The jabs in the Super Cub video, while immediately entertaining and funny, were a bit of a downer for me, after some consideration. I'm glad you responded to it in this video. I hope this helps put it all in the rear view. This EDF looks amazing in the air, on the ground, on the shelf- friggin everywhere. Unless it's being flown by inexperienced hands. Then, it looks comically tragic 😂 It seems like a "Love it and master it" or "Meh it and Hate it" plane to me. Looks pretty damn awesome on your sticks, Jon! Great video. Thanks for sharing the experience with us 👍
Other great video Jon!!! Very professional and good on you for apologizing and not being that guy!! I have both the thunderbirds and gray edition 80 mm and love them as much as you do. Keep up the great content it is very informative and nice to learn from someone else’s prospective!!
Awesome comparison between Eflite and freewing versions. Thank you for the video. I agreed with you about RCSalyors on the poor flying. The call out seems to have worked, they are flying better now on videos, a noticeable difference. Thank you for apologizing to them, I hope they say a blurb about you in upcoming videos. We are all trying to grow the hobby! Keep up the great content.
Just flew my eflite T-bird yesterday. Absolute fun. Always gets positive comments each time i fly. You are correct on all points. Hopefully eflite keeps it around and if they don't FMS does.
I just ordered the 80mm. I was gonna go with the 70mm, however i wanted the full flying stabs. Also the thunderbirds is my favorite paint scheme. Great info. TY
Hey Jon! Thanks for clearing the air with RC Saylors. Glad you chose to take the high road speaks a lot to your character. Also great flying as always! Love the content.
I Totally agree like Jon said as long as you have good enthusiasum for our hobby and are a big supporter for it by bringing what ever content you can its all a positive thing and everybody does things their own unique way. Kuddo,s to Jon for maning up and admit he went over the line a little.
First off Jon...I'm proud of you bro. THAT is how we're supposed to roll. Nate and Abby seem like good folks. On the F-16, still my favorite scale jet! LOVE it. Great job man!
Thanks Adam! It's unfortunate that this specific F-16 doesn't get the appreciation and love it should be getting for how well-made it is and how capable it is in the sky. It's up there in terms of one of the best jets Horizon has ever produced.
Yup for sure love mine, fly it a ton, but did finally have to replace nose gear from it slamming down on many high alfa landings. Finally I but low bounce wheel on nose to damper that
0:05 The Su-30 was their first jet to come out with full flying stabilators and their first venture into the current standard of scale edf foamies, not the 80mm f16.
Its funny how life works. Ive been looking at the freewing 90mm and thinking about getting the ARF with the Viper 90mm esc and edf system. Would you say thats a bad way to go for all around speed and full functionality of high alpha.. ? Appreciate your modesty and humility when it comes to life and your channel. On a side note, i can say i used to watch the saylors, however... i no longer need to be sold with entertainment and argumentative UA-cam channels. Your channel offers an opinion and it also values the opportunity to equally disagree without conflict. I can not say that is true regarding the sailors.. they will die on a hill to argue with anyone on their channel over truly nothing of value. Great video, jon.. Appreciate your value to the hobby 😊
Tossing FMS fans into Freewing jets is doable, it just takes a lot of foam shaving and adjustment to make them fit. Be prepared for some obnoxious amounts of effort to do it, but it is doable if you want to go that route. Thanks so much for the compliment!
We don't really consider the F/A-18 to have full flying stabs given how limited their travel was. While you're technically correct, in reality they barely moved and would not allow you to emulate how the full scale jet flies.
Hey two bros, have you tried "spoilerons" on this plane? I got into RC thanks to a certain park-jet designer called Dave Powers, and I remember he positively talked about high alpha with spoilerons. Though it may not translate into heavier jets, I wonder how does it affect the low speed handling.
Hi Jon, awesome videos. In the description I see links to two servos. I guess my question is I want to upgrade every servo in my F-16 thunderbird 80mm what exact servos, in what locations on the plane do you recommend? Thanks in advance!
The only servos that need upgrading to fly like ours (cobras, etc) are the two stabilator servos, which should be upgraded to bit.ly/B13DLM. You could upgrade the rest of the airframe to the same servos, but the stock servos are more than adequate in the rudder and flaperons for almost every kind of flying out there.
Hey Jon, I was looking at getting the 90MM version (Freewing) but it's been discontinued. . But I am curious what material is the landing struts made of? Aluminum?? or Plastic? If I recall the Freewing struts were aluminum. So these struts on the E-flite could be just painted white but still Aluminum??
In the intro, you stated that this F-16 was the first E-Flite Jet to have full flying stabilators. Actually, the 80mm F-4 Phantom was the first E-Flite Jet to have them. There was no way to make them have roll control because they were both mechanically connected to a single servo. Also, the 80mm F-18 (Grey or Blue) had full flying stabilators, although the connection point did have a g limit and could pull the nub out of the control horn if overstressed. And also, the twin 70mm Su-30 had the full flying stabilators too. I’m pretty sure that you were referring to the Thunderbirds F-16 being capable of setting up the differential stabilator option, so I just wanted to clear up any confusion that some viewers who had any of the aforementioned products might have.
@@TwoBrosRC It’s all good! You give so much great information here as it is so a mistake on a minor piece of trivia is no big deal. Keep up the great content! Watching this video inspired me to take mine beyond my current comfort zone today, so I thank you for that!
It's about time someone took the responsibility to apologize for bashing other channels! All channels preach about how not to judge other pilots you may encounter encounter in the hobby but yet that's all I see between all the channels and its really discouraging. Thank you for practicing what you preach.
I'll be that guy... the RC Saylors are a joke. Anyhow, great video again Jon! I have considered the Thunderbird a few times, I am just not sure still. Every time I buy something that fast I drop a wing and crash...
@@TwoBrosRC Thanks for the tip, any suggestion on a bird to do that with? I think in the past on Discord you once suggested a Viper 70mm to me after I crashed my p 39 from the same problem, but do you have any other suggestions? I already had one of those and did the same thing LOL
Will you please ask AGFRC if they would carry the B53DHN in their Amazon store? The 20kg are alot faster than the 24. I've asked but they seem to ignore peasants
A jet of any kind is not for beginners, get an aeroscout and then another prop plane like a timber, once you have the main skills down I would go for a Habu.
The viper jet 15 anniversary is a good transition. Once you have some stick time under your belt and have flown trainer aircraft. For beginners you should start with a Trekker or Fms Ranger both great platforms.
I really hope they bring back the gray 80mm it’s been on back order forever and parts are very scarce as you said, I hope it doesn’t get discontinued. They also have parts for it at rc castle/ Fms version /eflite. FYI. And nobody seems to have the answer if the gray edition will be back some say no , but why would the website say it was back ordered because if they weren’t gonna bring it back, it would be discontinued on Horizon Hobby website. Frustrating. And some say the Thunderbirds took its spot that’s I say hogwash. Lol if you have any information if it will be released again please let me know!! Safe flying 😊✌🏻
Let one hope that your statement is true because with my horizon hobby points I was able to secure a backorder gray edition for 500 bucks versus the 641 normally out the door!!😊

We've got this jet set up for that mix, but it doesn't seem to do much - or perhaps we just need to experiment with it more.

The struts on both jets are aluminum. The EF variant is painted metal, the FW variant is bare metal.
