Greetings from the Space Coast of Florida! You will love when the launches start. The beauty and power are mesmerizing. And the noise is minimal. Most people aren't aware, but Cape Canaveral is a very "natural" environment, with unique mangroves, varied wildlife, including wild hogs, American alligators and a huge variety of tropical birds. It's gorgeous and the rocket industry doesn't ruin anything about the environment. It sounds like the crew out there are building with an eye for sustainability, minimal footprint and overall interest in studying and protecting the environment. All good things. Plus, watching rockets launch is COOL!!!! We can seriously see then from our back yard (garden)!
That is info l didnt know, and I'm glad to hear it, very interesting. The trouble is for those of us who know Sutherland and the precious peat bog, it's a worry however much they try to convince us that it's all environmentally safe,
What a fascinating vlog Colin, thankyou so much. You present the facts so clearly and your excitement is infectious! Slightly disappointed no mention of tongues and rockets shooting off, lovely to see you both. You make my day! Lotsa love xxxx
What a fantastic video and topic. I have been mad on Space ever since I saw all the Apollo Missions on TV as a boy in Black and White. The Moon Walk I saw on Colour TV at a B & B in Newton Stewart on our holiday. We went up the West Coast to the top and back down the down the East Coast. That's when we took in Loch Ness. I always thought we would see a load more as I got older but it was not to be. This is great news and I hope I live long enough to see it all. Keep well and safe. James
Quite interesting, filled with facts and hope, thank you, Colin. The best part for me was Shaun’s portrayal of watching the rocket launch, that was fantastic! Bye for now!
Wow Colin! That was...on another level, Amazing that you happen to be on the doorstep of the future launchpad but it breaks both ways for they have been indeed lucky to find you there.
How exciting! I bet you can't wait to see a launch. It sounds like they are very environmentaly conscious so the bog will be protected. Should be good for tourism, too. 💖💖💖
Very cool! Of course, local traffic and noise during construction will be somewhat elevated, especially with materials deliveries, and the labor force needed to construct everything. Then, there will be noise from static firings testing engines before the actual launches, etc. But my guess is that after the first year of operations, the locals won't even pay attention to it anymore. As long as they work on protecting the environment, it definitely will be a plus for the locality :)
Colin enjoyed your vlog will be interesting to see it all come together but can understand how the locals feel hopefully dosen't effect them and the land, was worried when Shaun wasn't standing next to you thought he was unwell but happy he appeared before the end of the vlog 🙂👍🏴
Sounds like a good thing! Of course, we need Cape Canaveral too. Maybe some day they will do a duel launch! At any rate, I look forward to hearing Colin yell, ‘SPAAAAACE’.
That was really interesting, thank-you! I think it is high time that someone in a position of authority in the Scottish parliament bought up 1000 (or more) UA-cam or Patreon memberships so that you can keep up your work. I was in Scotland 25 years ago and you've made me think that it's time for another visit, to see all that I missed - and to spend more time in the Highlands - maybe with my son or daughter. Your joy at being in Scotland shines in your work. I love your curiousity, because the "What's that?" (points off in the distance and wants to go look) attitude is what I do, and it drives others crazy. :)
Colin your enthusiasm just bubbles - well done you. That must be a first for you a vlog about space, very informative. Good job we saw Shaun at the end with his laughter or I would have felt deprived ha ha!!!!🤣
Were you worried about the spongy peat giving way? That's an interesting concept! It really gets the curiosity into high gear. Employment opportunities are always good. After experiencing how some smaller towns in the States are "managed". I immediately wonder if the infrastructure can handle the potential increase in residents, workers and additional tourists. I also wonder if the long time residents will get priced out of the area. Hoping it all goes well for everyone! If I were there, I'd be excited (and have questions) too!
Yes, those were my concerns as well. It does sound exciting though and I wish the two companies success. BTW, I'm happy to see that Colin looks very excited about the space project.
NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Florida was built in a swamp. It all sounds super-high tech. I live about 20 miles from KSC. What is launched from KSC is much bigger than what will be launched from Scotland. I am excited for UK. You all will have a super-fast train to the midlands and now a launch facility for communications satellites. How blasted wonderful is that! (Expletive deleted!) 😃 good engineering!!! Super awesome! I am super impressed. I'd love to come see it! Thank you, Colin, for letting us know about this. So proud!!! 🚀
As a "did you also know" to this very informative video, more space satellites are designed and manufactured in Glasgow than in any other city in Europe. It therefore also makes sense to launch them from as nearby as possible.
How exciting! I look forward to more of your excellent reporting about it! This is why your channel is so fantastic- I never know what you’ll be talking about. Have a great week.
