I literally had the same thing happen with the Myreque statues that you talked about. I left it to the end cuz I saw it was just a miniquest. Turns out I had everything done and now have to wait 10 days, 4 of which still remain. I hope they change this

Im fully with you on the point about the time gated ones. Like, the egg incubator d&d is a great example (although for mqc) it is literally a full year or half a year with monthly resets, and all you go do is once a month, you do a 5 minute minigame to get told a story by a dragon… like why? At least make it a weekly or less chaptors. I started my ports a bit late so was already behind on that, and then i only recently found out about the d&d because Its way less talked about in the community

Eapecially when you find out later. Runescape is one of those things where you grind a bunch of stuff, and at the finishline you find out you forgot something. You could have used X method to be faster or Y item to also gain xp for other skills at the same time. You should have been doing X activity every week, and since you haven't, now it'll take you months to complete what you wanted.
I don't like any weekly or monthly limits. I understand there's certain things that should only give REWARDS once a week/month. However allow people to repeat and complete whatever they have to if they choose to. There can be less or no rewards if needed.
Adding a section labeled “time gated requirements” would be nice

Honestly, I'm surprised that the 5000 scarabs caught wasn't a trim req. It feels like it should be one full-stop.

I've had my comp cape for a few months now; I definitely agree with the longer, tedious tasks like Livid Farm being long for mostly arbitrary reasons. Livid Farm, for me, was very unfortunate because the Travelling Merchant was not offering Livid Plants for 2 months, which meant I had to do it the minigame itself; I did learn about getting Livid Plants from player-owned farms, but that was when I was 80% done with the minigame. Still, I did make bearable by listening to music while I did the minigame. With Ports, I didn't mind it much because I saw it as a daily thing that I check on once or twice a day; I also knew about the rewards from Ports, so those motivated me to do it regularly.
The requirement that I wasn't fond of was Music Maestro; it's not that unlocking music was awful, but that fact that some music tracks were locked behind minigames, which almost no one plays anymore except for those who want the achievements or Thaler. It also meant I had to learn and play the minigames while also find people to help me (this was before I used discord regularly). I was locked out from getting comp cape for a week or two because Castle Wars was empty and Barbarian Assault was intimidating; it was only when I joined a nice clan that I was able to finish Music Maestro. I also looked online for video guides specifically for Music Maestro, and all that came up were the music tracks from Raids by going into practice mode, which I figured out on my own beforehand. Many music tracks were locked behind quests, but I didn't mind because I love doing quests.
yeah when i was making this video music maestro was the only one i had left (besides my final req ofc) and i realised that if i wasnt a youtuber i wouldnt be able to finish this; it is a huge issue and they should do something about it asap imo.
Sucks about the livid plant situation tho, but hey at leaas you have it done :D
Crazy thing with rs3 is, even when you're trim comped, you still have a gigaton of completionist goals you can go for :P

Shows you much value the cape holds lol. Completion should mean everything, not the stuff people don't cry about.
I've had my comp cape now for a few year, it's honestly something I never expected I'd have or even go for. Luckily for mean I always loves quests and doing side content. Since having my quest cape since release I've always had one of the harder tasks out of the way. There were definitely moments and grinds I hated (Looking at you Livid Farm Pre-Merchant) but I'll never trade the feeling of finally getting it.
Then came retaining the damn thing. LOL Honestly it's something I'll recommend doing especially now since it's not as bad anymore plus it give you a good taste of everything the game has to offer. Plus trim and Master QP Cape for those that want a hardcore grind.
that is awesome! huge respect for doing livid farm lol it felt awful to do.
The retaining part to me is fun, i mean as a creator i will itneract with most new content anyway, but even so it is great to actually have to do it instead of it being dead content for you on release
@@ChevalricRS oh absolutely it definitely makes past content still viable and worthwhile to do. Also luckily the most recent requirements have been pretty reasonable. Plus let's be honest the cape looks the coolest
Than came out the master master cape comp etc etc at this point its not about grinding but for trimmed players to finish the game
Bro you straight up slayed that master clue. I did one elite my entire RuneScape career and will never go above hard clues… 45mins and that was still with skip’s costume & puzzle. The terra compass from Arch I’m sick of doing too. I have saved them up cause the first one was such a cluster fkery it wasn’t able to finish until I submitted a bug report. Granted only have 7 compass saved atm but it gave me that unnerving feeling of not wanting to bother.

I am currently in progress of knocking out the requirements for comp cape and I totally feel you. Some requirements are just silly....
I don't mind the grind requirements. I just hate forced dead multi-player minigames.

My biggest issue going for comp is the 120 skills, i have always liked doing all the different kind of content in osrs for comp, but also rhe kind of guy qho think 99 is maxing.
that is fair, tbh the 99's for comp are not terrible imo besides dung. but you can lamp that doing penguins/quests/dailies etc.

