On December 13th, 2015, Los Angeles City Mayor Eric Garcetti, Councilman Joe Buscaino, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, and L.A. Metro CEO Phillip A. Washington celebrated the launch of Metro Line 950X in front of the historic battleship USS Iowa in San Pedro CA (MayorOfLA, 2015).
Former Express Line 450 merged into Line 950X, patrons are now able to travel beyond Downtown Los Angeles by eliminating transfers and wait times at Harbor Gateway Transit Center (Broverman, 2015). One-seat rides from San Pedro to El Monte was a breakthrough since the introduction of Rapid Lines during LA's transit renaissance at the turn of the century (Walker, 2020).
Five years later, transportation planners proposed a widely unpopular agenda called "Next Gen Bus Plan" (HumanTransit, LAStreets, LA Times, 2020). The Plan would eliminate one-seat rides on routes traveling at longer distances and cancel or consolidate Rapid and Express services to local lines (MTA, 2020).
Although still in its infancy, Line 950 is L.A. Metro's longest express route (rome2rio, 2020). It is scheduled to be eliminated in favor of resurrected but diminished Line 450 service coverage due to the Next Gen Bus Plan (NextGen, 2020, p. 184).
In this episode our crews documented the entire trip of Metro Line 950, from El Monte Station via Downtown Los Angeles to San Pedro Express. The total distance from El Monte to San Pedro on Metro Line 950 is 49.2 miles or 79.1 km (Rome2Rio, 2020).
Be the one who will always remember the mighty 950. #950LIVES

What an amazing intro to that video, especially with that woman threatening to start driving if the 950 gets canceled. Also, I put a link to this video in the description of my ride along video!
It was surprising to see all the politicians and MTA CEO promoting 950X. Now come five years later those politicians still in their current roles did not lift a finger to save 950 for the community. The historical references of Line 950 are below.
It was great meet you and thank your undying support of SoCal Transportation 👍
The Metropolitan Network I was hoping to go to Santa Monica this coming weekend to record the 534, but it’s a bit too far for me and also since it’ll be the last Saturday before the new OCTA schedule changes go into effect on Sunday, I’ll be doing a video on that later this week!
@OC Bus Fan, there will be many more transit opportunities in the future. We are looking forward to OCTA changes episode. Will stand by 👍
The Metropolitan Network I also plan on heading back to LA on October 24 to capture the Gold Line shuttles due to construction of the Regional Connector
Amazing episode of Line 950! The premium express! Way more reliable than the 450.
One seat rides at longer distant are the way to go. Nobody would like to transfer if they do not have too. Thank you for the comment.
What a nice intro !!!
In my day off i will watch this video on my bed lol
Good video TMN👍✌😎
Thank you for the kind words. Our team appreciate it.
@@TheMetropolitanNetwork you're welcome! 👍✌😎

@@TheMetropolitanNetwork Cool!
yup first time here also, coming from youtube recommend@@BusDriverLife
I hope they don’t cancel the 950 because we need that line to connect el monte and downtown to San Pedro
San Gabriel and South Bay’s one and only direct connection will be gone. We urge you to still contact L.A. Metro and tell them to No forced Transfers and Save Line 950.
1:57 thanks for the fleet number!
Love it them buses be hauling butt .

*turns off lights* it is ON!
I wonder if 950 is the second longest route in the MTA system after 460? And do you know the top ten longest MTA routes?
Metro Line 950 is 49 miles long, and Line 460 is 43 miles long. Currently Line 950 is the longest route in the entire system.
@@TheMetropolitanNetwork I used Google map to circulate the length of 950 and it is around 39 miles, though the Wiki said 38 miles long. How do you circulate 49 miles long?
Line 950 goes through Downtown LA and later past Harbor Gateway Transit Center to 21st/Pacific in San Pedro. The link is on the description of mileage. Rome2Rio.Com is how we calculated the mileage.
I know some of the largest Metro lines I know off besides 460 and 950.

I want to visit the USS Iowa museum at the Port of LA. Can I use this line to get there and if so, can I use a TAP card or does it require a separate fare, thanks.
You can use the tap card, pay with cash or use a transfer from another municipal bus lines. Cash is $2.50

Whoa, whoa, welcome back “audits 4 us” our network's little troll always disliking our transit episodes. Why did you delete your comment about "so called loser 950", are you afraid of our fan base that will knock you out of the park you little keyboard warrior? You out of all people should know it's our 1st amendment right to post anything we see on this network.
As always Haters :)
Our network is doing something right if they are putting energy into disliking videos. It’s a badge of honor, more transit episodes coming soon 😀

950 METRO 🚇 🚌 BUS 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 😊
Where are you going to
Final destination is San Pedro CA.
What train at 8:25?
Metrolink San Bernardino Line.
Are bus fares free?
Tomorrow is the last day of free fares. Starting on Sunday June 27th you will start to pay.
This route is a BRT Los Angeles. Bus Rapid Transit.
Well we support be taking 8700 but unfortunately one of them are late and that not there fault we end taking the bus well use run the line
LA’s only dedicated Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system is the Metro Orange Line in the San Fernando Valley. The other BRT route is in San Bernardino and operated by OmniTrans. Metro Silver Line and Metro Rapid is not quite a dedicated BRT but it comes close. We appreciate your comment.
