As someone who has lived in Florida well over 7 decades, we had some massive storms in the 60's and 70's without all this technology, weeks of warning and available shelters. Of course there were a lot less people so the land was able to absorb the blow, diminishing the destruction, and they immediately devolved when the eye hit land, none of this hurricanes so far inland. I appreciate your clear, precise information delivered with complete professionalism and lack of outside bs. Prayers for all affected.

Why is the eyewall landfall always quoted as the time to expect? That means half of the storm is already passed. People hear “Wednesday night” and think they still have time. It baffles me to this day and it has always been like this. Officials need to focus on the approximate time the winds and rain are going to get bad, which could be several hours at least before landfall. Stop focusing on the eyewall so much.

Late this morning e picked up a handful of tornadoes on the East coast from Broward up to Martin County on the east coast.

Max winds were 180 mph Mon @ 7pm, now max winds 145 mph which is medium Cat 4, (NOAA 1pm Update). Don't forget to PRAY 🙏 God is listening...

I agree with Prophet Manny that it will be a cat TWO as it hits. Already thank God have seen it go cat 5,4 and at this time cat 3. Now looking for God to put the brakes further on the storm. I don’t even give them the gloat factor calling it a hurricane. Not my first rodeo born in Plant City Florida 1959 .

Why does the movement of the hurricane speed up as it approaches the shore? Is it the subtropical jetstream pushing it forward to the East while also shearing it?

Different factors. Could be wrong, but I don’t think there’s a relationship there. Plenty of other cases where the opposite happened. Harvey comes to mind.
