I just found your dad's music looking for some folk music I used to sing as a kid. I've added a lot of it to listen to while on road trips. I lost my dad to liver cancer in April 2021... I'm sorry for your loss, your dad lives on through his music and through you.
You know that this was written by a great American folk singer and son writer Bill Staines..I had the pleasure of playing tunes with both Liam and Bill...... bill also wrote The River and Roseville Fair
I love how they brought an Irish feel to this song. It's interesting how this song written by an American is so beautifully rendered by folks in UK and Ireland, not so much in US. Celtic Thunder is another good example.
They also edited out the American animals. (Coyote, hummingbird, jaybird - the grizzly bear still made the cut. I guess you don't want to antagonize the grizzly bear.)
@@jameskabala7465 I don't pay as much attention to the details of the lyrics as I do to the musical arrangement and singing. If they communicated the idea of the song, good enough. The more animals, Irish or American animals, the better, but it's good enough as is.
I've been with my husband over 20 years and he still can't give me a wiggle like an Irish man, he's Hungarian btw, bless his heart, if I nag and beg, he'll wiggle, like an eel. ❤
Its a terrible pity I was too young to get the privaledge of seeing them, I love their music and have literally all of the things they've ever published.
Yep they do:) God needed someone to teach his angels to sing ^^ I hope if im going to heaven These guys can play a song for me and my friends that have passed:) This is heavenly music:D
I have a copy of the CD but not the video. I bought the CD in 1987. It's one of the happiest and most frequently played CDs I have. And I have a bunch. Never saw only Tommy and Liam together, but I saw all the Clancy Brothers AND Tommy Makem in 1983 at Ireland's Four Provinces pub in Bethesda, Maryland. And the Guinness was lovely.
unbelievable.... like a portal back to senior infants... heard a drunk eejit singin this outside the pub last night and honestly haven't heard it in nearly 20 years... you wouldn't believe the nostagia this has struck up in me... gonna learn this on guitar and whoop it out at the next singsong and blow everyone away... some amount of words though. maith thu
I used to think the lyrics were "All God's creatures got a place at the fire...!" As in they were all singing around a big ol' bonfire. I suppose choir makes a bit more sense, but still. XD
@@aoifenish hello thank you very much , since 2008 i took some lessons i am not really good at playing ,but time to time when no one is home i play .Have a good day !

Lyrics:
All god's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
All god's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
(Well)Listen to the bass it's the one at the bottom
Where the bullfrog croaks and the hippopotamus
Moans and groans in the big tattoo
And the old cow just goes "moo"
(And)The dogs and the cats they take up the middle
Where the honey bee hums and the cricket fiddles
The donkey brays and the pony neighs
And the old grey badger sighs oh
All god's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
(And)Listen to the top with the little birds singing
And the melodies and the high notes ringing
And the hoot-owls cries over everything
And the blackbird disagrees
(And it)Singing in the night-time, singing in the day
And the little duck quacks and he's on his way
And the otter hasn't got much to say
And the porcupine talks to himself oh
All god's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
It's a simple song, a little one sung everywhere
By the ox and the fox and the grizzly bear
The dopey alligator and the hawk above
The sly old weasel and the turtle-dove
All god's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now

Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire

I can't figure out that one line. "Moans and groans with a big _________" (to-do?)

I grew up on this and I’m so grateful
I know just where your coming from. The best we can do is support those who play the music nowadays and/or learn it ourselves and share the tradition.

My mother was from Ballynacarrgy and hung out with all the singers ., she was in the Shamrocks...singing in Mullingar.. late 1960´s

I like the way this one is done along with the way that The Corries have done it also. It's just too bad that the ending got cut off.
They also edited out the American animals. (Coyote, hummingbird, jaybird - the grizzly bear still made the cut. I guess you don't want to antagonize the grizzly bear.)

Yup, a penny whistle. Some people might mistakenly call it a Fife, but those are a flute with a blow hole, not a whistle.
Great performance, although it was cut off at the end.
@TrillionGrams Febuary 22 my friend. And you're quite right. They did do an amazing job. but nothing beats the original.

Songs like this belong in a pub with young people!! Damn it!
What the F*** is with the abrupt ending?
ITS CAMMA 18
Patriot game Liam Clancy
So much better than Celtic Thunder!!
Celtic thunder also excel in this song, to be fair.
