When I was in school there was no cellphone, everything was L.P 8mm cassettes. I wished to see who was singing , take time to know her. Putting a face to yr superstar in my time was not practical, so we learnt their songs and celebrated them in singing their songs. The only picture we had of them was on their album cover if we were luck to have the original album

I met Percy Sledge about 15 years ago, when he was performing at a street festival in Sanford, Florida. He was surprised (but pleased) when the Chief of Police asked him to perform Take Time to Know Her.
This is my song. Brings back memories listening to him during my young days.

I met Percy in Austin, Texas in 1998 and he was with his big bitches and we talked for a few minutes before a show. I told him I thought THIS was his best song over and above his hit WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN. He actually agreed with me. It is a fine song with a t great message in light of all the divorces today.
