This video is visually stunning! Wow dude! Awesome overview as well. I've only ever played Mario Tennis once on an actual Virtual Boy demo unit back when they were for sale. Playing it again on the 3DS was almost a magical experience. It brought me right back to that day. I'm so glad we live in an age where stuff like this is possible through dedicated people. It's so weird Nintendo never did this themselves. Great video man!
Thank you so much dude! I know right, it seemed so perfect and I’m so glad it’s as amazing as I imagined it could be. Funny enough, I was showing it all to Sally last night, and she was playing Galactic Pinball. She hit a bonus and suddenly the Metroid logo shows up and you’re in Samus’s gunship! Yokoi’s R&D1 also made the Metroid series, which I totally forgot about
I'd need a lot of muscle relaxers after playing the Virtual Boy 😅 Great video!! You look gorgeous 🧡
I just keep staring at the amazing light you got me 🤩 I hope you enjoyed playing on the 3DS at least 😁 thank you my love!! 🧡
I actually rented a Virtual Boy from Blockbuster way back when, it was very interesting! I'll leave a more substantial comment if need be, I tend to leave a more detailed conversational one as sometimes I'm still working when I see these post. Also, I'll be moving into my own 1br apartment April 26th yay! Happy gaming!! -Marcus
I remember wanting to rent one too! Congrats on the new digs Marcus! 🥳
Okay… I’m definitely moding my 3ds now. Took me a while since I’m re enjoying all those games that I haven’t played since the switch came out. Thank you for this review, really enjoyed that.
Yess! Enjoy it! I was in the same boat (only pulled it out here and there the last couple years)
love the video production! great work! and great jacket haha
Haha thank you 😎
"Playing in a void" Yep! That's the best way to describe it that I've ever heard! Virtual Boy was ahead of its time.
I had Red Dragon installed on my 3DS and tried out a few games then deleted it because every one of them was glitchy. I didn't have my expectations to high when I heard about Red Viper. Boy, was I surprised! Every game works flawlessly and I love how you can change the color palette, something you couldn't do on original hardware! 😂
Side note: classic DOOM on the 3DS is one of the best ways I've ever played it on a handheld!
Oh I need to try Doom for sure!! 🩸
@@TynologyGaming It's called prboom3ds and it's available via Universal Updater. 😊
Fantastic video. ❤ Ive never seen a virtual boy in real life.
Thats such a cool emulator.
Thanks man! I went in not expecting much and was amazed
Such a cool video. I need to find time to do this so I can experience the VB's library!
Thank you Toast! Haha you must join usssss 🏴☠️
Perfect! Will set up today on 3ds.
Enjoy!
Ive had Red Viper on my 3ds for about a week now and its amazing. Im glad you made this vid, if you have a modded 3ds this is a must have emulator and more people need to experience these legendary games
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying it as much as I am! 🤘
the headache is caused by dlp shift. you see the screen is projected by a vertical line of led lights that flash at the same frequency as a tiny warp in the mirror. stretching the reflection across the mirror as it flashes. it is mechanical it can make people sick and give them headaches because of the movement.
Yeah it’s fascinating the led array being 1 pixel wide. I took one of mine apart to repair the ribbon cable that was messing up. Makes sense that the fluttering mirrors would cause the headaches for sure 👍
Man.. I had one of these in mint condition that I sold several years ago pretty cheap... really regret that now.
I feel ya, all the things I sold or traded in, or even things that just went missing, still kicking myself for not holding onto more of my old treasures...
if your willing to put a small hole in the battery holder, you could make fake battery's that have wires on them leading out of the hole and down to a generic ac adapter. a 3d printer would help here to make cleaner blanks, but you could also do it with wooden dowels small enough to fit in the case. I'm thinking you'd only have to make the first and last battery as I looked up the voltage on a picture of the ac adapter and it's 10v and I believe I saw you putting in AA's to get 10v off that seven would have to be in series thus only one pole of the first battery and the other pole of the last battery actually connect to anything other then another battery. a multi meter would come in handy to find which spot inside connects to what spot outside. and find an adapter that supports at least 1 amp at 10 volts and you'll have a "battery pack" that never runs out of power since it's actually plugged in.
Yeah I think you’re right and that seems to be basically what the tap adapter does (and utilizes the SNES AC adapter officially). This pack was expensive also, so I’m fine as it is as I don’t play for long and pop in batteries for single sessions. Thanks for the info!!
I'll not sure if it's exclusive to the New 3DS, but mine lets me adjust the 3d effect with the slider. It's absolutely perfect.
It looks like there’s already been an update, with several new features including the ability to adjust 3D!
I can't see blue for a while after I play my VB. Lol but it is an underated system. It did neglect a large feature, it wasn't multiplayer. It almost was, there was going to be a system link but it was left out last moment for some reason. Some games have been hacked to unlock the multiplayer features. This is cool for those that dont have or cant afford a real VB.
Haha yeah I’ve heard that happening after long sessions. I’ve seen videos with link cables and hacked carts, would love to try that one day!
OK, now I'm really kicking myself in the butt for selling my New 3DS XL!
Nooooooo! 😭
@@TynologyGaming if i buy another one. Can you help me put Red Viper on it?
@@officialnofriendo Of course dude, it's super easy
@@TynologyGaming awesome! Thanks dude!
Hey, you just need a center negative 9v power adapter. No need for special adapters.
It’s the Power Tap (the controller interface that accepts the standard plug) that’s expensive unfortunately
I will never own a virtual boy just because of the expense and my general lack of ambition to buy retro consoles now, but playing it on my 3DS has been fantastic. they really missed the ball with not making an official collection for 3DS! Still would be quite cool if they made an NSO for it
I’m still shocked especially after seeing how incredible the experience is 🤯
@@TynologyGaming me too!! i saw GVG’s video on it and started playing right away. amazing how well the 3D translates over
Biggest regret in life is not buying Virtual Boy when it was $25 new in the bin at KB toys.
Ugh seriously me too. Jaguar, TG16, and all the others around that time too 🤦♂️
No, the best game on the console is widely recognized as Bound High.
Nintenja's are watching you.
👀👀👀
theres two diffrent types of emulators on 3ds
There are dozens of emulators on the 3DS for various consoles; Red Viper is the only fully functional Virtual Boy emulator with stereoscopic 3D support. It picked up where r3Ddragon left off (the first VB emulator that was basically unplayable).
Naw, the virtualboy was on oculus quest. That’s the best way to play it.
Ah i should try on my Quest