Hey @Chevalric, thank you for this video. People dedicated to the game shouldn't have to suffer silently like this. Im getting close to the end of my Comp Cape grind and yes, all the things you mentioned are terrible and I agree. To add to the list. Getting the song from Barbarian Assault. I have to wait MONTHS to get that song and that's if I can manage to get into a game when the time comes. Mage Arena, Livid Farm, Sprites, and Crocs are extremely grindy basically dead content that needs to be reworked or removed. The Abyssal lord task doesn't make a super amount of sense. Temple trekking would be fine if not for the girl that refuses to fight was coded a bit differently. Demonhiem was on my list for a long time but I got super lucky one day. For months I would go and no one be there. I play on weekends or at night so Im basically a solo player.
Honestly, I feel like the cape needs to be reworked into a tiered system. Or "comp armor" even. It used to be the elite diaries but its gotten a bit out of hand. Some requirements like livid farm seem legitimately malicious.
i don't think the cape should be reworked, however i do fully agree that some of these music track changes need to be made HOWEVER i do think the barb one now should unlock in the lobby

My main issue with trim comp is a lot of the requirements are just excessively over the top to the point where there is really no need to do it other than trim. Not to mention that the particles do not match the actual gold coloring of the trim on the Cape and it just seems out of place

@@ChevalricRS 4000 bird kills, and 25 chimp ice runs are great examples of garbage fluff. Salty and sandy titles are examples of proper trim requirements, as well as completing statues. There was a good reason they removed the castle wars games req.
The thing is with the bird kills yoi get chokpy hats something to collect and i dunno about the ice
@@ChevalricRS the same could have been said for the castle wars games, but they removed it as you don't really learn about ingame content. Lots of the trimmed reps I'd consider not that, but there's definitely a few that could be chucked out and replaced with better content
I think chompies is a decent trim req, just like how scarabs should of been. Castle wars required other players or playing the minigame unintendtly
as a old player who has had the cape for a while being forced to do stuff like a plank box how does it make me more a comp player being 99+ and getting a plank box way after the fact
I think it is just part of what you sign up for going for comp imo
99+ is Max cape. Comp is complete most of main content I believe.

As a max enjoyer, I seriously don't have the time these days to keep up with all the requirements and never see myself getting comp. I've been maxed since 2016 and I'm still not 120 dung. I will slowly but surely play the game and enjoy my time. Real life's a bitch lol
oh very understandable, however i do want to say once you got it it shouldnt bee too difficult to keep up if you can play a few hours a week. usually they add on bigger ish req every few months the rest are all quite small
@@ChevalricRS I'm mobile only for the next month or so since my PC is across the country so it won't be anytime soon haha. Maybe one day. I've completed plenty of requirements over the course of just playing the game. I think I'm like over halfway on all the capes.
trim has been ever elusive for me, i hit a burn out point, and when i think about trimming again theres another 10+ new reqs. as of right now, only missing dinos/last kal'gerion scroll, and the boss pvm reqs

Well, the main issue with comp is, that you have to do every single new content that is relevant in any means, to keep it or regain it. I don´t like unlocks that are not permanent, I get the idea why the comp cape have ongoing req-changes, it makes sense, but that is also the main reason why it is completley unattractive to me. I prefer 120 capes a lot more. U make them 1 time and have acces forever. And tbh - of course it depends on personal taste, but i don´t like the look of comp, it is too clumpy, and it´s not worth the +1 perk in my opinion.
the actual "reward" of comp to me is not really the +1 perk (didn
t even know it was a part of it) but it is more the fact that you did interact with the content and have to keep doing so. but i also understand that some people. like yourself just want to unlock something once and be done with it

you can speed up ports by grinding arc and spending chimes

@@ChevalricRS Yes yes lol, but you can spend your arc chimes, on port supplies, greatly reducing the time to complete ports, as you can accelerate the upgrading of things.
It used to be till they added more 120s req and now the master capes xd
still doing my comp cape, i really disliked having to get the gate key from abyssal lords, i had to spend so much money just to be able to survive there

Currently almost done with Task master, mostly just need to finish quests for Elite Desert, and get into a game of Castle wars, and win. That so far has been my most dreaded content on Comp grind. Dead content.
You can do the castle wars one on a world dedicated to ir, most people just afk there lol and task master well i gotchu covered
I feel like the zuk cape is a much easier grind and a much better cape. No Point in grinding for those max capes but Thats just me.
for pvm? 100% it is not even close, but for most people the comp cape is more of a status thing thatn a bis as it should be as well (unless all zuk capes would be a part of comp/trim)
@@ChevalricRS yeah its a status thing for sure. RS is such a time consuming game that I rather go for BIS range gear first, Botl with zuk cape, SGB inside EOF. Etc... That alone is a status thing in itself as well.

I been playing since January of 99
Yup believe it or not. Around 2017-2018 I gave it one hell of a shot for comp cape whilst starting an Ironman account. It has been annoying especially since I have only 4 to 6hrs a night of game play if I’m lucky. Like most 34yr old players we do have work and life. So I gave up on grinding it because I actually fell so far behind with game updates and News. I basically became a high level accomplished Noob.
i can imagine that feeling to be honest, some of the grinds on there are very long. but that is soo awesome you have been playing for surch a long time! must be crazy to see how much the game has changed

@Chevalric yes and no, because those new tasks can add up quickly when you don't have time to do them. I find myself constantly chasing the carrot trying to recomp. Everything I get close, they add another update with another task. Sometimes their simple and sometimes there lengthy.
