Golden Mahseer was our pride in Himalayan region of Sikkim but hydro power dams ruined it all but still we get to see few this days....hope Mahseer legacy countinue.....safe the Mahseer
This video still brings tears to my eyes as I know the feeling of catching a big mahseer. Well done Stu, Bobby and the rest of this awesome team 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
"I am convinced that the . . . (catching) . . . of the fish of one's dreams in uncongenial surroundings would afford an angler as little pleasure as the winning of the Davis Cup would to a tennis player if the contest were staged in the Sahara." --Jim Corbett, in the chapter titled THE FISH OF MY DREAMS, from his famous book, "Man-Eaters of Kumaon." How lovely to see your video! It's in this chapter he describes his catching a 50 lb. mahseer.
I am delighted you saw, and responded, to my comment. May I ask if you had perhaps titled this UA-cam as a shout out, a nod, to Corbett's chapter in his book? Or, is your title without knowing of Corbett's book's chapter? In any event, I thank you! 🤝
@@StuWalkerFishingAdventures Bravissimo! Hai fatto un gran lavoro! Veramente!Brilliant! You did a great job! Truly! I don't know you but I am so very, very proud of you for living out, accomplishing your dreams. What you did was not easy, Stu. Most people dare only dream small dreams. They are afraid to dream big, as they fear disappointment. To them I say, "You're already disappointed. What have you got to lose?" And so, I was under as much tension as your line when you lost your first catch. I allowed myself enter into the spirit of your loss, your disappointment. But, you see, I know men like us, who would rather have tried for our big prize and lost, even if we ended up with nothing grand physically to show, even as the dreamers of little dreams never have anything grand to show, but who don't because they won't try grand dreams. It's the overcoming of our fears in the mind to try big things where greatness of man rests, not the physical, external evidence to prove to others how great we are! Our imaginations create our realities and that said, I noted your first inquiry on the leapord pug mark, a catch of tension in the voice. Particularly now, knowing you read Corbett's books, I all the more admire your quest, a part of your Personal Legend, for which, if you have read Coelho's "The Alchemist," you know what I mean. Accordingly, I was cheering you, another Santiago, if you will, at your epic's conclusion. Like Santiago, you got your gold treasure, in this case a Golden Mahseer! 👏👏👏

I'm really regret it. So if you ever given chance, just do it. Because you never know if it is your only one. Regards from Indonesia. T8 Lines
👌👌👌,,,,, after see this movie and dragon gold movie.,,I am booked for fishing I’n Himalaya.. last year.. unfortunately canceled everything ...Baez of COVID-19 then this year again i am booked for fishing trip,,, on oct 8 th 2021.☺️
I got 8 fish... two of fish was 30 LB and 40 LB.. and staying 6 days ......when I left..heavy water flooding and washout all camp ground 😢...which one got its record size in season
Inspiring film. I have watched this over and over again. Hope to follow in your footsteps one day. Keep up the good work and congratulations on a dream fulfilled.
Hopefully id be able to land one of these beauties on my next trip ... reminds me of the day a trout slammed on my spinner the very first time ... amazing cinematography there ... cheers !
@@StuWalkerFishingAdventures finally i caught one today ... Not as big as the one you caught here ... Around 13 pounds but finally i got my dream come true ! Cheers !
Congratulations Stu👏👏and i want to add not only leopard but also Tiger are also there in that area, thats the area and surrounding where famous tigress called "MAN EATER OF KUMAON" had killed over 536 people later on famous hunter mr Corbbet killed her there
Dear friend sorry for say your experience is very good but when the golden Masheer hook then you should know about that this fish is very fast and very powerful fish golden Masheer after hook 3 to 4 time run very fast after the running the loss the power and then easy to come out from the water and fish hunting is my also dream❤️❤️ your videos is very amazing 😍❤️❤️
It seems that you are more a fisherman then a true angler who takes fishing as a sport. Pity such a majestic fish was not released back into the river.
Immense video mate. Very enjoyable. I can only imagine the hard work it involved to reach that quality. Well done! I read somewhere among the comments you were using 65lbs braid and 30lbs leader. I guess that leader, relatively light in my opinion, is there to improve the discretion of the rig. But then why use 65 lbs braid? 40 or 30 lbs test would be alright and would help to improve the casting distance and accurancy. Anyway, I never caught a Mahseer but I have been lucky enough to fish for Mangar in Iran last year, fish of the same family. Incredible to see such huge barbel. Thanks for sharing your passion and keep on with the good work. Now time for me to finish my prep for a come back to Murchison Falls.
Glad you enjoyed the film. Yes, previously used lighter braided mainline 30lbs, but had a couple of breakoffs with violent takes in India and Zambia, just gives extra security. Amazing fish those Mangar. Good look at Murchison. Off to do a film in Colombia in 3 days :)
Stu, I too had tears rolling down my eyes when you finally caught that magnificent golden Mahseer. Trust me, I know the feeling. Big shout out to Bobby and Kanu too. You guys rock. I will be trying my luck over on the Nepalese border come this October on the mighty Karnali river. Wish me luck mate 👍
Awesome!! a genteel flow video unfolding the scenes of event by event along the scenic elongated stretch of the river...the print is exquisite, capturing the scenic himalayan landscape i would love to venture there once...what is thrilling to me is the screeching line taking reel at the last part of the catch! it give me gooosebumps and hair standing,.how one can imagine the explosive power of these magnificent torpedo, they are an epitome of freedom in wild nature...preservation is the word to such legendary fish, hope for more such videos, Stu request you to visit arunachal north east india for more such future videos,it can help in for conservation purpose...
Lost that fish because of a lure clip. Can't believe you were using them! NT Swivel and split ring is way more reliable. Great video though, really enjoyed it, nice work
Dont both with snap links now. Use strong Ball bearing swivel and strong split ring to lure. Went back a couple of years later and got a 62lb fish, made up for the lost fish :)
@@StuWalkerFishingAdventures Awesome! That's a lump!!! Yeah, clips ok for pike but that's about it, big and bulky, catch weed and unreliable. After all the effort we make changing lures with split ring pliers isn't a big ask! Be lucky and tight lines
I was kidding .mad respect for Mr. walker and his perseverance . I have myself fished for this fish in the same river and know how hard it is, my biggest one would be 20 pounds after 4 years :) .A friend of mine pulled a 30 pounder on his maiden mahseer trip. From what i have learned it is highly about timing as well.
