It works both ways Paul. We the viewers gotta really Thank You too cuz you've opened so many opportunities for us to see, hear, & question, it's always a treat when you post new interesting content.
Really interesting! I like the relaxed format where you just take a look around the mango farm. Your camera work and sound made this a pleasure to watch!
It does seem like it was a truncated season for Glenn, Carrie, Fruit Punch- mine were done a couple weeks back. My Young/Tebow is by far the most productive tree of the season but its winding down as well. I have some trees in 25 gallon grow bags and they're rocking. Also I find if you put your mango peels in the pots they really appreciate it. Very regenerative. Time for more visits to my favorite mango nurseries and more pruning at home. It doesn't get any better than this. Thanks Paul and Steve. Be blessed and know you're a blessing.
Yes ,my mangos 🥭 came off early it was a good crop but I do have a late mango 🥭 and they are HUGE,loving my mangos 🥭, I might have to come see you and talk mangos 🥭
I've been watching many of your past and current videos. Living in South Tampa with a small lot limits my options. However, your videos are so captivating that I'm considering purchasing vacant land in Punta Gorda to grow my own fruit trees.
Just went a grabbed a 7-gallon Pickering from Steve yesterday, great guy and the farm looks even better in person, definitely will be buying mangoes from Steve next year.
Im going to plant twenty trees in pots and maintain them and at the same time have twenty trees that I plant in an area I can cover with bug netting and remove like three feet of soil straight down. So im going to sink them but their trunk wont be covered. I know someone did a grove that way once, im going to try it on a smaller scale. Im also heaving pruning and keeping things short. I wanted to keep everything twenty feet or less and then trim branches in a way i can walk around but also let the tree have its way. If I sink my growing area by four to five feet max maybe my trunks will stay cool and I can keep a few feet of the top of the trees... i just need to watch for the basics and air flow, but id have to already. Why not if i have the room and the cuttings i can start. What a great place he has, awesome vid.
This is great stuff. I see you asking a lot of questions about mango trees in pots. 🤔 I see your yard full of pots in the future for the space issue. Good stuff Paul! I am in central Florida 9a so the pot talk is a good learn for me too!
No issues sitting in saucers for potted trees - just make sure you put a bunch of gravel in the bottom of the pot (ie. and inch or so) so that the soil itself doesn't wick all the excess water / waterlog the root zone. Some roots in the water/gravel area will be submerged, but it won't usually be an issue.
Malika is hit or miss for me. But the one I had that was perfectly ripe was amazing. Taste like a can of peaches and drinking the syrup from the can of peaches
Ha !😂 In Metro Phx (Tempe), I currently only have 2 Mango Trees: Super Julie & Rosigold...thinking about maybe adding the Ice Cream Mango. He has NONE of those🤣😁
Julie has the same name all ova the world, i grew up on Julie, Blackie, East Indian, Millie etc but some of these newer mangoes taste really good bredda.
@@Desman228from Zills breeding program, Fruit Punch, M-4, Pina Colada, Coconut Cream, Lemon Zest, Orange Sherbert, Cecilove, Sweet Tart, Sugarloaf etc. There are also some daughters of Julie that taste really good like Carrie, 40-26 or Angie. Chris from Truly Tropical also bred two new seedlings which hope to taste next year Lemonesh and Carpe Diem.
I consulted an Arborist and he said dwarf or semi dwarf mangoes in pots, even 65 gallon, would need to be removed from the pot and roots would need to be pruned every 2-3 years. I have a Carrie in a 65 gallon pot and the tap root has found its way out of a drainage hole and put itself into the ground. In the 25, now again already in the 65 gallon. She really wants to be in the ground and is a very vigorous grower. I just transplanted it from 25 to 65 gallon earlier this year and it already put the tap root into the ground. This pot is on four concrete pavers…when in the 25 gallon, it split the pavers apart and put the tap root into the ground through the bottom center drainage hole and now, she found a side hole in the bottom and went around the edge of the paver. Of course, larger mango trees should not be in containers long term. Clearly, Carrie is not a container tree, even though some sites claim it is. Plenty of people have testified the same as I…that it needs to be in the ground. Sweet Tart is definitely not a container tree. Mallika is even pushing it.
Ok , nitty gritty , you are cutting 10' off the top , I need 15 ' at least to halve its size :-) A full blown tree , what I want to cut is over 8' thick . Good info here tks .
I have a question, what is the ideal time of year to start germinating a seed and potting in soil once growing if the plant will be sitting outside outdoors in a pot?
Bit of a wake up call , tks . Bushes , not trees :-) @28.31 , asked the question on my mind :-) Seriously :-) How big is this place ? 2 acres is that US size ? :-) Not going into production here . Mango needs help . Massive , no fruit , few flowers . Thinking out loud , this year remove the core . To 5m above ground . Have plenty lower branches . Warned about getting too sereious , no yield for a year or 2 , had nothing for over 20 :-) No loss . And have to prune the nearby avo tree , much bigger .
So the world is getting smaller by the day- my boss introduced me to his Father inlaw and turns out hes close friends with this guy. I just got a photo of the list of mangoes available and couldnt help but laugh when i realized its clearly the same sign/place from the beginning of the video.
@@FruitfulTrees Tqvm for the info.. as long as can bear some Fruits for self-consumption, I am happy. I stay in South East Asia & my house is all tiled up... so No ground space. Tqvm. Great Blessings..
would you say the most raw diet people would be living in the Caribbean? because like in trinidad and tobigo jamaca maybe and like bahamas? Dont alot of rastas do a raw diet?

I bought two trees at the mango fest in west palm in 2024, Maha chanook and ppk. real nice trees and a relay nice guy
I love your videos! So helpful and informative as I have 5 mango trees among my 32 fruit trees in my small south Florida yard!
wow, 32 fruit trees, are you in South Florida?
thank you for continuously put out very informative videos.. kudos!
I like Malika. It tastes really good if you pick it at the right time.
The pots information is great, I've got some low land on my new property, and now I i know exactly what I want to do with it!

I sunk them opening bottom of pot. So much easier than constantly watering plus they get nutrients and grow quicker.

Right , serious prune when mom agrees , what happens to fruit production ?

OMW , a tiny bush has more mangoes than my huge tree has had in over 20 years .
Has to be cut in half , to 5m , the message I am getting .
If the temperature is too hot at the time you graft, you can cover the graft area with a clear plastic and air tight the end of the plastic bag.
Maybe y'all could try setting up some contraption with shade cloth over the top worked grafts to sheild rhem from the intense heat.
Save the best to last :-)
Mine is at least half that size :-)

Paul.. have you tried asking Richard from Excalibur to talk too you? He loves talking about fruit trees.
How do you guys deal with the squirrel issues? I have couple of trees but these guys just attack the fruit and waste it. Any suggestions from anyone?