Fabulous vlogg this week enjoyed that immensely thank you. I know it was good as wanted to see more. Great graphic design you put in there of the planned hub. We're gonna be seeing some great footage in the future of rocket launches all twelve I bet lol. Great to see you getting about again and reviewing such great and interesting features. Continue as you are it is great all the best that kayaker from a place called Brinklow. Yer that guy lol.
I was born and lived in Huntsville Alabama where the United States space program was born. I also lived 20 miles outside of Huntsville, and I could hear the Saturn 5 engines being tested at Redstone! Very exciting time!! Come visit our space museum!!! You can see the site of the very first rocket launch!!!!
Well done, your style of sharing the surroundings combined with an informative narrative are always enjoyable. Beautiful raw land on that peninsula. I don't believe there will be much effect on the area from the spaceport. It looks like a small footprint and with one launch a month on average it shouldn't be to bothersome. I am sure the people working there will bring commerce to the two villages that will help and be appreciated. Thanks for another well done vlog.
@@FoxesAfloat been following you guys for a while. I have enjoyed all of your videos and found even the ones about your personal struggles to be informative and useful.
This is very exciting news. I can imagine the locals will benefit greatly by the space hub being situated there. The tourism alone should create a lucrative economy.
Just catching up on vlogs.....we have experienced space launches at Cape Canaveral in Florida and each time it is more exciting as we anticipate the deep earth rumble as it goes down the beach. Watching the rocket's trail is also heart-throbbing!!!!! You are right to be so excited!!!!🤗🌹🙋🌈
Goodness had to pause the vlog! Your wonderful presenting skills I felt like time had turned back and I was watching Tomorrows World ! Off to watch the rest 💕
Great Vlog, you guys have certainly landed in the right place for all the excitement, it will be great to see the first rocket launch, and then be able to nip back home for tea and cakes.
Thank you - wonderful explanation for an exciting endeavor for the worlds future. ALSO, just received my package with that exciting "customs" stamp on it!! My beautiful calendar arrived in Madison, WI yesterday!! Well done!!! Thank you!
That is very exciting news! I look forward to seeing more about the developments there. As for Cape Canaveral, it's right on my doorstep. I have watched many launches of the Space Shuttle, Delta rockets, and SpaceX from my front porch.
NASA has a launch facility at Wallops Island in Virginia that launches atmospheric sounding rocket, and resupply missions to the International Space Station. Launches can be seen from the park at the south end of Chincoteague Island.
The what 3 words are sort of appropriate to the plans. That’s going to be amazing, can’t wait to see the first rocket. There is a spaceport built about a three hour drive from us though the plans slowed down with Covid, they are now back on track. 🙋🏼♀️ They should have paid you for this video, you did an excellent job on it. 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing this video, I enjoyed watching you how excited you were. It should be fun watching the rockets launch. 🚀 Thanks for video take care and God bless.
So happy for you two best move ...one day we will bump into each uther as I'm live just outside wick .but I do van life all over Scotland for work .essex boy liveing in caithness sounds live a song from the police lol take care you two ✌ and god bless jay ..jeeeeeeeeeeeep lol
Great reporting. Wow a spaceport near you. I like the description of the mission of the rockets. Kind of points to positive investigations and a real interest in climate change
Cool. So it the UK Rocket Lab in size of rocket then (will two less engines and run on bit different fuel). Hope the have live feed and clear sky's for there first launch. Still love Rocket Lab launch when you see first the Mahia peninsula then more and more of New Zealand. This you should see first Mhoine peninsula then more and more of Scotland then more and more of the UK and other land masses.
Your presenting Colin is out of this world, will never understand why you doubt your own ability, you a natural. I'm sure there would be a job there for you if you wanted it, not that we would want you to take it. 👍😁🛰

Wow, this is amazing stuff - I love the eco-credentials of the proposals. Your drone shots were great too!
Thanks so much!
Great video as usual! Quite envious that you’re close enough to see launches without having to plan months or years in advance.
So close!
Wow Colin! That was...on another level, Amazing that you happen to be on the doorstep of the future launchpad but it breaks both ways for they have been indeed lucky to find you there.

Your an excellent presenter Colin. Exciting times ahead. Take care both.

Very cool! I might have to re-route the British part of my round the world bicycle trip just to go by here!
Brilliant, see you again tomorrow. 💕🐾Chris & Mary. Xxx

How awesome for Scotland, the region, and for you guys to be so close to it . I’m a bit jelly. 😂💜🙋♀️
I have been privileged to watch a rocket launch live in Florida and was awwwwsome so huge thumbs up on the rocket launch build by you two xxx
The project sounds really interesting, if they can keep the environmental impact low. It makes sense that the location North for the orbits.
Very informative vlog Colin. Looking forward to seeing more about it in future. Cheers🚀
That was certainly interesting!!!! One hope they do stick to meeting all their environmental promises.
WOW GREEN Rocket fuel. GO GREEN SCOTLAND. Houston, we have solution. Said the Houstonian who would LOVE to retire in Scotland.
