One of Spikes replies in an interview has always stuck in my mind and I use it myself on occasions. "So Spike, how long were you in the army?" "Five foot nine inches"
Clive moved from Australia to the UK. Spike moved from the UK to Australia. He lived on east coast of NSW in a city called Woy Woy, which means 'deep water'. He said he didn't know which Woy meant deep, and which one meant water!
Contrast this interviewing technique with that of the Clive Anderson interview broadcast within days of this. Allowing an experienced performer to perform, setting the direction and then just waiting and allowing it to unfold. The audience adored Spike and showed this here, you can hear this easily. Zero outakes pure comedy from a not very well genius performer. Respect shown both ways. Alas both not with us any more; no info on the singer at the end to comment.

Two titans of comedy bouncing off each other. I wish it would have gone on for hours.
So very very funny but when you read some of the things he wrote in his blackest days you realise what a tortured soul he was.
