Growing up in Montréal your snack mix was known as “Nuts and bolts”. Made each Christmas by my aunt, and my mom. Now it’s my cousin who makes it. I still have the recipe but absolutely no self control 😳 so I won’t make it for us ! Never knew it could be frozen. Well maybe if someone puts a lock on the freezer.

For German pancakes, you can use a cast iron skillet and top with fresh berries and confectioner sugar and whipped cream. I dehydrated celery and turn it into powder and love it in chicken salad. Lately I have been making chicken patties and air frying them for 14 minutes, we love it!

I went to Lutheran school as a kid and I was lucky to have a small cafeteria with big long tables and we all just sat with our small classes. The hot food every day was INCREDIBLE - no one wanted to pack their lunch because the lunch ladies did such an awesome job coming up with food kids loved, like jello with fruit or hot chopped ham and cheese sandwiches. We could always bring a quarter up to the cashier and buy a bag of chips if we were still hungry after finishing our tray :)

That’s awesome! We only had “home cooked” hot lunch at our public school once a month and everyone would try to get their parents to let them have hot lunch that day. All the other days it was heated up frozen food.

When making cheese crisps I always do them on my silicone baking liners. We also make Kale chips as a good back to school snack. My mom is a teacher and I’m an instructional assistant, so quick and easy things we can have on hand at work are a must.

@@jodythomas1159 I don’t really have a recipe. I clean and dry the Kale really well. Then I roughly chop it, leaving pretty big pieces since it will shrink. I put it on a baking sheet, season with olive oil and everything but the bagel seasoning and bake until crispy. I usually line my baking sheet with both a silicone liner and a cookie rack. I find that they get crispier if they aren’t directly on the baking sheet.

I love hearing about how you can freeze stuff for later. But how do you thaw it? (without using a microwave, instant pot or crockpot) How is it "something quick"? Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but if I want to use something from the freezer I usually end up with something half-thawed, still containing ice crystals, that's a pain to work with. Could you maybe do a video on using stuff from your freezer?

We didn’t have hot lunch when I was in grade school, so we had to pack a lunch. But we did go to the church basement to eat, and also sat at long tables. It was a Catholic school. The moms took turns being the “lunchroom ladies”, to make sure no one got too rowdy, etc. On Friday you brought your quarter to school, and you got your 5 milk tokens for the next week. Our milk actually came in glass milk bottles. For 10 cents you could get chocolate milk instead of white milk. Our mom never let us get it. 😢 I also remember our sandwiches being wrapped in wax paper, and if we ran out of paper bags, often mom would put our lunch in a plastic bag from a loaf of bread. She always saved them to reuse. My favorite sandwich was homemade ground bologna, or a fried egg and bologna sandwich. A piece of fruit, and maybe a cookie rounded out lunch. This was in the late 1960’s.

I’m with Evonnie. I love rye chips!
My fav cookie is monster, snickerdoodle, oatmeal, chocolate chip, peanut butter and the kiss ones but with a Wilbur bud instead.
Lunchtime I grew up in a country school in our area. They closed down when I was going into 6th grade. But elementary school we sat at our desks to eat. They would bring a silver on wheels cart that had the food in there and we would take our tray and go back to our desks to eat.
Josh is getting so much more comfortable around the camera.
Also for your wooden cutting boards use mineral oil at cvs or something. Do Not coconut oil. This keeps your boards hydrated and longer lasting. Same with any wooden food tool. You want to keep anything that’s food type like the coconut oil away cause It’s a food item and can make your boards rancid.
Saw at Aldi that they had a jalapeño everything but the bagel seasoning. Not sure if in your area.
I agree with the cutting of grapes.

Hi Megan, I did not have these fancy lunches in school. My father died when I was 13 so my mum was working all day and my older brother and I had to care for ourselves (warming up leftovers or cooking lunch for us). Not blaming her at all, I'm so thankful for everything 😍 BUT my lunches or more breakfasts usually were slices of bread with Salami, cheese or sausage slices. Fruit and maybe slice of cake/muffin when we had something on Sundays. She prepared them for us, as we are both not the morning persons. If I didn't eat them in school, because the bread was not the freshest or the I just forgot it, I had to eat them at dinner where I added pickles or dipped in Ketchup to make it taste better. We usually had "Vesper" in the evening so bread, pickles, sausage, cheese, raw vegetables to snack etc. When I am having Kids, I hope to provide them a fancy lunchbox :) xoxo from Germany Stephanie

@@lonnekefalk2560 I use those mini pickles. I’m making 3 more batches tomorrow. One for my son, 1 for my granddaughter and one for me and my husband. I feel sorry for my daughter. She cans her’s which takes so long before you can eat them. She says her’s are better tasting. I don’ think so!

I used to make cookie dough and freeze it years ago when my 8 oldest kids were all home. So convenient! Only have my youngest (9th) at home now though and he's not a cookie eater lol. Those look sooo good (all of it does!)

Silicone mats are good for make cheese crunches. You can just make a full sheet and cut or break them into smaller pieces

    Hey hey.
I don't know why i can't share pictures, but i made a Megan's inspiration meal 🙂 pasta salade and cheese crisps. With french cheese. Cheddar's not easy to find un France.
The meal was a succes !!!!
I'm sometimes out of ideas for our meals.
    So thank you Megan 🙂
And i went to a Menonite church close to where I leave (Alsace, at the german and Swiz border). They were very friendly and welcoming. I'll go again as soon as I can (working on sundays so.... Let's see). 🙂

The Kids here in the UK usually break up for summer holidays mid July for 6 weeks and go back through 1st week of September.
All text books and excerise books are provided by the schools as are art supplies all schools wear a school uniform of some sort depending on the school!
    BTW it's pronounced 'Woostershere' 😁

I added a few different sized “ice cream scoopers” to my kitchen tools. I can make uniform giant, medium or small cookies. The process of making frozen cookie dough for the freezer is so much easer with these scoopers. My figures/hands don’t get covered in dough. I would imagine using them for “melted crispy cheese” snacks would be easier if a scooper was used.

Cookies look delicious. I went to school in south central PA, and my favorite memories are eating the pizza there and chocolate milk, and also my mom made my favorite Seltzer's sweet Lebanon bologna w white American cheese, mayo and crushed UTZ chips on top!😁💖 I couldn't find the beeswax food wraps link or in your Amazon store.

Those cheese crisps would be nice with soup to ad some texture. You can use a similar method and make ham crisps with serano ham I believe it is. It is delisious!
