No matter what renovation that has taken place it exudes class and will continue to do so with the proposed works

Wimbledon is in no danger of being left behind by Melbourne or New York. It may not be the biggest but it is the best. By the time this is all finished Wimbledon will have two courts with retractable roofs. Flushing Meadows doesn't even have one. What the All England Club lacks in size it more than makes up for in it's charm and as for moving, not a chance in hell. There would be outrage.

apnoakes AA stadium got a roof last year. Louis Armstrong Stadium is due one next year. So by 2018 USO will have two covered courts. That now leaves FO way behind.

AO redevelopment will be complete by 2023

      US Open renovation DONE!
Wimbledon master plan is delayed.... Now what?

At 8:08 you can really see the opportunity they have to expand Court 2 into a premier third court with eventual roof. I really hope they do this.

How about they buy the Golf Course across the road. It's a huge area and they could put in Car parks, Hotel, Indoor Tennis arena, more courts, Tennis academy, admin offices, Players accommodation, bars, restaurants, cafes, museum, fanzone, media centre, VIP areas.

The AEC bought the freehold of the golf course from Merton Council for a bargain £5.5million in 1993, but the lease lasts until 2041, and only then can plans be implemented to extend the tennis tournament on to the adjoining land. The 800 golf members have voted to play on for over two more decades, although one option considered was to negotiate an early exit with their super-rich tennis neighbours in return for a big fee and help in finding a new home.

One day I would LOVE to go to Wimbledon and watch the great tennis that I've been admiring since I was 8 year old watching it from my family's living room TV in person and finally experience that which has garnered by attention for so long. Hopefully in another lifetime I can go to Wimbledon as a professional and win this great championship. Just a young man's dream.

When is work going to begin on this project? I personally feel in this case that seat numbers and size does not matter. This is Wimbledon, nothing matches it and nothing never will. I love the English garden idea, there idea makes with what land they have extremely efficient to maximize the potential of the site.

I’m so sad this project is never happening😭 They are going with a bigger project which the tournament will be expanded on golf course to the side and I don’t think that is necessary. It’s just too much. Personally the original master plan was enough and just perfect!

It's perfect. Just do it. I can't wait to see it becomes reality.
I only suggest that the lawn south to the Court 12 should be a croquet court. After all, this is still a lawn tennis and croquet club.

Wimbledon badly needs to increase capacity at their courts and a roof over No 2 court. Australian Open will soon have 3 courts with a roof. Wimbledon shouldn't get left behind.

I respect the traditions of Wimbledon, but I think they really need to add lights in the event that matches go into the night on the outdoor courts. Also they should change the Centre Court to where they don’t have to close the roof just for the lights. Or is it a grass thing? Regardless, if a match is going to go into the night, then they shouldn’t have to suspend matches because of darkness, but still not need night matches.

The US Open will have 2 retractable roofs before there's a roof on Court One. Australia will have three in 2015. Both have much higher capacities than Wimbledon and there are even plans for the French Open to have a higher capacity for their third court than the capacity for the No 2 Court at Wimbledon. The All England club should aspire to be ahead of the curve not lagging behind it.

Ser Garlan Tyrell absolutely as no one gives a damn really about the other tournaments as they are significant but not special like Wimbledon as playing at the aeltc is like playing test cricket at Lords Cricket Ground. The sheer elegance speaks for itself and has traditional aspects which are admired and respected by the spectators, media and most importantly the players.

Wimbledon needs Court 2 and Court 3 to have 6,000 capacity each minimum. The All England Club is really being left behind by Melbourne Park and Flushing Meadows. If they can't expand the current area they need to move.
