My first trip to Algeria to meet my husband was in 2013. I became very sick and this soup and Algerian flat bread was about the only thing I could hold down. However before I got sick I was able to enjoy so many wonderful dishes in Algeria. Everyone who's ever tried my husbands Algeria dishes absolutely fall in love with Algerian food. I am Belgian and I live among the Algerians in a beautiful small village called Bastoun. I attended a dinner for one of the Algerians’ friends who works with me. His wife invited me to dinner. Believe me, she prepared various traditional Algerian dishes, but what brought me was the Freekeh drink with burak and the crackling. I got so addicted to them that I beg my friend to invite me again.😂

One thing i've learned in my time cooking, is especially when you have quite a lot of onion that you're sweating, if you're going to add salt to the dish, add it right on with the onions while you're getting them sweated, it really helps bring out the flavor in overdrive.

You are funny. Your country is not that great. I'm over here now as we speak. Your foods are not good and you guys don't have a lot of different dishes over here. Not much to choose from in your country when it comes to food. I spent Ramadan here and you guys eat soup for the whole month🥴🥴 with the other foods you make(which you don't have much to choose from). You people have no idea what other foods are out there lol I'm Yemen, American, and had to bring 2 suitcases of different foods to your country to eat. I cooked for my husband's family they never had Arab rice lol. You people don't even have ketchup in your restaurants 🤨🤦‍♀️🥴. There's no McDonald's or Burger King or Starbucks over here lol you can't find real coffee over here only that nasty espresso ☕ you guys think is the best in the world. Everyone stares at you like you are green. Your bathrooms Are are so nasty🤮🤢🤮🤮 women are not allowed to go and drink coffee in public meaning you don't have a place for them to go like the men over here.😳 your beaches are dirty. I wouldn't advise anyone to come here unless you really have to lol

Thank you very much to share our traditional food chorba is one of the best food for me as an Algerian woman
Just I have a comment that we don't cook chorba like this we put the onion and the meet with the spices and let the meat fry then you add the tomato sauce and the tomato paste then you add chickpeas with the parsley and water and let them till the meat become cooked than you put 5 spoons of frikeh and let it until the frekha be cooked and you decorate with parsley.

Looks magnificent. I would like to incorporate more lamb into my repertoire. Same with veal. Chick peas are a fave and cilantro is always welcome in my food. Cannot wait to try this one. Will look for the green wheat in my local grocery store before moving on to specialty shops. You said goat meat and that got me thinking that would taste good in this recipe as well. Soup is a fave of mine all year long, doesn’t have to be cold weather for me
