date of the third book 🤣BY ALL MEANS, TAKE YOUR TIMMEE, she def gonna need it now after all the back lash about how confused most people are.
yall knocked this review out of the park. I couldn’t place what was wrong with this follow up. It felt quickly written, more tell than show, more action than thought and debrief. “I don’t know if it’s gonna last” is a great reflection on the relationship. It feels very comparable to chaol and aelin (pre Rowan). Chaol is Xaden, Aelin is Violet. Instead of having a relatable narrator, we relate and choose Chaol’s side instead.
In the abstract before one of the chapters they explain imbuing comes natural to riders who can ssyphon, so I think Sloane could imbue the wardstone much quicker than anyone else (with Violet's mom and her dragon's power).
Tbh I knew Xaden was gna turn Venin the moment it was confirmed Jack was Venin. It’s very similar to what happened in Vampire Academy, I feel like she got that idea from there.
Sloane had to do it because she was also siphoning Violet’s mother’s dragon as well. I really don’t get how it didn’t strip Sloane as well though since she was the one with her hand on the pillar 😂
I was soooo confused and had to re-read that chapter plus Yarros needs a list like Renegades but the character names and dragons as well as the Signet

I’m wanting to know about the Empyrean, the series is called the Empyrean series. I feel like there is so much more going on with the dragons!

Was cracking up with you 😂 so many good points I agreed with!
There were points I was also very confused, you guys are not alone!

Also, agree that RY is super good at foreshadowing! She did such a good job of foreshadowing Xadens second signet

I was so confused to the point that I just had to keep reading on cuz thinking about it would get me more confused 😂
