I have flown the same way with my bike. I use 1/4” corrugated plastic sheets, like folks use for cheap signage. Wrapping the bike in an old yoga mat. I remove the quick release, and reinstall with a pedal wrench I bring along. It just bugs me to have the QR sticking out. The two bag system works fine, but I would love some wheels on the bottom. Mini skateboard? My B75 with helmet, tools, lights, and all is 35 lbs. Cheers from Chicago.
Very interesting bike and excellent piece of engineering.
Great video👍👍
Shanghai!? Oh... sounds perfect for new years day riding❤
"All mighty IKEA bags".... haha. Loved that phrase. Guess they're pretty mighty afterall. Ride safe. :)
There is always a little bit of stress/apprehension when unpacking those Dimpa bags after a flight, isn’t it?
So far, so good!
It is 😂 Thankfully, we don't care for scratches. Are you guys actually on tour somewhere or at home? We love your videos, you do such a great job! We watched your Korea video at least a thousand times while we cycled there ourselves 😂

@@thebrommuters6220 Just back from 2 weeks in Florida (escaping Canada’s winter). We are in the planning stage for the next trip (Eurovelo 2 or 12). Jeju Island is a possibility later this year (we need more stamps in our Korean Cycling Passport 😀)
You guys keep a busy schedule, that's for sure 💪💪 We cannot wait to go back to Korea as well ☺️
But for the chicken, not for the stamp's 😂😂
But this year we already have 3 international trips planned, and the stupid cats still haven't learned to feed themselves over the weekends, so that's busy enough 😅😅
Btw: why don't you post anymore on Instagram?
@@thebrommuters6220 Will try to post more often (just added one from our trip in Florida now)
Euch einen schönen Urlaub
Klasse 💯😀👍🎉😊
Why did you have to remove the seat post when packing it?
@@teachingtested its the longer seatpost and doesn't fit into the Dimpa or the B&W Case. Sarah has the regular one. No need to remove that.
This showed up in my recommended feed, the thumbnail really caught my attention, I thought Brompton had a limited release or something haha
May I know where you got the floral decal from?
The shitty Brompton pump.
03:02 Please can you explain what saddle clamp you’re using and does it provide suspension to a standard saddle?
I use a Brooks B17 Flyer Select on my H6R.
Yes it does! That is the Airseat Suspension wich is mounted to the original pentaclip or aftermarket solution
so you recommend this method? just add cardboard box around the side? This is a great way to travel cuz then everything packs nicely, but you need to still carry around the cardboard.
That's right, it worked fine for us.we used cardboard and foam material. But we would even more recommend the method of our friend "Forty Plus": just simply pad it with some clothes for even lighter traveling and flexibility. Let's be honest: if you ride a Brompton long distance and worldwide, there are LOADS of other things to worry about than some potential scratches and minor damages from getting it loaded in and out an airplane.
@@thebrommuters6220 thx. I was thinking about getting a brompton for bikepacking for long distances, but not sure how it holds up. How the comfort when riding for long distances, and on non smooth terran? Since theres no real suspension, do you feel everything and get discomfort after a while? Should i look for something else like a standard bike? Not sure which bike to get! Hope you can share your experience thanks.
@@funguy2627 Short answer: No, buy a Tern. Cheaper, faster, packs smaller with minimal disassembling and uses standard parts wich are available everywhere. The only advantage of the Brompton is that nobody in Hotels complains when you take it with you in your room.
Glad they made it safe! Did you gate check them, or check them as regular luggage?
Yes, as regular luggage. The Dimpa matches the airline regulations perfectly, and even those got stuck on the luggage band in Frankfurt Airport. 🤢
