I think it is important to mention the different types of hay as not all hay is created equal. When they are less than 6 months old they should have alfalfa hay. Alfalfa hay has too much protein and calcium that can cause obesity in older bunnies. So at six- months of age you want to switch to timothy hay. Also important to mention on the video is that the switch from one type of food to another type of food should be gradual (through a period of two weeks) where you combine both types of food increasing little by little the new one, and decreasing the old one little by little as well. That is important to avoid upsetting their digestive systems, possibly causing GI stasis; GI stasis is very painful for bunnies, and can kill them within 12 to 24 hours if left untreated. It is a vet emergency. For older bunnies, the diet should be 80 to 85% timothy hay (unlimited amounts available 24/7), then a 10% of green leafy vegetables (about the size of a side salad at a restaurant) and finally plain pellets (no colored stuff). Plain pellets should almost be a treat (1 to 2 Tbsp). Also it would have been a good chance to dispel the myth that bunnies diet should be carrots. Carrots are too high in sugar and that can cause their untimely death as overtime it alters the healthy balance of healthy bacteria in their gut, causing GI stasis which could be lethal as described above.
My bunnies r only 3 weeks or so old I realize they jump out of their bed box & started eating banana & apple that their mom was eating, I placed them back in their bed & they keep jumping out to eat the fruit so I left them alone... I pray that nothing happens to them bcuz I already lost 3 different birth they all were still born this is her 4th set & I'm so happy she finally have some little ones...
I have had 3 rabbits.I have only one left.Lila.I enjoyed your video.Whatxabout wood ; branches from Apple trees( no leaves) maple, Willow.Tyey need to keep their teeth working to maintain the correct measure and length. They love it.Plus various herbs, oregano rosemary basil.Thank you.
Your one of the first people I've seen say rosmary. My bunny has rosmary in his diet often it's got so many properties and wards off mites. I massage him with it too along with lavender. He has all the others you mentioned too and does lots of twig chewing to keep his teeth down . Willow he loves and herb wise he's herb fed with no other greens due to seizures. Herbs and hay. Treat wise he has blueberry or pear. ( No skin). I'm amazed how I don't see more about rosmary on UA-cam especially the mite thing. Even though mines a house free roam I still be careful as mites are found in hay. These were extreemly cute bunny's indeed. I've never seen one eat orange though

Personally i don't give my rabbits anything green until they are 8 weeks old. By so doing I greatly minimize chances of them suffering from diarrhea or bloated tummies. I also wean my bunnies at the age of 8 weeks and by then most of them will be weighing 2.1kg to 2.3kg. I feed them hay and pellets only until they reach 8 weeks. After that I start giving them greens, including fresh grass and vegetable leaves but in very small quantities for about a month. As for bigger rabbits, i give them mainly pellets and also hay as something to nibble on whenever they feel like chewing something. I should also mention that rabbits that feed on pellets mainly taste much nicer than rabbits that eat greens and hay mainly.
@@crazyyolo4917 I do have one month old rabbits as we speak, and I'm giving them hay and pellets only. They will start eating greens when they reach 2 months mark, by then they would have grown old and i will give them greens very sparingly. I should also highlight that you can give your rabbits 100% pellets and no hay, and they will grow just fine, without any issues at all.
I have got a rabbit buck from age of 8 weeks and he never ever liked hay, only pellets... now he is one year old and he still eats hay just rarely.. but im not feeding him treats or anything else just quality pellets.. and he seems very healthy and not fat at all.. he loves to play with me almost all day
rabbits need to be freely able to walk around your house once its rabbit proofed or at least need a large dog pen it's also better for them to drink out of a dog or cat bowl cause the other ones a and have bacteria and they can stop working.
If you’re going to make videos about rabbits, how they should live or what they should eat. MAYBE CONSIDER EDUCATING YOURSELF ON THE TOPPIC BETTER. People watch you videos and they take your advise. HALF OF THE THING MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO ARE COMPLETELY WRONG AND MUST NEVER BE DONE!!!! Rabbits In a cage , rabbits drinking out of a water bottle ??? ARE YOU ACTUALLY KIDDING ME !!!
I’m sorry, rabbits should NOT be in a cage or hutch. They need a lot of space. I mean you would not put a dog or cat in a cage so why a rabbit. You can keep you bun in a play pen if big enough, but the best thing you can do is to free roam🐰
I haven't got my rabbit yet, but this really helped me understand what I need to get for it. Thank you a lot for posting this video.

@@PhilipjFrytheonly yes but not to much, 💯 Timothy hay

Where do you put young rabbits food pellets? In litter box ? Next to fresh hay? What about water dish
You can put the pellets next to the water bowl. In the litter box it's important to put fresh hay for them to eat while they poop.
@@abirdychirp8668 ya and you can also put it in there greens when there old enough to have greens
Get a heavy dish so they can’t knock it over
My sister’s zoo has litter boxes next to hay-holdy-things hanging on the wall - easier to clean box without dumping more hay!
Hey I thanked that more than 8 years was a world record
I once had a rabbit that wanted to eat meat. Never saw this behavior in a rabbit before and we owned several.
I had one who would steal lunch meat
I had a rabbit and she would try to steal my chicken nuggets
thank you all

You can't just feed them beef jerky and cigarette butts?
Honey badgers. You’re thinking of honey badgers. Action Figure Therapy has some good honey badger content.
What formula?
What can’t they eat? Thanks,Barb
What age should my rabbits start eating adult pellets
My rabbit is 12 years old🐰

There isn't any hay or pellets near me so i'll just go with grass different types of grass

My sister owns a rabbit
I have a pet bunny
rabbits under 6 months get alfalfa mix hay, over six months its grass only hay. alfalfa has too much protein and will kill an adult rabbit.
When should you stop giving your rabbit young age pellets
When there 5-6 months you can just use a quarter of a cup of adult pellets or take them completely out of there diet
I don’t think rabbit allowed to eat Broccoli because it’s not good for them, same as orange
What breed are the bunnies at 1:08
Baby lionhead
I love rabbits
keelan James looks like harlequins🥰🥰
My rabbit was born the mother don't really care what them
1:40 bunnies should never live in a cage or hutch
They should either be kept in a dog excersise pen, or they should be free roamed in your house.
Why fruit be the occasional treat????
High in sugar

Don’t keep a rabbit in a cage. At the very least keep a rabbit in a large pen
3:56 a rabbit CAN'T live longer than 8 yrs
They can they live for 8-12 years I know someone who’s bunny 🐰 lived 14 years
Ohhhhhhhhh
I foiled an attempted murder. My cats were poised and ready to kill this little guy. Dunno how old he is. Baby, but out of the nest. What to feed?
