My 13-year-old son is a catcher and not a pitcher. But he throws just as much as a pitcher every game. With that, arm care is on my radar. This helps a lot, thanks for what you're doing Coach!
This is so common sense, but not so common. I started up playing ball a few years back, and of course it came with pain in my throwing arm. I threw a whole lot harder before, but i had a huge gap in training. (10 years) So, the whole time, I was like, "this is so weird, i can't make my toss from the fence to home plate anymore, what's my deal?"...until it led to a severe pain and i could barely throw after 5 innings. Not fun. So, hearing your video and i get that it's mainly for pitching, but yeah, it made sense...thanks coach.
My elbow acted up a lot in the 2021 season couldn’t pitch as much or as good as I wanted. But my arm is feeling much better now that’s it’s been rested up.
Hey Dan, late comment but I was wondering, if I'm in the middle of my season, should I play the season out or just stop and rest for a month. I don't want to let my team down, but I also don't want to get seriously hurt.
Orthopedic surgeon, I suppose - someone who specializes in shoulders. Volleyball players have lots of shoulder issues - so a doctor who cares for volleyball players would be good.
good information. I am 15 years old and I have had pain in my elbow on the inside for about 4 days. It doesn't hurt when I pitch. If not when I rest, do you have any recommendations? I really feel very frustrated because I have never had pain before. I would be very grateful if you recommended something to me.
Consider reviewing your players diet and even get their omega index checked. These are all great points. Possibly, the pressure to gain weight is leading to quantity over quality in diet. Test your players omega index and see what their ratio is between 3 to 6s as a first step. You can’t put regular gas in a race car.
Hello Coach! First of all I am very sorry to bother you. But its urgent. I am fairly new to Baseball, I've started out barely 3 Months ago. I take my health very serious, and I dont want my carrer to end anytime soon. Everytime I throw hard a lot of times. For example when I am pitching at max or long tossing I get this kind of elbow soreness, its a slight burn in the inner and outer part of the elbow. Is that something to worry about? Or is it normal? I mean Ive not touched a baseball in my entire life until like 3 months ago. I respect injuries and I dont want one this early in my carrer.
is there any reason that while and after pitching my bicep tendon hurts I just started pitching so im curious if its just pain from starting or from the way i throw. The pain usually does not last long after the game but if i throw again the next day It will hurt again.
About 7 months ago, I hurt my arm for the first time and was diagnosed with "Overuse." Before I knew i hurt it, i threw for about 2 weeks trying to understand what i had done. Fastforward and i had to do physical therapy for 9 weeks. Fastforward 7 months and im still having UCL Sprain problems. My pain went from a 6/10 to a 2/10 throughout this summer ball season. I cant get it below a 2/10 pain. I heard it pop again throwing, not as bad as the first time it popped, and it hurts to throw again but not as bad. I have not overused it this time. Is it a possibility that other problems such as muscle imbalances can cause a UCL injury? And that my UCL isn't the problem, but that it's just an effect of another problem? I'm not asking for a diagnosis, just whether or not that it's a realistic possibility.
When doing a workout should I do body part specific workouts?(for baseball)Ex. Lower body one day, Upper body another day. Or should I do full body workouts?
Hi coach My son is only 13 he's a left hand pitcher... he has arm pain on his right upper outside left and the side elbow area.... what can he do it to get better.

Yeah, catching is also tough on arms. If your son has a good arm, he'll eventually be asked to get some innings...so be prepared.

Fantastic information as usual. Your contribution to our kids and this game is priceless.

glad to hear it. hopefully you made some changes to your routine to make it more resilient in the future, as i discussed toward the end.

Always look fwd to your content. You should be getting more views!! Keep it up
front wheel drive?
Great info, ty, my son is six but will start throwing as a pitcher at 8. But no pressure from me, I'm a dad who like multiple sports.
Range by David Epstein is a great read re: this.
I live in Europe so there aren't any sizable baseball programs - who do I see when I have arm pain?

Go see a doctor and ask them these questions.
My rib hurted when i was on the bounceback net from 20 feet away, and previously pitched about 12 days ago without any pain..
see a doctor

I'm not going to speculate. Go see a better doctor than the one you saw.
I have shoulder problems when I try to the throw the ball hard I have range of motion and everything just have a pain when I throw
not good
I want to ask about elbow tendonitis is there any way to heal? Or is about the same at UCL?
of course it can heal
