I keep saying this, but if Scarlet and Violet had a bit more time in the oven, it would be the best mainline Pokemon game, or at least in the running. The exploration, music, difficulty, art direction, graphics, story, writing and that amazing finale are already there, but some more time to buff out the game's rough edges would've made something even Pokémon's biggest detractors wouldn't find fault in. Look what happened to PLA with enough Dev time. As it stands, SV is a 7.5, unrefined masterpiece, and I can't wait to see if the DLC gives it a higher score like Sword and Shield's!
Edit: My only real problem with the game was a feeling that the map felt a bit too empty, as well as the removal of NPC houses. These things gave the world depth even in more controversial games like SwSh.
I didn't mention the NPC houses because I got used to it, I think. It is a major downgrade for sure and likely a reflection of the "not enough time in the oven" thing you said!
@@notsoAceTrainer Frl, I remember seeing concept art for NPC houses for the Crown Tundra DLC, so I think the only reason they took them out was to save on time lol
7.5 is because reviewers are blinded because it is Pokemon. If any other developer would make this game that wouldnt have scored a 7.5
@@Rayan01012 The game is actually pretty good, the only reason to score it lower is the glitches on launch. At worse it's a 6, but even that's unfair considering how it improved on SwSh in every way.
Plus, I should mention, 7.5 is my own personal score for the game. It would've been an 8 if the problems I had listed were removed. Even Sword and Shield is a 7 to me cuz I had alot of fun with those games.

Like in the video is you look past that or.look.past this. Any other game nobody would look past it.

I really like the kieran story I like how he was this shy little kid turned into a bully, it was very refreshing seeing different type of rival
Love how they built the story through both DLC instead of keeping it in just 1!
Honestly I didn't have nearly any of the performances issues so many people complained about. Not saying I didn't have any, but for me it was mostly just the models looking fuzzy for a few seconds.
Now since we all believe Black and White remakes are next, my hope is we get more of a game like SV and less like BDSP. If they don't go open world, SwSH route layout with the zoomed out camera and new models will be fine. But I am hoping to see Unova with all its routes, but also new areas connecting the different areas on the map together. Like give me the option to go through an expanded pinwheel forest, but also add a new zone to connect route 3 to route 14.
I think we might see a Unova sequel and not a remake... the game is very "hey, look, time passed from when you last were in Unova".
With that said, I was a bit "out", during BW days, so any way they present it to me will likely be more enjoyable than it was back in the day!
@notsoAceTrainer I love revisiting old regions, I am just getting tired of replaying the same game. Like the next time we visit Kanto, I want the trainer to be from Saffron Cit. Oak visit, get your Pokémon and you can go fight Erika, Misty or Lt. Surge or check put Lavender Town. Throw in level scaling and then you got a fun brand new adventure.
Absolutely! I completely agree with you. Playing Pokemon Scarlet was an amazing experience, and I tried to replay Pokemon Let's Go Evee and Shining Pearl afterwards, but it just doesn't compare. The battles are painfully slow, and it's just not as thrilling.
I'm saying! SV feels like a region spanning adventure, and it still holds up to me after playing TotK!
I completely get that! It's a beautiful game that, not surprisingly, suffered from other issues that hindered the public opinion...
I’m so happy I played Let’s Go Eevee first. It was a great game to come back to the franchise after 20 years. But I recently beat violet and it was such a good game! I will definitely play Scarlett on the new system that’s released-to play without glitches and frame drops.
I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. An unrefined masterpiece.

Thats pretty much what I felt playing this games... a great main story, two cool dlcs which added more content to the main game and a pretty underwhelming end to it all with Terapagos... but overall I had a blast playing my Pokémon Violet, it was my favorite experience since XY and renewd my love for Pokémon that I thought I lost after I hated SwSh, which I only finished to complete my living dex, otherwise I would've droped it after Spikemuth... Luckly I didn't have a lot of performance issues like a lot of people did, my game never crashed once and the frame rate didn't drop as much on casseroya lake or tagtree thicket like I saw online, however the Savanna biome when I'm near water is mostly unplayable for some reason I cannon go near water or go across or the frames start droping for some reason...
I wish it had more content, tho, like a PWT or PokéAthlon, and more dungeons to explore, I really miss those things, also I wanted the catching and evolution mechanics from Legends Arceus, but it is what it is... I loved this games, to me are the best Pokémon Adventure Game on the Switch.
The Savanna biome can get really bad, yeah! Maybe one day we'll see something that focuses this much on the narrative (for the most part) but actually performing better. And yeah, I think Post game is a bit lacking now that we have DLC...
I personally loved this game. First time I ever completed a dex and got a shiny badge.
It really is a fun one and the exploration + Pokédex completing is on point!
if it was not buggy/low frame/bad graphics, didn't introduce a new gemic (terastilize) (personally the weakest new gemic besides speed form and strength form from arceus) and had Pokémon designs I actually liked starters/Legendary/metical's then I probably would have bought it. there are only a few designs I like that are not the primal or future forms of pre existing Pokémon, I really hope the next game is better in all these category's
We all have different opinions! I actually wouldn't mind if they continue the same approach but with a fixed technical side - the game has a fantastic story and characters!
I think the lack of level scaling is good you don't remember steamrolling a gym but you remember when you lose get mulched by an opponent 50 levels higher. The lack of level scaling can create meaningful stories and locations that you otherwise wouldn't have.
I think it would be better if you remembered something actually challenging - not an impossible battle. There's a reason things like Whitney's Miltank are still being talked about to this day! Or Lenora's strategy!
@notsoAceTrainer to be fair scarlet and violet are rather memorable with challenging battles and a memorable story
As flawed as this gem was, I still had fun with this generation. Sure some things could have definitely been different like fixing Pawmi’s evolutions to the forced N64 nostalgia like the graphics but overall Paldea was a cool region! If Generation 10 and beyond get to have extra development time and are hybrids of Legends Arceus and Scarlet and Violet then it would be amazing! ❤️💜
One thing you said is basically what I have in mind - they released 2 games that had really good things (ScaVi and PLA) and I hope the find the best way to showcase them in the next one!

