That attempt at a 2 - 9 combo in the first rack, I recognize that it's a challenging shot, Strickland misses it. I don't think he would have 20 years ago. Gorst took the same combo in the final 64 and made it look easy. The nine ball went right down the center of the corner pocket.

In 9 ball, years ago Earl was able to pocket balls on the break and run racks…he was a beast. With his current break, Earl can’t win at this level…the players are just too good. If you can’t pocket the 1 ball in the side you will lose. The game is kind of predictable. Who ever breaks best usually wins.
Its all his break right now only thing off but can't win without it yeah, man was really rooting for him ah well hope Shane wins it, or did I hear Corey the Corey is still in it and playing this year?

Earl is 63.. his vision and motor skills are bad now.. he just participates for the fans, and we should be thankful for that.
@@potpolima Nah…they may not be what the once were but he still plays at a very high level. The problem is the break. Even the commentator said the same at the beginning of the interview. Earl said he doesn’t try to pocket the 1 ball in the side pocket on the break. Without doing that you just can’t win 9 ball at this level.
Back in the day Earl would get away with moving the cue ball unnecessarily way way too much. Yes, when he was hitting on all cylinders it looked amazing but when it didn’t workout he would get himself into jams. If you look at Asis game it’s simple and uncomplicated, he only uses english when it’s absolutely necessary. Boring but effective. It would drive Earl crazy if he had to
play this robotic kind of pool.

Earl sucks he needs to hang it up already and go signed a commentator contract with some organization. I love his commentating he’s more entertaining on that field.
