Lazer Tag toy commercial most likely from 1987. Features skateboarding in a bowled arena, battling with jockoids on ATVs. More skateboarding in popular culture at skateandannoy.com
The actor playing the "rookie" is none other than Noah Hathaway who was known for playing Boxey on the original Battlestar Galactica as well as Atreyu in The Neverending Story.
My dad tried out for this commercial in the 80s as one of the motorcycle dudes. During the casting I went inside a tiny room with him as was surrounding by skateboard legends. Hawk, Mountain, Hosoi and others it was fucking amazing.
I actually remember seeing this on TV as a kid and thought it was super real and cool. That cry of anguish at the end! 😆 Someone bring back the 80s, please.
Did anyone else notice the blooper at the 0:46 mark? When Rookie yells out to HAH! [Hah?] he's wearing fingerless gloves, then when he puts his hands at his side and brings his left hand up next to his ear, suddenly he's wearing full gloves with fingers? He did not have enough time to properly switch gloves.
If This Commercial Came Back In Different Places Like Chuck E Cheese's And Incredible Pizza Nowadays Everybody Would Lose Their Mind And Go Crazy Over How Retro It Looked.
0:45-0:50 Kid #1 (Rocky): Han!!! NC: What the hell was that? Rocky: Han!!! NC (as Rocky): I just got that joke you told me ten minutes ago! Ha! Rocky: Han!!! Han (Tough Guy): Rookie.
When I saw this commercial I thought that they were supposed to be dying if they got hit. So when the guy yelled I thought he was yelling because he got shot and was hurt and dying. It was such a super intense commercial and scary.
I remember this commercial...for some reason, I kept having the word “Roookie” going through my head and I thought “yeah, it’s the old Lazer Tag commercial from when I was kid”. Had to come and verify I was right. Thanks for posting.
It's too bad that this whole event never actually happened. When I was little, I used to think it did and then newer people replaced the older ones, and I would get a turn up in Canada; never happened it's not even real. Sad really.
He was saying “Hog!” Skaters were Billy Ruff, Adrian Demaine, Kem Park and Mark “Gator” Rogowski. I was the double for Hog and the other quad riders were Steve “Too Tight” Wright, Mike Parker and another kid from El Cajon. Steve Wright was the Honda factory racer who debuted the then brand new 1986 Honda TRX 250. The quads in this commercial were Steve’s practice bikes.
I firmly decided that if my future depends on the plastic uprising of Laser Tag toys then I am going with the Dictator Establishment so damn fast. Now excuse me while I go drink my "Coohke" (oh sorry wrong Laser Tag commercial.😝😎)
"I got that joke you told me 10 minutes ago! HAAA!"
Nostalgia Critic FTW Right?
We're Late For Our Team!, The Owen Wilson Whiners!

Nanoforge1 Oh my, you're right!
You my friend just made my week!
It is Atreyu! Call my name!
I didn't know that!
It had action! It had suspense! It had "Ha!" and "Rockee!" Laser Tag Rocky was literally Laser Tag Rocky!
Doug walker
@@leroydsouza8226 I think "Ha!" is "Hawk!"😁
I just got that joke you told me ten minutes ago ha!
We're late for our team, the Owen Wilson Whiners.
Is it Rocky or Rookie?
Someone should build a skateboarding laser tag arena for real. I'd so like to try it.
I'm guessing there's some kind of history between Rookie and Haaa. Most likely Rookie got his ass kicked several times by Haaa before this.
I remember this commercial back in the day, I always thought he was saying Lucky but it was rookie.
SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE THIS A FULL MOVIE!!!
Nostalgia Critic brought me here
Back To The Future peaked my interest in skating. This commercial sealed the deal and I had to get a board right away.
My dad tried out for this commercial in the 80s as one of the motorcycle dudes. During the casting I went inside a tiny room with him as was surrounding by skateboard legends. Hawk, Mountain, Hosoi and others it was fucking amazing.

what an awesome commercial. I never did get to own the starlyte pro but I sure wish I could. Growing up in the 80's was the best!
Still love this commercial, today.
They don't even make that toy anymore.

Someone make this a real sport. Skateboarding/quad bike laser tag
That would be the coolest thing ever
Agreed. Let's start a petition.
I'd name it... CROSSFIRE!
Tagline... You'll get lazer caught up in it.
Damn this some high production value toy commercial
Lovin' how high quality this video is! :D
"HAN!!!"
"Rookie."
HAN!!! Is probably long dead by now....RIP

Why is it nobody ever wants to cosplay dressed as White Grace Jones, Rookie, and Hah?

"HAAAAA!"
"WOOKIEE!"
Terminator, Aliens, macintosh 84 commercial vibes..
Running Man too
This is gonna sound crazy but… if they made a rollerball/gladiator style film like this about laser tag. I’d watch it
It's too bad that this whole event never actually happened. When I was little, I used to think it did and then newer people replaced the older ones, and I would get a turn up in Canada; never happened it's not even real. Sad really.
HAAAA!
Liam Funnyman Wockeeee
It’s a Lazer Tag movie !!!!
Reminds me of the 80s movie Solar Babies
I always thought he was saying "Hawk!!!"
I'm thinking the same thing, too.
he was.
Tony Hawk was actually in the commercial. My dad tried out for this commercial in the 80s and I was in the casting room.
He was saying “Hog!” Skaters were Billy Ruff, Adrian Demaine, Kem Park and Mark “Gator” Rogowski. I really wanted the big rifle but I'm grateful I got the small gun for Christmas one year
"ROOOKIEEE"
Haaa(k) looks like Goldberg
I felt that 80's pain from that scream..
I remember this... I thought it was so cool as a little kid.
It's still cool, I could see this as a movie that it'd randomly watch on cable
HAAAAAA!!!!!
At first I thought it said that it’s harder than ever but now I realize that it’s saying it’s hotter than ever.
I used to want to be her for Halloween, also me; I used to want to have her career!
stadium not included
We shot inside what previously had been the Marineland shark tank.
That "Hawk" guy looks like GG Allin
He's probably dead now, but no disrespect intended.
So is it Rocky or Rookie?
I always thought it was Lucky 😂😂😂
Neither, it's "Ruckeeeeeeee..."
I heard rookie too
It's Lucky.
Rocky.
Wait, is it "HAA!" or "HAWK!"?
I'm thinking his name is Hawk.
Hawk and Rocky.
Two badass 80s nicknames if there ever were.
Either suits me......
Used to think it was real back in the day........
oh no...
Look Its Atreyu!!!
I wanted to be the female announcer for Halloween once, and I wanted her career as well.......once
Who’s the woman that calls out
White Grace Jones?
People quoting Nostalgia Critic are the most annoying people ever.