If you mean the title, that's just the statement and the arguments are in the video 😅 But yeah, you can make that statement about anything, since the perception of something is mostly subjective. This video,arguments and statement is my perception of Scarlet and Violet and the DLC! How did you feel about it overall?
Honestly the only thing that bothered me with scarlet/violet was the lack of character customization. SW&SH spoiled me with the character customization. Hopefully they take story and lore from S&V, Character customization from SW&SH, and combat freedom from Legends Arceus.
True, while we got a few more in the DLC, it pales in comparison to SwSh and even PLA!

Didn't expect the DBZ lore being dropped, but there's a reason for it! ScaVi did a whole lot right, while suffering from issues that do not prevent you from enjoying the game, but do hinder how you see it.
@@notsoAceTrainer I just love the Abridged series that I’ve gotta find a way to weasel it in to everything somehow… (to give you an idea of how much DBZ consumes my life I literally have an AU of Serena’s Braixen where he consistently thinks DBZA references… and even tries replicating DBZ… and Abridged… (and yes he… nobody knew it until later though))
I did enjoy SV, it may be one of my top 3 pokemon games. Sadly, most people will remember this game because of the bugs and the unpolished state in which it was released. I think that Nintendo should give GameFreak a 2 year cycle o even 3 for development to avoid this kind of issues. Also, great vid and I agree with your take, hopefully we get an amazing game this year with an overarching story with PLA and SV.
Thank you! The thing is, they do have around a 3 year dev cycle, their release cycle is the one that is incredibly rushed (1 a year). They need more than that...

True, but that isn't something you actually need to move through the story like the Badges and the "HMs" for example!

Is SV worth 90$?
It depends on your own experience... considering the amount of hours I played + the amount of hours I can still play (haven't caught the legendaries or shiny hunted everything I need), it was worth the 95* for me! Not to mention how cool the characters and story were! Different people will have different views, though - this one was mine!
Finally someone says it it had its flaws but it was better than swords and shield
It depends on what you're looking for. I preferred it to SwSh, but I enjoyed Gen8 as well. Not as much as Gen9, though!

Sadly, this diamond's time has passed! Or not, maybe we see a performance patch on a new console. I doubt it though!
So it was just me who really did not care for this game? Idk why I just think it was quite the disappointment still entertaining but could have been so much more I didn’t even bother getting the dlc
It wasn't just you, but it's fair to say that even with the issues the vast majority was fine with/enjoyed the game. Of course it wasn't for everybody though!
If you ever feel like having a new adventure, I do recommend the dlc - cool areas and cool characters. The plot does rush by the end though!
I bet they'll annouce TeraScarlet & TeraViolet for Switch 2.
I have a video on a potential sequel coming... just daydreaming, of course. But the games could easily have one with how many mysteries stayed open!

I think Paradox Scarlet and Paradox Violet would be better titles.

scarlet and violet sun and moon are the only main game titles I skipped, didnt like most pokemon designs or the gemics mechanics, mega evolution was the coolest
Scarlet and Violet are not perfect and nowhere near masterpieces. However SV is better than that crap Legends Arceus. Personally, I think the games that are almost perfect was Pokemon Black and White. I don't think Pokemon needed to be open world games. Not every game needs to copy off of other open world games like Zelda. I agree the Area Zero part felt short. Scarlet and Violet are decent games. But they are held back by the technical issues.

It all depends on your preferences really! For example, BW/B2W2 were the Pokémon games that felt the "least Pokémon" to me, hence why they're the ones that I like the least! We all have different experiences! Also, I don't know if you've played BotW or TotK but Pokémon's approach to Open World is nothing like the Zelda games. It's more limited, and while it does feel open, I'd say it feels "less" open than them!
