I am Belgian and I live among the Algerians in a beautiful small village called Bastoun. I attended a dinner for one of the Algerians’ friends who works with me. His wife invited me to dinner. Believe me, she prepared various traditional Algerian dishes, but what brought me was the Freekeh drink with burak and the crackling. I got so addicted to them that I beg my friend to invite me again.😂
One thing i've learned in my time cooking, is especially when you have quite a lot of onion that you're sweating, if you're going to add salt to the dish, add it right on with the onions while you're getting them sweated, it really helps bring out the flavor in overdrive.

Although it's not the original method but i loved it... Btw u can add some dried mint on it for a better taste
Chorba frik is one of my favorite Algerian dishes, you should also try the Algerian couscous and chakhchoukha 🥰🇩🇿

Hmm, I love it, every ramadhan, I had it every single day at iftar, no way to skip it, my wife can't stand my behaviour and cooked another soup for her and the kids, but for me must be Chorba Frik, and the frik (weet) from Bordj Bouarreridj or Setif.
Thanks a lot for sharing this.
Such a rich and varied cuisine from East to West, and North to South ..
My mum can make a new and different dish everyday for the whole month of Ramadhan ..
Love it ...
If you come to Algeria, try constantine's chorba frik. The constinois dish is based on the flavor of the fresh meat of lamb, onion, tomato, coriande, celery , and frik, no carrot no zucchini
we don't put cinnamon in the chorba frik but overall you manage it well 😅 thank you for trying Algerian cuisine ❤️
Si nous on en met 😊
We don't cook it that way in the east of Algeria, but it looks good, well done 😍👏👏

I'm from the north we always add vegetables. I suggested that he could add if he wants to . I should try it too without vegetables because I never tried it without before it looks delicious.
