TIMELY PIECE ABOUT THE CARNIVAL ..YOU GET AN OLOGY , YOURE A SCIENTIST ...
Were pre-programme idents abolished to give the companies more time to broadcast commercials? Or for other reasons?
I think they were. I’ve noticed not long after they were dropped that the practice of having some advert breaks with a longer and shorter version of an ad bookending the break had started. ITV bosses seemed to think that the presence of pre-programme production company idents (nicknamed “frontcaps” to complement the “endcaps”) “confused” viewers(?) Viewers weren’t stupid and - apart from a few anoraks like us - didn’t care anyway.
@@stickytapenrust6869 Don't know how viewers would be confused by a frontcap and an endcap.
7:00 The Ealing Broadway train derailment where 50025 ‘invincible’ was derailed by /rail placed into its path.
and what the hell is a community action trust reward. Shows everyone someone has grassed to the police.
The ruining of ITV begins...
It started on 31st December 1987 when pre-programme production company idents ended. The first day without was 1st January 1988.
@@stickytapenrust6869 The ruining of ITV continues then. (And continues to this day.)
Yes i remember i read that too before. When itv decided to give up oddly their idents aside from the one you were watching of course too.@stickytapenrust6869
I never liked the generic look.
It was OK. I suppose.
Much better than the later generic looks.
@@stickytapenrust6869 I forgot about the 1999 one which was worse. By this point regional companies barely existed.
