Very. We're in OZ and looking at visiting next year for 2 weeks. Thinking more long term perhaps. Again, thanks for all the good advice and info AND for your response mate. Stay safe. No need to reply .
That’s a very nice project. I looked at buying one about a year ago but they wouldn’t take my dog. Great location and nice views. 10k rent is a deal for a nice place like that!
Thanks for this one Ged. My wife and I are hoping to start our retirement in about 5 years using Thailand as our first stop/base. Well probably have a combined income of about £2,000 a month to spend, and as ex backpackers we're more than happy with a street food/basic accommodation/local beer lifestyle. You putting this sort of video together showing the real cost of living if you don't go crazy is really useful. The TV shows about retiring abroad which they show here in the UK are great, but they are always about staying in high end apartments and eating out in posh restaurants - not the reality for most people, and certainly not us on our budget. Keep traveling and keep putting out more content. 🙂👍🙂
Hi Mark 2000 (90000) a month is very doable and will give you a good lifestyle here though back in the UK it would not be so easy or fulfilling to live on that. Good luck with your eventual move I am sure it will be the right decision. If I can make a suggestion in the next five years before you come to live here try to learn some everyday Thai it will make a big difference. Cheers Ged

Hi Ged very interesting to watch this video i hope i can stay a while in Hua Hin in few months, i subscribe maybe ill contact you to have advices finding a good and cheap condo and all the good place to go!
Hi The best place to find condos is where I always go when I am looking for some place to live, Facebook Marketplace and the online marketplace Baht&Sold. Just type in Hua Hin and click rentals and you will get lots of hits. Just look back on my older videos as well to see other places I have rented and the best places to go in Hua Hin. Good luck with your plans to visit Thailand. It really is a magical country Cheers Ged
Coming out in November for a retirement research trip. Hua hin top of my list. Thinking pool villa or beach front condo with a pool. Appreciate your insights. Do you have a recommendation for hotel in Hua hin close to night life and a pool? Gonna be there for a week. Thanks.
Hi Mark. I usually stay in the Hua Hin Terminal on Soi 88. It's a five minute drive from town. If you look back at some of my past videos you will see some of them with the hotel. It has a swimming pool, gym and big room. I normally pay around 400 to 500 baht a night but the price often goes up at weekends and holidays when people come from Bangkok. November is the high season and Thailand is starting to pick up again after covid so prices may be higher now Safe travels Cheers Ged
Can you live in thailand on the australian government pension? If so that's good to know, because the government pension in Australia is about $400 a week. So can you live there on $1600 a month do you think?
Hi Paul. I live well on my Australian pension of $912 a fortnight. But that is just week to week daily living expenses. I don't know if you have seen the video from a couple of weeks ago about a realistic budget to live in Thailand. Here's a link I hope that it helps Cheers Ged ua-cam.com/video/iVgFXtyPk48/v-deo.htmlsi=oEvBGZsukF3Atn9e
Hi Denny. It would depend on how you want to live your life in retirement as everyone is different with different needs and expectations. US$350 a week is liveable for the day to day living expenses and is about what I budget to live on. I like to travel a lot so that is extra on top of my monthly expenses. If you like to go out to bars and restaurants regularly then that would have to be factored in . If you intend to take out medical insurance that would need to be added also. I drive a motorbike so that's very cheap to run but if you were intending to buy a car then that would be an added expense. But US$350 a week would be liveable for day to day living. I hope that this helps Cheers Ged

Hi Ged, another great insight. Going on your cost's for a year how much percentage increase £6420 do you forsee each year ? This would give me a rough idea how much I will spend monthly when I decide to retire in Thailand
Hi Mark. Living here is not the same as living in the west and you don't see the cost of living increases like you do in most of those countries. What you have to remember is that the wages and income is low for most Thais and there's no social security system here to help them in hard times. If you go to the tourist hot spots you will pay more but if you just live a normal life and splurge every now and again you can live a great life on your western pension. Having said that I believe that the UK pension is frozen when a UK citizen leaves the country so if you are from there it could be different. I hope that this helps Cheers Ged
@@thailandmyland...retiringd2351 thank you Ged, the prices will roughly be the same in 5 years. Yeah the UK pension does freeze but only when you first claim for it.
