My first visit to palolem beach was 1993 I was lucky to be able to stay in Goa for 3 years leaving to renew visa every 6 months, my place I stayed at was Colva beach, Palolem had no shop, bars, restaurants, and definitely no hotels, I remember the arch as you enter the beach, there was only 1bar shack restaurant, it was truly paradise, returned in 1999 it had all changed shops, beach bars, restaurants, hotels it was not paradise any more, and now it looks even more touristy and commercial. I suppose thats progress. Would I go back? yes South Goa is heaven.
Sadly you missed the actual vibe of the place. Monsoon season drags on till late September, mid October in this region making the water brackish, sand wet and brown. Nov-Jan is the best time to visit goa. All shacks and facilities are operational, sea is much calmer, water is cleaner, sand is dry and white above the tide line, has a soft fluffy feel. Weather is perfect for venturing outdoors and for a swim!
You can try the Goan cuisine while you are there. Its mainly fish & pork dishes, with Portuguese influence & Indian spices. Sorpotel, Churizo (sausages), Feijoada, Recheado Fish are some of the main ones.
Once you enter Palolem beach, the best places to swim or chill are mostly on either ends rather than the center. If you want crowd and a vibe that's always early morning and at Sunsets, rest of the time heat means stay in or at the shacks!
You should definitely visit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India. They're a must-see destination in the country. If you want a beautiful and peaceful island experience in India, these islands are perfect. They have fantastic beaches like Radhanagar Beach, Elephant Beach, Kalapathar Beach, Laxmanpur Beach, Merk Bay Beach, Karmatang Beach, Ross and Smith Island Beach, and VIJAYNAGAR BEACH. Radhanagar Beach is especially famous and is considered one of the top ten beaches in Asia. There are many other must-visit islands in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, including Havelock Island, Neil Island, Ross and Smith Island, Jolly Buoy Island, North Bay Island, Baratang Island, Cinque Island, Red Skin Island, Ross Island, Inglis Island, Little Andaman Island, and Parrot Island. Traveling and finding a place to stay there is easy, and it's less crowded and less polluted compared to mainland India. It's generally safe for tourists, and you can take direct flights to get there. Just remember, if you're a foreigner, you'll need to buy a mobile SIM card in mainland India because you can't get one in the Andaman Islands. Overall, these islands are one of the most beautiful places in India, and you should definitely visit them when you're in the country.
greetings from Margao. I see that you chose the wrong part of Palolem Beach to have a good time. If you went further down to the left, beyond the rocks, and the mermaid perched on one of them, you would have a gala time. Pretty much isolated and very scenic ...where cattle cannot climb, nor even cats are found. I have done my photoshoots there. As for Butterfly Beach, the charm is the enjoyment you get at reaching the destination. You can ask this avid Himalayan exploratory expedition trekker, who has also chased Goa's own non touristy waterfalls in the monsoons. And Cola beach, the offroading is far more challenging. I went there by car too. but the end result is worthwhile.
Drink lot of tender coconut water. It’s good source for energy. And they are natural and good.Avoid eating anything cold.Only eat hot food in India, because your belly is not suitable for Indian water.
Great to see the pile of rubbish that was on Butterfly beach has now gone, and they have a wheelie bin tourists can use. I'm visiting Palolem again in November. Love it.
HAVE YOU TRIED " FENNY " WINE MADE OF CASHEWNUT ,A VERY FAMOUS WINE OF GOA..... CASHEWNUT HEAVILY PRODUCED IN GOA....FENNY IS MORE ECONOMICAL BUT VERY GOOD 👍
We have international driving licenses (from the post office) and took CBT training in the UK to be covered for insurance. They didn’t ask for proof in India but I’m sure if you got stopped you’d need to show some documentation. Hope that helps 👍🏼
in India please avoid a city called Delhi. it is known as most polluted populated scammy unsafe loudest unfriendliest place in India. the city also has most unhealthy food in the country. it is called Delhi Belly for a reason as if you are not used to these food they will cause trouble.
