Thanks Lou. Great video. Quick comments. The delays were NOT due to supply chain. Delays were because we had to finish the Guillotine and Hunchback projects first, followed by completing box art, instructions, and packaging. And yes, John sits well in the seat of the Jupiter 2. Yes, you need to drill those tiny holes due to limitations in the molding process. At this scale, we needed to simplify things like doors and treads. Please remember, this is a model, not a toy. I appreciate the wonderful masks. The final model looks GREAT!
Gee, I was just trying to give you some cover with the supply chain stuff. You had all of those other things to supply first, so what I said was true, from a certain point of view.
@@aztekdummy Oh, greedy I guess. It’s a wonderful little version!! Most excellent idea from Steve. (Doll & Hobby) I could use it in so many applications for dioramas.
A pleasure watching you work. The Aztec Way seems like the best way to get that job done. I got my kit just yesterday-- I must say, whoever is doing Doll & Hobby's graphic work does a very slick, good-looking job. Instructions too, not an easy task. Eames' box art is very evocative, good likenesses. Now, who is making the entire crew dressed in fur-lined parkas? Some seated, some standing... ? All seated would be fine.
This looks like a great kit of the Chariot. I think I'll be getting this. I do hope that someone makes an add-on of the rest of the family though. I'm envisioning a diorama of the premier episode where they're all inside crossing the sea. That would also give me a chance to try my hand at resin for the ocean. For the tiny silver strips missing from the top of the canopy, I think strips cut of aluminum tape would do the job. Not too thick, and wouldn't fog the windows.
Time for a trick from a model car guy! For transparent colors like orange/yellow/red/purple, paint that color in 2 stages. Take some of your final color and mix it with opaque white to make a light shade of your final color. Use that as your base "undercoat" color, then follow that with the regular color full strength color.
@@aztekdummy I always prime in gray as white primer doesn't cover color plastics, where the gray always will. Even with gray primer adding opaque white to your color will cover the gray and reduce the number of coats. You should be able to get full strength color in 2 coats. Createx opaque white seems to be compatible with any water based paint.
I want this kit to sit next to my Galileo II planet scape. But both models are scheduled for next year since I have nine kits ahead of them. I will like to buy the vinyl from you. 🖖🏼👍🏼
Whenever I saw them traveling in the chariot with the robot, I always wondered where they stored his legs. And how they managed to lift the robot's torso up and squeeze it into the chariot through one of the hatches. Of course they didn't pay much attention to size on the show. I distinctly remember one episode where everyone was on the lower deck when something needed their attention, Most of the characters went up on the elevator, but Smith and the robot were left behind, they're in front of the ladder and Smith tells the robot to get going, so the robot leans forward and grabs on of the rungs with his claw. The implication being that he was going to climb the ladder. The problem is that the opening between decks was nowhere near big enough for his torso to pass through.
First of all , a Big Thank You to Steve over at Cult TV Man for putting this kit out . I waited for over 7 years for Moebius to release the 1/35 scale Chariot, Space Pod and Robot kit , which they never did . Do you know if Steve has plans to do the Space Pod? BTW Beautiful job Lou , looking forward to your Masks .
Already reached out to Cultman. Get the masks to him Lou. I will be ordering 2 sets of your masks (better safe) plus the kit. Always a pleasure watching your videos. Seems I look forward to your videos coming out on Fridays. Keep em coming. Great work as always.
I couldn't find it but somewhere on this site is a vid of the original Chariot being restored. Not the replica. I read the story that a guy was on a ski lift somewhere out west (Lake Tahoe or something) and saw it from the air in the resorts maintenance area. Recognized it, bought it and restored it. I can't seem to find it again but it's a cool story.
Hi Lou, I love all your videos and appreciate the valuable info you put into them, can't say "thank you" enough..... If you have some time, could you please tell us the color you painted the tub of your Chariot? I watched the video a few times and I don't seem to hear it. I'm building two right now and I'm stuck until I paint mine. I'm doing some extras and would like to move my build forward, I'm so bad at that....😂 Thank you for your time....👋
I know this kit is a year ago, but I have the one with rubber tracks. I'm obviously, watching your video, February, 13 2024. I'm also going to build a diorama.. it's fun, I'm doing an painting, not orange strips like you did. M.
That looks great, Lou. Hell, I thought it looked good when you had the fine yellow masking on the outside! I saw that the Star Trek K7 space station is coming, and I have to believe there’s one coming to your stash. Maybe you’ll light yours? Hmmm, sounds like a plan.
Lou, Thanks again for sharing your skill and knowledge. I hate how silver paint removes itself with every touch. Would Bare Metal Foil work better for the external canopy framework? Or would Future seal the entire canopy?
Hey Lou… question. How well did the pieces fit? I just ordered and received the 1:24 scale model and the canopy came with the sidewalls severely bowed in. Fighting with it for near 40 minutes I conclude that when the time comes, it will be impossible to install. Total garbage. I am wondering how well the canopy fits on this one? Any gaps? Warps?
mine fit just fine. I'm sure they will replace it if you ask for a new one and show them a picture. If yours is warped, it may not be the only one and they would want to know.
you are my Friday night viewing. great video as always
Lou as usual another fantastic build!!! Your vids are always a treat! Thank you!!!
60s sci-fi vehicles look fantastic. Great job
Another great build! By the way Dr. Smith did indeed drive the chariot .The season 2 episode "Blast off into space" was one such occasion

@Lou Dalmaso I see the Obi-Wan quote you slipped in there.
Just ordered this w/Cultman! Hoping you have a Pod coming, and perhaps a separate 1/35th Robot? 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@kinleycalvert2915 there is a robot in the chariot kit. Why would you want a separate one?

Nice build, the clear canopy makes all the difference. I still want a 1/35 Space Pod as well though.
Lost in space my favourite tv snow 😊

Insane skill and patience. I admire both, but probably the patience for the minuscule and fiddly things more. Whew! Great stuff! 🖖🏼NANOO NANOO!

Nice work! I'm rewatching "Lost in Space" season 1 right now. The first season is still the best. And in high def, it looks amazing.
Love all your Lost in Space builds and of course Star Trek builds 😎👏👍🏼

looking forward to the Recognizer build!

they're on the way
Excellent build ad ever. Your Tauntaun build is in the latest Fine Scale Modeller, if you don't already know that is.
so ive been told. I need to find a copy
To get a decent orange, try a white Primer - works the same for red and yellow

Hi Lou, Are you planning on doing another build on this kit when Paul gets the Photoetch done ?
I hadn't thought of it, but I still would do a lighted version. Maybe I'll do a combo
Paul just listed the Pre Order for the set on his site .
How did you get consistent vinyl strips?
Lou, have you heard anything on Photo Etch from Paragrafix for this kit ?
i know it's in the works, but i got no other details
Are paint masks available? Or is that still in the works?
first order went out the door today! check for them to show up at Cult Tv man really soon
Does the model come with orange vinyl for inside canopy , or did you use your own??
that's my vinyl
